Late last night on twitter, Alex Kennedy, who is an nba insider, had numerous tweets about the news of Andrew Bynums knees and looking beyond into next year. One of his tweets talked about his free agency, and said that the teams he sees who will pursue Bynum are Atlanta, Dallas, Houston,  and Portland. Now I know a big man with knee problems does not sound good to us Blazer fans, but I think if Bynum can prove this offseason that he's healthy (because I do think Philly tried to rush him too many times) I think Olshey could pop the trigger. Plus a front court of Aldridge and Bynum  could be the best in the NBA

Too much money for the risk, he's currently making 17M. This from a news feed, "In NBA history, 45 players have made an All-Star Game, then missed a full regular season (for any reason). Only 9 of these 45 players (20%) were able to come back to the NBA and play in another All-Star Game."

I just threw up in my mouth.

My secondary reaction is that Kennedy is just naming teams who have outwardly expressed a need at the 5...not necessarily that Portland is interested in Bynum specifically.  Bynum would have been a good fit here...with Bonzi, Ruben, JR, and Sheed...not so much now however.

Dude's character flaws are off the charts.  Not that I care about that too much, but doesn't sound like anything this Blazer organization would ever consider.  I think Alex is full of it.

Bynum is capable of huge numbers. And he's big enough to protect the rim. I don't know if the Blazers are willing to go overbudget, unless it's exactly the player that can help us most.

Funny GO has come up in so many of your posts because, with Bynum suffering a BRoy-like setback, it's now entirely possible he will take the floor in an NBA uni before Bynum does again.

No team in their right mind is going to even consider giving Bynum more than 9 mil in one year. If Portland does consider signing him, I wouldn't mind a 1 year 6 mil deal. Other than that the deal is too high for Portland, especially with his knees.

NO! Please avoid bigs with knee problems at any cost! Name a 7 ft center coming off double knee surgery that improved or maintained a high level of production? You can get a half dozen good players for the cost of Bynum. I've enjoyed having a roster without guys in crutches sponging up salary this season.

I agree with many of you. Bynum won't be commanding 17mil like he's getting this year, but I would not be against a 1 year deal or possibly 2 for around 7 to 8 per. With that said though, I would much rather spend money elsewhere, and i say sign Al Jefferson to a multi year deal. I think he's the best center on the market, and Utah won't attempt to retain him. So I say attempting to sign Al Jefferson, another big like Ekpe Udoh, resigning Eric Maynor, and with our draft pick (IF we still have it), use it for a scoring guard.

al jefferson wouldn't be that bad at the start of the season I would of said no because he's slow and I was under the impression that we were gonna be a running team but it's obvious were just a half court team

If we want a defensive center it's not Jefferson. Dalembert is a better defender and Jefferson is slow.

no andrew, i rather sign dalembert for 3 year and 3 million and get kevin seraphin for 3 year and 4 million, bang 2 great defense and rebounding man for injure prone Bynum and we can use our first round pick if we have them for cj mccollum. he play like Damian does and give us scoring punch off the bench and get lebryan nash to back up tired batum. bang we instantly become a 4/5 seed over summer. remember no.1 starting 5 with hopefully 35 point every night from the bench will give us a win every night. this is a way better plan than bynum, he eat up caps and will never play for us. so what you think blazers nation, you like my plan or bynum plan better

other 2nd round pick would be cj wilcox to back up Wesley

BLASER I wanted McCollum too about a month ago and before that but I don't know if that would be the smartest option, however I would love him alongside Lillard, but I know someone mentioned in another topic that there are a lot of 7 foot centers in this draft who are not very risky but by some chance they could have great reward, because lets face it there are not a lot centers in free agency who could be a part of our future and who we could afford. So really our only option to find a young center for the future is through the draft.

But I talked about Meyers not being the future in another thread, but I hope I'm wrong and then we get McCollum as a 6th man. Maybe Neil and Terry think Meyers is the future.

rudy gobert might be decent or isaiah austin but I saw one mock draft that projected us picking up kelly olynyk and although he might look good especially since he has already developed a pretty solid back to the basket game his foot speed isn't where it needs to be for him to be the type of defender we need

I would say no to Bynum, to risky...

