Trail Blazers (23-22) At Jazz  (25-21)

    What To Watch For

    Quick Start
Playing in Salt Lake City has never been an easy task for the rest of the NBA, but especially for the Trail Blazers who are just 2-10 in their 12 trips to the Salt Palace since LaMarcus Aldridge's rookie year. Like Portland, Utah has a rabid fan base and they can smell blood in the water. If the Trail Blazers come out lackadaisical and turn the ball over, give up easy buckets or commit silly fouls, it will snowball and it'll happen in the bat of an eye. It's important for the Trail Blazers to weather the early storm and stay within striking distance early on. Portland can't win this game in the first 12 minutes, but they can certainly lose it if they don't come out of the gates ready. For this to happen, the Blazers must dump it inside to LA and play inside-out. 3-pointers are great, but the way you win on the road is by living at the line and controlling the paint.

    Rebound, Rebound, Rebound
Utah has a massive frontcourt and a whole lot of depth to go along with that size. They feature four fantastic bigs -- Paul Milsap, Enes Kanter, Al Jefferson, Derrick Favors -- and have been known to stake their claim in the paint. It's imperative for not only JJ Hickson and Aldridge to win the battle under the boards, but the guards must help crash the glass. If Portland can win the rebound battle and hold Utah to under 10 second-chance points, chances of winning increase exponentially.

hopefully we can get the same aldridge we had against the mavs for this one don't think well get the same hickson that we got in that game cause I'm pretty sure we got that version of hickson because they had no real big man who could play any sort of defense at all lol

If the postseason is the direction, this game is HUGE.  Take a look at the standings.  To get a full game on Utah would be nice.  As D mentioned, this game will be decided on the line of scrimmage...in the paint.

Kick Ass and take names later!  Take a lead early and keep it going til the end to win!  It would be sweet to win in Utah and bring it back to Portland Saturday for the second of the back to back!  Not to mention that would put us at 3 wins in a row!

Damian should have his way. Tinsley cant hold him and Mo Will is down. Foye at the 2 spot wont be able to contain Wesley. If we get them in early foul trouble, they'll have to rely on their bench, and if thats the case, we should crush them.

Congrats bench you screwed us again the bench played an average of 14 minutes tonight and scored a whopping 10 minutes in over a quarter of play pathetic. Furthermore, the massive amount of minutes the starters have been playing are starting to take its toll. Batum is hurt as he was seen rubbing his wrist often between plays and Matthews went down with an ankle injury.

PS why did Pavlovic our best bench player get a DNPCD on a night where we needed additional bench minutes. Why is Luke Babbitt playing the four in a small ball lineup while we are getting pounded by Al Jefferson? Screw you Stotts.

I don't think Nic should be playing hurt. I don't think anybody on this team should be that tired given that last night was not a back to back. Tonight they might be. Luke Babbit needs to stop using games as 3pt practice sessions. The whole team needs to make layups. Shooting was horrible but this loss is not on the bench alone, JJ had 0 rebounds at halftime and even though Lillard made a game of it in the end, he didn't have a good first half. Our bench is a weakness and with Wes out and Nic hurt, it's going to be ugly...I don't understand why Pavlovic is not playing unless there is a trade in the works and they don't want to risk him getting hurt?

Dont think they trade him for JJ tho, they can just sign Hickson.

I watched Shabazz at the combine and he was a poor shooter.  In fact he did  so bad he did not even show up for drills in day two.  He may be a scorer not a shooter.  If he throws up enough shots he scores.  If someone looks a...

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
