Okay I know no one wants to think about trading LA especially with two years left on his deal and him making a second all star team. However, for this team to become legit contenders we need major wholesale changes because DeAndre Jordan or Anderson Varejo will not get us anywhere close to a title.

    Here is the trade scenario:

Portland trades LaMarcus Aldridge, Kostas Papanikolaou and 2013 and 2014 2nd round pick to Chicago

Chicago trades Carlos Boozer, Jimmy Butler, Nikola Mirotic and Charlotte's future 1st round pick (Tyrus Thomas trade).

This trade does not make Portland much better next year or much worse either. Butler is a stud, he is an elite defender (Watch him on Kobe), who can jump out of the gym, who also shot 38.1% from downtown this year. Boozer posted 16-10 numbers for the Bulls this year and Mirotic is 6'10" is generally considered the leagues best Euro-stash player (Highlights).

Aldridge would pair nicely with Noah and if anyone could get him to play aggressive team defense it would be Thibs. Also more importantly for Chicago LA and Rose would be murder on pick and roll. LA would give the Bulls a real second or even first scoring option that they currently do not have. He is also younger and represents a mild cap savings for the Bulls as well. Kostas has been playing good ball in Europe and would be a nice replacement for Butler even if he represents a downgrade.

    What do you think?

Thanks common except you not only deleted the bar but the sentence under it. Which said something like the Bobcats pick would be pretty much a guaranteed lottery pick.

Personally, I'm not trading Alridge. In today's league, you only stand a shot if you have 3-5 guys of his caliber. Don't go backwards. Build around him and Lillard or you don't have much of a shot.

This sounds like a trade waiting to lead to another rebuilding year. Boozer in my opinion is not worth it and he also isn't even close to the ability of Aldridge. I have always said that the only way that a trade with LA would be worth it is if we got an all-star in return. Boozer isn't close to that. I wouldn't mind just signing OJ Mayo and seeing what he could do here in Portland.

After having some time to think AND reading this

    http://www.blazersedge.com/2013/4/24/4261940/wojnarowski-cavaliers-want-to-trade-for-blazers-f-lamarcus-aldridge

Cleveland top 3 pick 2013 would be pretty nice. We can grab Noel, Mclemore, Oladipo, Porter

Tristan Thompson can be a adequate replacement to LA

Thompson, Dion Waiters, Cleveland 2013 pick for Lamarcus

Dion can be our sixth man for Wes, Thompson can be our fresh new starting PF, , and with Clevelands pick we I would go with Porter or Noel

Lillard, Thompson, Matthews, Leonard, Waiters, Batum, Noel/Porter, and our 10th pick  is a very promising core!!!

    BUT

But I would hate to go with another lottery season, which is what this extremely young roster will probably have. But this new roster is set up for long sustainable success. But All Stars dont grow on trees. LA probably should be the player we should build around.

    BUT

I think if Thompson, Waiters, 2013 first round pick deal is offered  for Lamarcus than your gonna have to agree.

Personally, i think we should keep L.A. at all cost. Its obvious that we need a pivot, but equally important is to have a 2 guard who can create his own shot consistently. Ive got most of our games on DVR and when i look at some of the games, what stood out the most was our lack of playmakers. Specifically one who's shot you respect, prepare for and still cant stop. If Tyreke wasnt so inconsistent he'd be that guy.  Terrence Ross on the otherhand can be that guy. Great upside,6'6", young, handles the rock and jumps out the building. I think he'd thrive playing at home, and he and Lillard in the backcourt...forget about it.

Tyreke is a name being thrown around a lot.. I would like him but his price tag would probably be in the 9-12 million per  year

I agree we really need another ball handler

No. Not Lamarcus. Not the face of this franchise. Not the two time all star. Not the best low post scorer in the league. Not the second best PF (1st in my opinion). Lamarcus is our main scorer. We have already rebuilt. We don't need more new players who we have to test out and train. Keep LA. Trade our draft pick for a centre, and we're set.

Best low post scorer in the league really, maybe if he ever played down there. He takes 10.2 shots per game from beyond 10 feet including a crazy 7.3 from 16-23 feet.

