Trail Blazers (20-18) Vs Cavaliers (9-31)

    What To Watch For

    Lillard Vs Irving
Arguably two of the best, young point guards in the NBA will duel for the first time in their careers. If you recall, Irving was still recovering from an injury when these two squads battled it out back on December 1st - a 118-117 overtime win for the Trail Blazers. Each is the engine that drives their respective offense. Will Irving come out and attack the rookie, Lillard? Will Dame try and get Kyrie in foul trouble early on? There's a lot of questions that won't get answered until tipoff. A lot of people will look to see which players put up the most points, but I think the winner of this point guard battle and ultimately, the game, will come down to which PG grabs more rebounds, gets their teammates involved, and can limit their turnovers. This is especially important for Lillard as his supporting cast is superior to Irving's. If he can get his guys rolling, then get his in the second-half, another Rose Garden win streak will have started.

    Clean Up The Glass
Although the Trail Blazers found a way to sneak out of Cleveland with a win last month, they got beat up on the boards, losing the rebound battle 48-41. A lot of that had to do with Anderson Varejao grabbing a game-high 17 boards. Fortunately for Portland, Varejao will not be in uniform this time around as he's sidelined with an injury. That means it's up to JJ Hickson and LaMarcus Aldridge to patrol the paint and clean up every loose ball in site. By controlling the glass, the Blazers can limit the Cavs to just one shot each possession, push tempo on the fast break, and add second-chance points to the scoreboard.

No Varejao, no problem. I can't believe I just said that. But he gets props, he was putting an All-Star season in before his injury.

Plenty of teams looked like or were percieved as not being a problem. We lost to them, badly. Sacramento,Toronto and Detroit come to mind. The fact that we cant rest our starters always gives me pause when i start thinking about who we should beat. Factor in that last night we lost in overtime to a team that gave us no rest and you have a recipe for a mentally fatigued disaster. Stotts is managing the amount of minutes our starters play magnificently but he unfortunately cannot muster production on either end by our bench.

I had the feeling this game will have the same feeling as that Kings game and it's looking that way.

Nice call common. Ughhhh... All you need to know about this game if you missed it...Batum had more TOs (9) than the entire 9 win Cleveland Cav team (8). This one is gonna sting for awhile.

That was pathetic we could not stop penetration even late when we doubled Irving he still passed it off to Thompson who either scored or got fouled. LA and JJ both need to learn how to box out. Seriously 7 offensive rebounds to Tristan Thompson. We had 14 more rebounds 3 more assists but we got beaten by a terrible team because we could not stop turning the ball over. Nico stop jump passing. LA are you serious 4 shots in side the paint 4 get down on the block and do some work. I am so sick of watching this team get crushed by points in the paint. I have nothing good to say about this game so I will stop writing.

Turnovers are getting harder to watch..Nic had almost a triple double if you count the turnovers. This was a team we should have destroyed in the paint. We need some bench scoring, bottom line. My biggest complaint last season was bricked layups, free throws and bad passes. Last two losses it's been Deja Vu.

Not DPOY. All American. Player of the year in his conference twice. Past four years, McCollum, Muscala, McCollum, Muscala.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
