Fifth-year pro pledges $1,000 for every point he scores March 27 at Oklahoma City
Trail Blazers forward/center
LaMarcus Aldridge
has pledged to donate $1,000 for every point he scores against the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 27 to Direct Relief International’s Japan Relief and Recovery Fund.
Aldridge
joins Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Al Horford, JaVale McGee, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook in donating $1,000 for every point they score in select games from March 25-27. An additional 13 players have committed to donate a set amount.
Aldridge
leads the Trail Blazers in scoring this season, averaging 22.2 points through 71 games. He has scored 30-plus points eleven times, including two games of 40-plus points.
Formed with the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), Direct Relief’s Fund supports the immediate health needs of people by working with local authorities best situated to assess, respond, and prepare for the long-term recovery.
Direct Relief has already provided emergency funds for the provision of emergency materials for thousands of displaced persons in 20 facilities throughout Miyagi prefecture, with special attention being paid to the needs of those with disabilities and the elderly.