In 2011 he took 10 shots per game under 10 feet including an impressive 6.1 at the rim and only 6.5 from beyond 10 feet. Not surprising he posted career highs in points per game, free throw attempts per game and offensive rebounds. That is the player he needs to get back to if we are going to keep him otherwise move him for some nice pieces.

I mean Butler is my pick for Most Improved Player next year, Mirotic is a future version of Ryan Anderson and a guaranteed lottery pick could get us someone even better than LA potentially.

He also posted career high numbers in assists this season. I'd never trade the guy period. When people think of the Blazers, they think of LaMarcus. He's shown a lot of patience and loyalty to the franchise and I believe he deserves the same in return but that's just me.

Yes. Many of my friends and other NBA Fans think I'm stupid when I say I don't want D12 or Kobe or someone in Portland. Lamarcus Aldridge, personifies Portland. Simple, Humble, Decent. Not flashy or anything. Just does his thing night in and night out and is so so loyal. I don't think I've ever heard trade rumours about him asking to leave even when we did so badly. Look at Kobe. D12. Lebron I understand.

LaMarcus Wes Nico and Sasha got injured this year too...what's the point? I think most of us have accepted long ago that we're rebuilding, the playoffs are on now and I enjoy watching the Spurs in the west. Next season I have hopes that we'll be a top 5 in the west. We all know the history of the team but at some point you just have to move forward and that's where we're at.

Nothing happened to retooling, it's still going on....I use the word rebuilding which is not precisely the same word but a very close synonym. We can disagree, that's all fine but constant negative affirmations achieve very little in the big picture. I happen to support the direction of the team, really like the core starters, GM, owner, coach and will continue to enjoy the process.

RipCity14 I completely agree with that statement. Remember we're a brand new team now and one of those rookies ran our offense for an 82 game season. Damian will be better, hopefully Nic and Wes stay healthy, our other 4 rookies should improve, Lamarcus will be better, and hopefully Olshey gets that defensive anchor at center we NEED. And we can be right there competing in June.

We had 2 lottery picks including the ROY, a two time all star, an 11 million dollar SF, a double double machine at center and a tough shooting guard who made around 40% from downtown and ended up below most preseason win projections. Furthermore, while we were contending and Chris Anderson was added to Miami when he filled a clear need here, Kenyon Martin was added to the Knicks, if it wasn't for OKC basically giving away Maynor so they could sign Fisher we would have done nothing to make sure this surprising team could actually compete.

The front office shopped JJ at the deadline and there were no takers. Positives from the season, no career ending injuries, rookies got experience against proven vets and we've got cap room and assets going into the offseason. Neither Martin or Anderson have played an 82 game season this year. Time will tell but they both have character issues you might not want around a locker room with 5 rookies. Denver dumped both of them, the Clippers dumped Martin. They are playing for acceptance and jobs right now. We'll see what Martin and Anderson look like next May. Olshey is very aware of who these guys are and I don't think he dropped the ball on either of them. There's a better solution coming to Portland.

After losing Broy and Oden we all looked at the begining  of the season as a rebuilding year. With the emergance of Lillard we had alot of hope I think we drafted very well at worst I think Leonard will be a viable back up. At the trade deadline when we did practically nothing we kind of ran out of steam which in mine eyes even though slightly disappointing was probably better. We have a really good chance to get a #10 lottery pick or better  and cap space with some good wheeling and dealing I believe we could set up to make a good deep run into may/june next year. As far as this post goes I would be more apt to trade Batum than Aldridge to get a Named 5 or 2 position.

Denver dumped them because they have 700 people on the roster who need playing time already. If these guys were dropped from the Bobcats I would buy your argument but cmeese is right we had a chance and olshey did not take it. Furthermore, Olshey wanted a first and refused to take back any multi year contract in return for JJ which basically meant wme are not trading him unless you are that desperate.

I hope your right and Olshey has a plan but this year he did not do enough

Cmeese, your double negative hurt my brain, I thought you asked if I was not convinced he was going to make us contenders. I have been saying for a while, most of his blocks come from the weak side, he's not a great one on one defender, and I shoot better from three than he does from the stripe.
