There has got to be more. I hope there's more. If not...way to go Cho. If there is more (still crossing fingers for CP3) WAY TO GO CHO!!! Just wait and see for the report. By the way the source is from Marc Stein of ESPN.

I have a feeling the team is going to lose Bayless, and instead of getting Chris Paul, theyre going to get some random big.
Acquiring CP3, now, would just be completely illogical. How is he supposed to help this team? by playing center?
This team almost feels like a fantasy team.

But as this trade stands...just...trade Cho.

Cp3 is a great player, and can help any team, but i dont think thats what we should be focusing on.
LeBron James could help any team as well, but we dont need him....

I am so angry with this, what is this guys obsession with underdeveloped players?
Does he enjoy having such a babyback team? Does he work for another team in this division>?
Thats the real conspiracy, someone should look into that, would not be surprised if he does, because he is just breaking this teams chances, of ever winning, DOWN!

This is going to be a tough sell for me if true. Bayless was one of the few players we had who played with a chip on his shoulder. Also, he was great in providing instant offense and he played his best when the lights shone brightest. Great pick up for NO if this happens. Monte knows all this kid needs is PT. I really hope its an unprotected pick. Best of luck in NO JB!

The 1st round pick POR receives from NOH is top 7 protected this year and top 8 protected each of the next 3 years
We better hope NO is a lottery team, but that's pretty good pick we picked up. Looks like we should have just kept Jarrett Jack all along? Does this mean AJ is the primary backup or will Wesley and Roy get time at the 1?

we're so stacked at guard that this deal makes a lot of sense. i'm guessing that on the depth chart, Armon will be listed as the backup, but most of the playing time behind Andre will go to Brandon, Wesley or Rudy.

DHawes22: i remember liking Jarrett Jack. Armon reminds me of him a lot.

IMO, as things stand at the time of this post, AJ will get a substantial run at the backup.  Roy and Wesley will have the offense running through them a high percentage of the time, but AJ compliments both better than does Dre

I have to disagree about the worst trade ever by the Blazers,  I remember a 8 player trade to denver for kiki vandawee.   That was stupid.

But trade Bayless for only a future round-pick.   Not smart,  it better be a garneteed round pick

According to Jason Quick, The Blazers also get a $2.3 million trade exception on the deal, which makes this move look a bit sweeter than previously thought. That has value, especially when trying to get in on multiple team trades ...

With the current playing of Wesley .. I understand why getting rid of Bayless would make sense ..

Bayless has not developed into a better PG at all in his stay with us, even after all the grooming we did on him ..

Trading Bayless for a 1st round draft pick would be a GREAT move .. if that pick is a unprotected top 10 draft pick .. but honestly Nola is going to make the playoffs this year and quite possibly not have anything higher then at most .. a top 20(ish) pick .. and if that is the case ..

    Chow effed up ..

Bayless has all the speed, talent and emotion to actually be an elite lvl guard if given the right op for that ..

I for one see this very trade .. coming back to hurt us .. more then anything it could possibly help us ..

PS- Our bench has taken an absolutely devastating hit now .. And I for one do not like it ..

I think it was a good trade to free up a spot and for the fact that Jerryd didn't seem happy here. He's obviously not going to do what he's capable of in Nate's system, and what in the hell do you guys expect to get from Bayless anyway? CP3? Are you kidding? Also maybe this is some sort of move to make a bigger move so be patient! If nothing happens in two months then complain, not 3 minutes later!
I think it's good for both JB and Portland because he really wasn't working out here and we have way too many guards!

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TomL, Lenwen76 and Kim right on with this one.  The trade frees up roster space and will give Roy and Wesley more touches.

IMO, Bayless was shipped for the same reason Travis was.  They both took too many ill-advised shots, didn't show enough improvement (Bayless showed more than Travis, I'll give him that), and turned the ball over a lot.  Great trade!  It'll also give us another piece for a more significant trade in the future.

Alright, that actually makes the trade A LOT better. That 2.3 million trade exception opens up a lot of options when you talk trade. That's pretty much one less player to trade. Not as angry anymore.

I like it for the Blazers, and for Rex. Good luck Rex !!  Go AJ !!

