Trail Blazers (29-34) Vs Knicks (38-24)

    What To Watch For

    Back-To-Back
The Knicks are in the midst of a five-game, seven-day West coast road trip, which is already off to a rocky start. Back on Sunday, New York was only able to muster up 63 points in a 29-point blowout against the Warriors. Wednesday night they face-off against the Nuggets in the late game of an ESPN double-header, meaning tip might not take place until 8:45-50 local time. No team ever likes having to play the a back-to-back situation in the Mile High City. Not only does the altitude tire you out easier but a commute from the Pepsi Center to the Denver airport usually takes well over an hour. Who knows what time the Knicks will actually arrive in the Rose City Thursday morning, but it bodes well for the Trail Blazers who have the night off tonight and will feed off of the crowd's energy throughout the game. Not only could New York come into Thursday's contest exhausted, but they come in banged up as well. Amare Stoudemire is out for about six weeks after undergoing right knee surgery and Carmelo Anthony is playing through a nagging knee injury of his own. As long as Portland is taking care of the basketball, playing at their pace and physically dominating the entire 48 minutes of action, they'll take home a nice win over the current No. 2 squad out East.

    Lillard On The Big Stage
It doesn't get any bigger than playing in Madison Square Garden. But hooping in the Big Apple didn't faze Portland's poised rookie, Damian Lillard, who led his Trail Blazers to a 105-100 victory back on new Year's Day. Dame put together a nice outing, scoring 21 points, handing out 6 assists, and pulling down 5 rebounds, but he was at his best when his team needed him the most. Portland had a sizable lead the entire night until Carmelo Anthony (45 points) and Co. made their push. Just when the fans thought the comeback was comeback, Lillard hit them with his patented step-back three to silence the crowd and secure the road win. And the bad news for New York is that Lillard's in a groove offensive right now, as he's strung together  seven consecutive 20+ point performances. Although I expect Dame to make it eight straight games with 20 or more points, look for him to rack up the assists against the Knicks. Neither Ray Felton or Jason Kidd (at this stage in his career) can keep Damian in front of them, which means he'll be living in the paint, looking for his bigs to dump the ball of to for easy buckets if Tyson Chandler has to come over on the weak-side.

I look forward to seeing the Hamburglar try and drop 50 on us to bad his pal Ronald was at the Grizzlies game I hoping Dame drops 50 on his ass but, Dame not selfish like that, Melo is their only post player so just stay on their shooters and we have to guard penetration but, the problem with that is were not great at doing that hopefully that will be addressed in the off season and we will get better at that.

Were playing the Knicks, the game on TNT and it always seem we drop the first home game after a road trip and then get it together so a Blazer win is due Go Blazers.

Im as sparked as you about Cupcake coming back here. I know its a team game but subconsciously i want it to be personally against Felton. He's been less than apologetic in his interviews about his stint here in the City of Roses. He hasnt manned the hell up yet and say that he came to us in horrific shape. He hasnt yet asked forgiveness for coming into our house, OUR HOUSE !!!! with that holier than thou { expletive } He was a cancer that became malignant that eventually took root in the psyche of a few other players. The one thing that , wait scratch that, one of the many things that Dame has over this cat is integrity. Fats is predictable. He's going to want to come in here and play well. As he should. But we're angry right now. When you have what we have and are still able to go toe to toe with the best defensive team in the game, you better had learned something. New York isnt Memphis. Stoudemire down. Kidd...fossil.Carmelo, banged up. Im not saying under-estimate them, im saying run them into the ground.

Posted this on the wrong thread earlier but as I said, it seems like 10 years since we've been from 25 wins to 30 and I hope that curse is lifted tonight. Also hope they show a Felton montage pregame of video clips from last season. Dribbling off his foot ...that's 10 minutes of film, gasping for air in the huddle on time outs and scarfing a dozen cupcakes to top it off! Go Blazers!

That would be sooooo funny hhaha. Just on the big screen, show a welcome back video for Felton lmao.

But this game to me has the feel for a possible blow out.. Injuries (LA, half of our productive bench, Batum, Wes), low morale, lost a few games recently that were killers..  I hope I'm wrong though.

And also, does anyone know who's commentating tonight? I'm hoping for Reggie Miller, i always love him and he loves Lillard.

When I was asked, as I inevitably am every year, before the season started which game I considered a must see...my response differed from that of the 10+ prior years.  The Lakers have always been my fav match-up.  This year though...my answer was THIS GAME.  Fatty Felton is back.  My question, and one I would reference with a sign if in attendance...'do you still wanna fight the entire city of Portland?'  My sign might read, 'watcha doin' after the game Fatty?'  Looking forward to watching Felton drop 50 on Portland tonight...

If we keep J Smith in check, we'll blow them out. If we dont,he wont be able to do it alone. Protect the house. I think the one two punch of Lillard and Maynor may prove to be too much for them though.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...

I think what Stotts is doing is superb. His plays are great. I remember the only play he ever called for Meyers Leonard, against the Bobcats. Great movement, got LMA a good mid range look, got Batum a decent three look and the got Meyers way down ...
