What Cho accomplished is a massive upgrade in talent. Backup C's and PF's don't win you playoff series, top-tier talent does.

Gerald Wallace plays for FOUR positions. Don't just see him as someone who plays only the 3 and the 4. He could play at the 2 and 5.

As far as I could remember, there was a time when he played the 2 when he was still in Charlotte. He could be utilized as a shooting guard when the Blazers play against teams with guards who score heavily (like the Lakers).

As for the 5, he could be used at that position when the team plays on a scenario where opposing teams go short and rely on miles of fastbreaks.

I'll give it a B+.  Love the trade.  Love that Cho did a professional job with this deadline, and kept at what Portland wanted.  Earned my respect and my trust.  However, I would give it an A, but that's because of how poorly advertised it was.  We heard it was for as little as Joel and a first round pick.  Then we were told it was for Cunningham, Marks, and Joel.  All I can say it was nice to hear that we got him, but we weren't waiting to hear who we got, but who/what we gave up, and that kind of got worry some.

However, great steal, and A+ by Cho.

Much love Dante and Joel... and Marks.

Guys these are NBA professional players.  It's a business and they get played hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars a year.   This is an A+++ deal.  This deal helped "this" Portland team more than any other deal helped their team at "this time".  Wallace is a first team all NBA defensive player!!!  Wallace is also an All Star.  Get over the sentimental crap and get to the business of winning.  Wallace is the best wing guy we've had since Drexler.  Aldridge can get some much needed rest because Wallace can take up the scoring slack from the 3 or 4 spot.  We picked up one of the premier S.F.'s in the league that can also play the 4 "effectively".  We just went from a 6th. seed to a 4th. seed and home court advantage!!!  Portland helped itself more "for this season" than any other team in the league.  PERIOD...

A massive upgrade in talent? Gerald Wallace is a good player, but no greater than what we have now. As far as what the vision is, it's no secret that the club performs better in an up tempo fast break game. Now, without a TRUE center to do little things like, oh say, defend the middle, rebound and change your opponents shots, you have no running game, only the other BIGGER teams getting offensive rebound after rebound until they score. Sorry to disillusion you, but you need capable backups that are up to the challenge if you want to advance in the league. Wallace at 6'7" and maybe 220# is a great three (maybe even a good two if he works on his ball handling skills) but not a four. Not to mention rather fragile (he's played a total of 592 regular season games out of 820) and he didn't even average double digit scoring until his 4th year in the league when he was dealt to Charlotte in the dispersal draft. Looking at our next game with the Denver Nuggets, I'm wondering who's going to stop Nene', Gallinari, Chandler and Harrington, all bigs that LA will have to guard.

Amen.  Some guy actually ask the question of who would start at the 3...  I love Batum also but he is a FAR cry from Wallace.  Wallace, All Star.  Batum, not.  Wallace all defensive team.  Batum, not.  Wallace 17 double doubles for the season.  Batum, not.  And this guy ask who would start!!!  Way, WAY to attached to their players...  That is why Portland has had so many expiring contracts with no value at the end.

I like this trade because "Crash" is one of my favorite players and now i get to see him as a blazer, so i rate this an A. But only a A because we had to get rid of Dante who was finally blossoming into a nice young player and because it left us thin at the 5 position. But I think Cho will pick up a FA 5 or a Buy Out 5.

i DON'T KNOW HOW WE ARE GOING TO WIN ANY GAMES WITHOUT A CENTER! ALL 3 OF OUR CENTERS ARE GONE IN ONE MOMENT! WHO'LL PLAY THE CENTER POSITION--L-TRAIN? THAT'S NOT HIS POSITION--WE HAVE PENDING GAMES WITH TEAMS THAT HAVE REAL CENTERS--L-TRAIN WILL BE IN FOUL TROUBLE IN NO TIME!!! HELP-WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? I LOVE JOEL AND DANTE--THEY WERE THE TOUGH GUYS ON THE TEAM AND NOW WE HAVE NOTHING VERY TALL OR TOUGH--EVERYONE SAYS THAT WALLACE IS TOUGH, BUT HE'S ONLY 6'6". HE'D BETTER BE WORTH ALL THOSE PLAYERS AND THE DRAFT PICKS TOO!