What holds this team back, are the constant signing of inexperienced players, the fact that he just gave away a future all star is just a fat cherry on top of it.
I know this team is stacked at the point, but i feel as if the wrong player was traded away.
IF anything Armon should have been traded. Because now he has a huge question mark playing back up PG. How is armon going to do in his first season? This trade came way too soon, and the fact that the blazers finally made a trade, well that came WAY too late. Jerryd Bayless is one of the best "double clutch" players i have ever seen with a basketball, that right there is an awesome weapon for a PG to have. I have tried to also explain this fact many times before: If bayless had been properly worked out, he would without a doubt be the starting point guard right now. We also dont know how long andre is going to be around, not to mention how long he can stay healthy on this bubonic plague of a team. I just dont like that Bayless was let go, he has been overlooked for too long now, hopefully he can get the proper time he deserves, and find a great mentor in Paul. Mr. Cho will be very displeased come the all star game, Bayless is going to $hine this season.

I mean what sounds better, A better Bayless starting with Andre as a backup, or Andre starting with a rookie backup, and next year if Andre goes, you still got a hardly experienced PG with an even less experienced one at backup?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Bayless just seems like the type of player you don't want to get on his bad side, because he'll haunt you. I hope he doesn't turn into a bugaboo for us to deal with whenever we play the Hornets.

It seems like we had 16 players under contract - all guaranteed except for Mills. <-- is that correct? If it is, we had way too many guards and no backup 4.

Now we leave Mills out and pick up a backup 4/5 type player and we have a roster spot for it. + We can sign someone without making a trade. Is there someone out there Cho wants to sign who for whatever reason we can sign, but we can't trade for?

I have no problem with any of that. Outside of the fact that Bayless was the ONLY player we have who consistantly took it to  the basket and got to the line, I wasn't much of a fan of the rest of his game.

The problem I do have is that we traded the 13th pick (Brandon Rush - who is bigger and arguably a better player when you look at rebounding and defense), Jarrett Jack and Josh McRoberts, and took on Ike Diagu's contract to move up to 11 to get Bayless. Now we're basically just letting him go for a future unknown. NO is getting a player who's proven to be one of the best guards out of that draft class with tons of room for growth.

It makes sense on some levels, but still I think there's more to it. Paul Allen has nixed lots of trades. It's not just Cho. PA went for it to for some reason too.

Great trade.....  I don't understand people who say Bayless was going to be a "future all-star"..  Seriously??  And I like what was said in an earlier post; who do you expect for him, CP3?  We have way too many gaurds and opening up a roster spot for a big is a great move by Cho.  Having Matthews or Brandon Roy play ten more minutes at point is better than Ball-hogging Bayless... Plus the Hornets are bound for the lottery this year and especially if the trade CP3. Without CP3 they are a top 5 pick in the draft.... getting someone in the lottery will be better and have more of a contribution then Bayless.

people, people please, the hornets are NOT dumping Paul this year. Andre IS going to be the starting pg (this trade doesn't really affect his role). i know a lot of people want or even think this type of deal could happen. obviously, it's not.

Jerryd has talent, but according to the espn story, he will be coming off the bench for them. he'll do well for them. with us, he won't get the minutes to develop into the player we want him to be. we're better off moving on now and looking toward the future. the draft pick, along with the trade exception, are pretty equal compensation for Jerryd.

i hate to even do this, but Tay, once again you show your complete ignorance about the game of basketball. 1. the odds of Jerryd ever becoming an all-star are extremely slim. he'll be a solid player for years to come, but there's no way anyone can predict him to be a 'future all-star.' 2. every time you draft aand sign a rookie, you're signing an 'inexperienced' player. 3. you really think Andre will have trouble staying healthy ... the guy has only missed five games in 11 seasons. he's just about the least injury prone guy in the league.

I don't know why most of you are so pissed off about this trade.  It really makes sense in quite a few different ways.  It frees up Playing time for Rudy, Wesley Mathews, Roy and Armon, it means that we can now keep either Mills or Pendergragh, it puts us in a good position to make another bigger trade, and also the pick will probably be somewhere between 10-15 since I don't think New orleans will be much better this year even with a healthy cp3.  We can get some pretty good players with a pick between 10-15, I meen Kobe was selected 13th so you never know, this trade could end up helping us out a ton in the future.

Umm...yeah Bayless wont be an all-star anytime soon, he's going to play the same role in NO as he did last year for us when we were extremely injury-plague. The Back-up PG and third string SG. He's going to have a solid NBA career and really still wish we had him on our team, and still believe that the wrong player was traded. However the 2.3 million dollar trade exception makes the deal a little bit more acceptable.

