Looking at next season it might be better if Portland saves some of their cap space this summer.

    Potential Max Contracts
    C Dwight Howard
    C Andrew Bynum
    PF Blake Griffin
    PF Josh Smith
    SG James Harden
    SG Manu Ginobili
    PG Chris Paul
    PG Stephen Curry
PG Jrue Holiday serious doubt it but that is what he expects.

I would certainly go after Josh Smith and James Harden next year especially if we do not resign Batum this year.

Blake Griffin is going to sign a long term contract extension and depending what we do this off season, I would rather look to the draft then sign any of the non-centers. The centers (Bynum and Howard) are worth max money and they will both get it.

Most of the guys on your list are also going to get max contracts because of the current system even if they are not worth that much, (due to the RFA rules) teams run up RFA's knowing teams will try to match for quality, fan favorite players. I think these rules need to be changed, if a player will not sign a reasonable extension with their present team by the free agency opening date then the team should not be allowed to match, this will end the super mark-up on middle of the road talent that I think is ruining the NBA. Fans are tired of seeing a 7 foot guy making more then most doctors just because they can get 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks a game.

I would give Harden and Paul both max deals those two as the foundation of a franchise would be a hell of a start. I also agree both Centers are worth max deals. Griffin is also worth a deal just in merchandise sales alone.

A Steph Curry/Damian Lillard backcourt would be fun to watch! Not so much on the defensive end, but those two could fill it up from downtown.

It would be entertaining but I do not see it winning a title especially as bad as Curry's ankle has looked.

Portland should be considering Harden big time as he would change this franchise.

Lets be honest people, most of the people on the list will be picked up by their team other then maybe James Harden because they already have so many people to sign.

It is certainly likely Schwabbii but because they will be available it would be nice to at least dream about them for now

Can we clear enough cap space to offer Harden a max deal?

If we sign Hibbert and resign Batum then I would say no.

My thoughts exactly I just wish I knew what kind of shot we had at getting Harden because it would certainly change my thoughts on FA

Alot of teams are faced with tough decisions. I like it like that. It levels the playing field. Too many chiefs running the show for my tastes anyway. I wont lie and say that im not as anxious as most Blazer fans, waiting to see how this all shakes out. I just hope that the end result is the cohesion and competitive spirit of a squad that is Rip City. Cats who want to be here, and play here and represent.

I do see Josh Smith and Harden available on that list so they could be worth a go at

Nah uhhh a defensive center, a backup big either position I don''t care, an experienced wing, without having to give up any draft picks. I''d probably do this but I just don''t know for sure.

I completely agree he could be that voice on the court we need. Lamarcus just isn''t that guy and Damian can learn some on court leadership from him. A small lineup when we need a score bad of Dame, Wes, Paul, Nic, and Lamarcus would be potent.