I have been a fan since I was in diapers I have the pictures to prove it.  I now know why we hardly ever make it to the playoffs.  I grade this as an F!!!!!  Without Joel I hope now we never make it to another playoff.  How could we.  His wife Noelle, his son Anthony, and him have been loyal to us and have worked all they could to make Portland there home.  They moved across the country to be here.  How many negative things have we heard about Roy, bot God forbid if we ever even thought about trading him, the city might come to a stand still.  What have we heard negatively about the Przybilla's?  Nothing!!!!  We don't ever deserve to even come close to going to the playoffs ever again.  To the Przybilla's, where ever you go that is my new team, I got your back.  And I have to say that I am embarrassed and ashamed of the city of portland for treating you this way.  I am so sorry.

You call yourself a fan? This is a business nuff said.  I grade this as a strong B+ mostly because of the 2 first round picks that we had to give up.  I do appreciate everything that Joel did for this team and he will be missed.  Hopefully we get some quality play out of wallace, and I look forward to seeing him in a blazer uniform.  I would have liked to see some depth added  at the 5 or even the 4.  Good job cho lets see how he handles the off season.

IS NATE GOING TO LET WALLACE WEAR HIS SIGNATURE HEADBAND? THERE'S A BAN ON HEADBANDS HERE, YOU KNOW--AND WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE CONCUSSIONS THAT HE'S HAD IN THE PAST? OH, NO, ANOTHER INJURY WAITING TO HAPPEN----WE HAVE NENE AND HARRINGTON TOMORROW NIGHT WITHOUT ANY CENTER! HOW DOES THAT WORK OUT FOR YOU WITHOUT ANY CENTERS OR BACKUPS? JOEL EVEN BLOCKED KOBI'S SHOT LAST NIGHT FOR GOD'S SAKE--NO ONE KNEW THAT WE SAW JOEL AND DANTE'S LAST GAME IN A BLAZER UNI!!!!! MY GRADE IS A B AT BEST!

You cant claim to be a lifelong fan of an NBA team and cry and quit when someone gets traded.  It's the nature of the beast.

Joel was a class act and he will be missed for sure.

Everyone don't forget, we gave up 3 to get one.  That means we have two open slots on the roster, right?  I'm sure there are more plans which haven't unfolded yet (Expiring contract, free agent, promising player from the D-league, etc).

Why isn't Wesley getting any love in this thread?

I'm so upset that we got rid of cunningham. SO upset. I know he's still very young but he's got so much potential. He's becoming the definition of beast mode. I'm gonna support him no matter where he goes. As for the Vanilla Gorilla, I'm iffy on it. I just don't think he'll ever be the player he was before the injury. I know it takes alot of time to heal and he's getting better but we need great. We need Canby back and fully healthy. And as for Marks who cares? I don't mean to be rude but he hasn't done squat for this team since he got here and he's taking up a spot that we could use for someone else *ehem pendergraph cough*

Brookelyn you ain't a real Trailblazer fan anway, yes Pryzbilla was a great player for our team and a great fit. I loved him as a mentor and leader but besides that he was diminishing as a player and if/when GO comes back, we won't have any space for him with Oden and Camby. I think it was best for him, I hope his  and Cunningham's contract gets bought out so we can bring him and Cunningham back.

    Hacksaw:
    1) Adding an all-star caliber player without giving up anyone that plays more than 15 mins/gm for your team constitutes a massive upgrade in talent level.
    2) TRUE Center? Marcus Camby (he still lives)
    3) Yes, you need capable backups. You are right. Keeping players because they are capable backups at the expense of acquiring stars, however, is asinine. No need to apologize for "disillusioning" me.
    4) One game against Denver is inconsequential.
    5) Do not cite Gallinari, Chandler or Harrington as "big men" when trying to prove a point.