Bayless is absolutely not better than Dre. I'm not a big Nate fan, but even he knows to start Dre and play Dre more than JB. Bayless does not have good court vision, he gets his layups/dunks blocked regularly, he gets called for charges frequently and he just doesn't seem to want to pass. Everything that Dre is much better at, which is what you want from your pg! I mean Bayless was making improvement last season with his passing, but this preseason he just seemed to keep making bad decisions offensively again. It very well may be Nate's fault, but he is not working out here. I think AJ is a much smarter player so far and he is a true pg! Plus we wouldn't get a 1st round pick and $2.3 mil for AJ... yet. Maybe, just maybe we got lucky with AJ.

I really wish JB well though, I'm sure he has not been happy here and I never heard him complain or ask for a trade. I do think Nate promised some things to him and didn't follow through, and had him on a tight leash for almost the whole time. I think he will be much happier in NO.

It was Good trade for our team. Way to Go CHO!!!!
    Reasons
    1. Bayless was not progressing into the point we needed.
a.his preseason play wasn't stellar for all the work he put in over the off season.
        b.he still can't shoot.
c.W.M. and Armon Johnson show more promise.
d.still out of control and untrustworthy for Nate to hand team to.
        e. as a 2 guard he is kinda small defensively
2.shedding a contract is always good as a option to get a better player.
    3. we have like ten players who can do what Bayless can do.

All that said, I think if we just get a first round and nothing else it was a bad trade, but I think we must be moving pieces to get better ( I trust this is the motive) and I 'm really excited to see where this trade leads us. All that said

woopee! He was fast! Therefore we should have at least gotten John Wall for Bayless, he's fast too. Oh but Wall is unproven, so maybe we should just try to get Usain Bolt.
I bet Usain Bolt would have as hard a time finishing at the rim as Jerryd did if he doesn't bulldoze someone over or turn it over first like JB does.

Where did all these one dimensional fans come from? Seriously, you can't write anything better next time because JBay wasn't working out here. Maybe Nate should have developed him more and given him more minutes, but he didn't and now we have too many guards and this frees up a spot to maybe get a big or make some other deal either very soon or further down the road. Why is this so hard to comprehend? And what in the world does everyone think we could have gotten with Bayless anyway?

I am so angry with this, what is this guys obsession with underdeveloped players?
Does he enjoy having such a babyback team? Does he work for another team in this division>?
Thats the real conspiracy, someone should look into that, would not be surprised if he does, because he is just breaking this teams chances, of ever winning, DOWN!

This is coming from the same guy that said people who believe in an NBA ref conspiracy are "lunatics" and you don't believe in that "hocus pocus sad story" and yet you are telling us the real conspiracy is (some unspecified person) is working for another team in our division.

I have a feeling the team is going to lose Bayless, and instead of getting Chris Paul, theyre going to get some random big.
Acquiring CP3, now, would just be completely illogical. How is he supposed to help this team? by playing center?
This team almost feels like a fantasy team.

Hey genius, WE ALREADY LOST BAYLESS! And no GM would be stupid enough to trade Chris Paul straight up for Bayless. And how would acquiring CP3 now be illogical? And your last two sentences don't even make sense! You are illogical, irrelevant and you contradict yourself all the time.
Seriously Tay, you are the stupidest person I've ever seen on here. You can call me rude, a know it all, a jerk, I don't care, but you are so stupid you wouldn't know up from down if I gave you three guesses.

Oh don't you love being called out and followed around?
I am a fan of comcast and the blazers making deals that keep screwing us over!! woot!

    Blazer fans,
I know we have been raised to always hate the Lakers. It is time to look past the Lakers. (With or without Oden.)

Think about  7 games against the east for rings. Rondo, Rose or Chalmers. I for one <3 Rex, but want more size defending. He will do well in NO with CP3.

Agree on way to go Cho. If Mills is waived also, he knocked it out of the park this weekend.

Please remember all Blazer fans are friends here. Keep it basketball related. Winning an online argument is like winning the special olympics :)

Bring on the Suns. Go Blazers !!!!

    I am a fan of scrapping !

Can we have a vote to vote TomL out of the forums kind of like those reality shows? Every time he posts I can like predict what he's going to say.

(insert smart mouth insult)(insert some basketball knowledge[insert insult])(insert personal attacks)

It's pretty tiring, and least...hmm who was that guy...mblazer? Back a few years ago, who was pretty predictable also gave kudos every once so often.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