And people, are you serious? Did you noticed we have 8 players guaranteed for next season, and 5 of them are rookies! Do we need more young players (unexperienced)?  I dont think so, adding a top12 1st round pick, sure, if we have it... We need to go after experienced players, that give us good D when we need, scoring off the bench, rebounding...

We lack experience in this team, in 15 players, only 3 (Aldridge, Pavlovic and Jeffries) have more then 4 years of experience in the NBA...

What we really need is a defensive role playing center and a great 6 man behind Wes off the bench. I'm with Nuno on this one, we have plenty of rookies and not enough young vets who can impact a game. With Maynor we solved the backup pg. I hope we resign Maynor and Hickson and build a competitive bench. I don't see an issue with JJ remaining a starter and sliding to the 4 when Lamarcus is on the bench. 21 rebounds against the Bulls plus JJ played the best defense I've seen in the last game.

That´s it riverman, i think that´s  one of the ways we can go on the offseason, and maybe the best thing to do is keeping JJ, what he is right now is due to the oportnity he got here so i think he will be receptive to stay here ad maybe even reject other bigger offers due to the role he has here, he is also one of the favourites of the fans, and add only a few more pieces, instead of going for a bigger change...

With the players we have right now we can win 35/40 games a season (near playoff spot), if we get a couple quality bench players, we easily climb to 4-6 spot...

Maybe Emeka Okafor? He plays decent defense. Blocks a couple shots, but doesn't have much of an offensive game. Fab Melo is a rookie, but I think he will be an excellent defender. Great shotblocker. Birdman if the Heat don't resign him. Enes Kanter or Derrick Favors. David West, Dalembert, Tristan Thompson and Jermaine O'Neal. I did not take into account salary or whether their team would trade them, I just think that these guys would be nice.

how about Ekpe Udoh, he is a good defensive player, get him for 4 year and 3 million. get aminu, he can steal and dunk, get him for 4 year and 4 million. draft mccollum if our 1st round pick still there, and get ryan kelly and eric moreland (he can be the next camby in the nba) in the 2nd round. get hickson back for 5 year and 5 million dollars. bang our team can easily make the playoff next year between 4-6 seed.

    pg-lillard/mccollum

    sg-matthew/claver/barton

    sf-batum/aminu

    pf-aldridge/udoh

    c-hickson/leonard/kelly

this team will have the same starting line up, but remember Lillard is still improving, and our bench can play up to 15 mins. every night while providing big number. this team would be young, but ready for the highlight

    sg-matthews/claver/barton

    sf-batum/aminu/moreland

    pf-aldridge/udoh/moreland

    c-hickson/leonard/kelly

this 2nd unit have everything from defensive to scoring to rebounding to energy to productive game. i think that moreland would be a good player to pick up since he can guard duarnt

keep maynor I like mccollum but I think if we do keep our pick it's gonna be right @ the 12th spot and I'm sure he's gonna go @ the 10th or 11th pick maybe his stock will fall but I doubt it but even then slide claver to sf or have claver and mccollum split minutes @ the 2 gaurd

Problem with Okafor is his contract. He's getting huge money and I think it's guaranteed. Jefferson makes 16 million...ouch...wouldn't touch that kind of payroll. I've mentioned before that teams are going to be scrambling this summer to dump cap space like never before in history. There will be a ton of free agents available looking for 3 year deals at less money. If Houston makes a play for Bynum, Asik might be on the block which would be a perfect fit. If Atlanta makes a play for Bynum, Horford may be on the block. It's going to snowball players this offseason.

I don't think the rockets would part with Asik. They are a fast paced team, the fastest, and Bynum will not be able to keep with that pace with two bad knees. But if they do, GIMME!

The Rockets may part with Asik if they believe it will open up enough cap room for them to go after Dwight Howard this summer. Risky? Yes. But I wouldn't put it past them.
