The man is a stud. Anyone who thinks that he could single handedly carry this current roster on his back, even in a shortened season, is a frie short of a happy meal. Oh, he doesnt do this, or bang in the middle, or post up enough. The man has been taking bolos to the chin all season because no one else held their chin up to take one but him. Draft guts, draft heart, draft will, determinating, a winning mentality. We had a three piece spicy with a biscuit. Roy,L.A., Oden, and the biscuit Batum. Is it L.A.'s fault that Roy had to retire ? Is it his fault that Batum's name in french means perhaps. Is it his fault that Oden...... LaMarcus was guilty of drifting out to the perimeter because when he did go into the post, our guys couldnt knock down shots. You get me two guys, a sg, and a sf, who can consistently knock down shots and i'll show you an L.A. that will be unstoppable. He beats his man down the floor,he establishes himself, and he cant even afford to play a two man game with anyone because they have been pathetic from the perimeter. We need a pg, plain and simple. Kendall ? By todays pg standards is a snail. I say keep our pics. Get the best big man available at 6.Drummond available, great. If not, Leonard. By the way, ive heard talk of Chris Cayman. Least we forget that it was Olshey that moved him and Eric Gordon. They may still have rocks in their jaw about that.  If Lillard is available at 11, snatch him. If not, get the next best thing from a little school with a chip on his shoulder. Then, reach out to orlando Johnson. he's got a Bruce Bowen type of story that tells me this kid is going to be special. Dump the Rhino and get Ivan Johnson from Atlanta. Move Joel freeland into Pryzbillas guest house and let him just absorb.

lamarcus just needs to keep working and play HIS game. it's the responsibility of the front office to surround him with players that compliment his strengths. i think that's what people dont get. portland fans haven't seen that in a long time. the heat are going to the finals without a decent point guard because they dont NEED to. they've built their team to play off of lebron & wade. bosh is a great third option. and people hate the heat because the players did it themselves? come on now.

People who dont eat regularly love burned biscuits. Hell, they love soggy biscuits. As long as they eat. Only teams win. An individual has never won as a member of a team. He may get an accolade, an MVP award, an honorable mention even, but "he" does nothing alone as part of a team. Jamal & Raymond are cancers because they subscribe to " ME " magazine.  Good riddance. Teams win . Individuals like  McGrady,Vince Carter,Dwight Prima Howard,Malone and countless others , while deserving of jewelry, are team players. Not really. If they were, they wouldnt be on  the list now would they. Let me put it this way,  fist, wouldnt even be a word unless fingers were part of the equation.

That might be true, but LaMarcus also wants to win, and he knows that nobody will make the mid-range jumper if he doesn't. The All-Star position was big not only for his career but for his play-style as well. Did anyone else notice how much opposing defenses swarmed him after the All-Star break? All of his work on the inside game was almost negated by constant double teams. So he stepped back out and started hitting jumpers again. Actually, his game is A LOT like Chris Bosh's. I'm not saying he needs to be the third option, but it would be nice if he had two other options to go to so that every team in the league didn't know that, once LaMarcus is out of the picture, Portland loses. So, in short, he does play his game; he scores and defends (and I'm sure the training staff will tell you he works on other areas too), but until the front office puts a respectable team together he will always be trying to fill every niche on the court. And he won't be able to be as effective as he could with a Lebron and D-Wade on the same roster.

LA played well this year sure but his rebounding went backwards and so did his ability to get to the free throw line. With the pieces he had around him LA needed to be more aggressive and he was not. His free throws attempts should have went up from 5.5 in 10-11 not down the 5.0 he posted this season. He should have also crashed the boards harder especially after we got rid of Camby and needed extra rebounding badly. Yet, once again his numbers went down not up from 8.7 in 10-11 to 8.0 this season. We have no more Roy or Oden, which means LA is the only franchise player we got left. Because of that he needs to better than he has ever been for this team and he was not as good this season as he was last season so yes he deserves some criticism.

He is a great player who could bring in a lot of pieces to a team that has only 2 proven NBA players in their prime signed for next season. Not at least listening to offers for him would be irresponsible.

im not knocking la's game by any means. i was just using miami as an example of how a front office can build around a players' strengths. the blazers desperately need this. watching the ecf had me going crazy just seeing rondo's game. for blazer fans who dont watch other teams it can be easy to underestimate dominant guard play. i mean damn if only rondo could shoot he'd be unstoppable. if they get a pg that can take some of the pressure to score from la he can concentrate on other things like rebounding and defense. i agree that he's trying to do it all himself, its pretty easy to see. i really hope olshey knows what he's doing and while im not entirely confident im optimistic.

I think Olshey is going to bring the same thing here as he did for the Clips. If he can build a squad like they had and make it to the second round, we can easily get to the WCF's with a well put together squad. Timing and a little bit of luck.

Unholy, that makes a lot more sense. I thought you were saying LaMarcus should just stay in the post and let his teammates drown. That's not in his DNA. But I ABSOLUTELY agree: he needs to be able to focus on his own game and being the best he can be. So it really is up to Olshey and the front office to surround him with players that allow him to do that. It probably won't be next season or the season after, but I have confidence we will end up with a contending team of all-star caliber.

Every great team (with the exception of Miami) has had a solid PG and Center. They dont need to be superstars but they need to set up plays/be a threat on the perimeter and help in the post with rebounding and defense. With those two positions addressed maybe we can see LA at his full potential.

Lakers were a great team with a lousy PG. Having a good PG certainly makes things easier on you. I think having someone like Lillard who can break down the defense would really help. It would also help to have a Center who can score making it much harder to double LA in the post.