I give this trade a B+.  The only reason this trade is not voted an A is because I am sad to see the vanilla gorilla go, he brought many intangibles, to the floor that don't show up in the box score, but Wallace is a good player that can help take some pressure off of LA...And now Roy is back!!  Sounds like we got our own big 3 brewing!

I am a fan of Lamarcus dominating inside and out!

    B+
    1.   If Roy doesn't come back the same and score, we have a guard who is a legit scorer and defender.

    2.   If Roy is 3/4 of the player he was we have a big three who can produce points. I like the way this starting lineup looks- Camby, Lamarcus, Roy/W.M., Wallace, Miller and the bench looks solid.

    3.  I do worry about the lack of size at the 5, OKC did just get better with the trade for Perkins, the lakers are huge up front, and we need a real center to back up Camby.

    4. Anytime you can get an Allstar in a reasonable trade you do it, Cho did the right thing for our future.

I'm excited to see how it works out and how Nate gets them to play together.

And you know why Portland fans get emotionally attached to players? Because this is the only professional sports team in this area (not really counting soccer at this point). I gave this trade an A+ because I firmly believe Joel will be back in a Portland uniform. It may not be in a month if his contract is bought out but maybe next season because he will be a free agent (hoping he doesn't retire). Maybe we traded our bigs because Oden is secretly coming back in a month or two and he's finally going to be physically and mentally ready to play some NBA ball (lol).

A+ for the trade.  Wallace brings a lot of talent to the team.  We basically got a starter without having to give up any starters.  Marks was worthless.  Cunningham has a future in the NBA but he isn't a star.  Przybilla will be missed but he isn't getting any younger.  There have been retirement talks and honestly he has been at about 60% of what he used to be able to give since recovering from surgery.  He may never get back to being close to 100%.  That said, it was a smart move on Cho's part.  My only concern is who is going to be at the center spot until Camby comes back?

Keep in mind that one of these 1st rounders were from the Bayless deal. If my memory serves me correct. It wasn't even protected by what place the Raptors finish in either..meaning we gave them 2 LATE ROUND 1st round draft picks (meaning garbage). Why think of the potential upside to a draft pick let alone all the time it takes to develop a distant 1st rounder than to get talent RIGHT NOW in Wallace. Dante was a prospect that was just turning the corner, but still no where near the talent as G. Wallace. Przybilla will greatly be missed, but even he himself said he was playing on one leg...poor Gorilla.

This trade has amazing written all over it pending we can afford the cap.

Joel was my favorite player.  He was possibly the most loyal Blazer of all time.  This is a stab in the back to him.  As far as increasing the chances of a run for the 4th playoff spot then it might pay off so I would say it was a good trade.  I'll give it a C+.

I live in Eastern Oregon.  You don’t have a lot of Blazers fans out here and it is obvious the Blazers management could care less with the black out of coverage to us by Comcast. We can't get the games on Dish or Direct TV so if you subscribe to them your left out there to scrape info off the internet.

Like 35,000 new members in a week?
And why are some people TALKING IN ALL CAPS? ITS SO WEIRD AND SLOPPY, it remeinds me of a child trapped ina  glass box yelling inaudibly..

babbit will play the 4 spot.... this opens up playing time for him... this team will flourish for the rest of the season mark my word
this team will do the opposite of flourish is babbit gets in the number 4 spot.

The big question i have, is why are so many people attached to Pyrzbilla?
He has never been one of Portlands  stand out players, and to call him a role player is a stretch at that.
As a blazer fan, or a fan of any team, you would think that one would want its team to be best it can be, to go out there and play with such fierce players and come out with the W.
Well this team has had a lot of trouble over the past few years, teams have been lookin at us in their rearveiw for a while now and suddenly we are in the top ten in the race......after the halfway point?....with Roy and Camby injured? ....and we just got an All Star Power Forward???? WHOA!!!!

This is great for the team, the chemistry will be the only question i have...only concern, but i think this is going to surprise the rest of the league, Wallace could just be the missing link that NBA anthropologists talk about.
    Watch out Now.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.
