    What To Watch For

    Bench Scoring
    The last time these two teams met, they faced off in the Valley of the Sun where the Suns won convincingly, 114-87, due to a dominant bench performance. Led by Jermaine O'Neal and PJ Tucker (28 points, 12-16) shooting, the Phoenix reserves outscored their Portland counterparts, 43-13. That's right, eight Trail Blazers played off the bench and only recorded 13 points. Thankfully, that game was back on November 21st and the second-unit for Portland has started to blossom. For the Trail Blazers to make amends for the poor showing in the desert, they must win the battle of the benches.

    Can Portland contain the Polish Hammer? The Blazers play without a true center and give up a lot of size in this matchup, so it will be important for Portland to neutralize Gortat the Blazers guards can attack the basket, looking for contact in hopes of drawing a couple of early fouls on him, throwing him out of his rhythm for the rest of the night. On defense, the Trail Blazers must defend the pick and roll. Gortat loves to set high picks and roll to the bucket for easy dueces. It's imperative for the Blazers to fight through those picks, causing disruption in Phoenix's gameplan.

    Differant team than the one that played on Nov.21st. This team is starting to gel and come together. We deffinately still need some bench work I thought Barton would come along further than what he is . Claver and Freeland are about what I thought they would be. Batum has suprised me pleasantly, he plays the entire game whether he is hitting shots or not. We might not win many more games but I do not think we will be blown out of anymore either and we will be a team that otherns will not want to play.

    Don't look now, but our Trailblazers are at .500 again, something I admittedly didn't think would happen. Portland is also enjoying a four game winning streak for the first time in two years.

    yea I didn't think we would get to .500 either in fact I was kind of doubtful without aldridge if we could beat denver but our team really stepped up I was actually pretty surprised to see babbit contribute a stat line that you would like to see a legit sixth man put up

    Need to keep up the defensive pressure against the Suns. If we keep the momentum we've gained this should be a game we could win!

    The Polish Head (as I don't condone adding gravitas to his name unless it is in reference to the sheer size of his giant bald melon) was free to do as he pleased last time the Blazers played the Suns.  I surprised noone made mention of it.  He killed our front court - but JJ didn't play.  Not that JJ is a "great" defender, but I'm counting on him to not allow Gotat to embarrass our front court or our home court tonight.  And, I am confident we can do better than 13 bench points.

     

    Revenge is a dish best served cold.  So if you're going to the game, bring your Blazer stocking caps and parkas Blazer fans.  My forcast calls or a blizzard that will put out the Suns.

    I think getting Gortat in foul trouble early might be a good thing. Also shutting down Morris, ( I think that's his name?) He hurt us last time we played. Damian needs to have a higher scoring game as well. Any word on whether or not LaMarcus will be playing?

    Regarding whether we could wiht without aldridge...I think ANY team, who can not win when just one player is out, whether it be their all-star or someone off the bench, is not much of a team.  If we can not win without aldridge,  (although I admit I like when he is in the lineup), then we dont' deserve to win

    huge win tonight lillard and hickson both had monster games and aldridge looked pretty good too batum though couldn't hold on to the ball but other then that he did alright having an all around game

    This was a big win putting us over 500 and taking over down the stretch. I like Stotts rotations. Victor showed a lot of promise in this game. How many teams even prepare to play Victor Claver in a game? I like Stotts creatilvity with his rotations as the bench starts to flow. Damian was my pic to clic and I haven't won one of those in awhile! Feels great!

    one game isn't enough to say he's better especially when dragic already outplayed lillard earlier in the season just saying so if lillard got outplayed by brandon knight earlier this season would you say he was better then lillard too? and would you say lillard is better then tony parker cause he outplayed him in one game?

    Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
