Batum Not Doing Blazers Any Favors, Will Sign First Lucrative Offer Sheet - via CSNNW
The first good offer we get, we're going with that,” Bouna Ndiaye of Comsport Management told CSNNW.com. “We're not waiting for anything.”
The Trail Blazers had hoped they would be able to spend their $15-20 million in cap space to sign at least two key free agents first. Being that the Trail Blazers own Batum's Bird rights, they could go over the cap to sign him.

Well, that really doesn't help one bit. I'm surprised to hear this as I thought Batum valued role over money and to just sign the first big deal he gets, regardless of team or situation seems very short-sighted. He'll get paid either way, as Portland can go over the cap to sign him so I'm not sure why he or his agent feel like they need to sign right away. If they sign a $10-11 million a year deal on the first day of free agency, it could really back the Blazers into a corner.

Actually this might be a blessing in disguise. Will the real Nicolos Batum please stand up! (goes invisible as he starts to stand). Move JJ to the 3 spot?

Yeah, move JJ to 3. Goodbye and good luck to Batum and his idiot agent.

I have heard that the Spurs and Celtics are ?  What is he worth on the open market?  What could the Celtics or Spurs offer him?  What is he worth to the blazers?

The Spurs would have to basically sign Tim Duncan to a very minuscule deal along with using the Amnesty Clause on Stephen Jackson and not re-sign any of their other free agents which include role players Danny Green and Gary Neal. With a team that already has their small forward of the future in Kawhi Leonard, doing all of that for Batum doesn't seem very Spurs-esque to me.

It does not appear that the Spurs would be a front runner for Batum.  The Celtics seem to be a much better prospect.  There might be another team that would be interested that we do not know about at this time.

Would it be possible for the Blazers to match an offer for Batum and then trade him for a first round pick in the draft?  not sure how the timing works.  there may be some possibilities here.  Maybe even trading Batum plus our #11 to get higher in the draft.  Thoughts?

Batum shows flashes of brilliance, but unfortunately those flashes don't seem to last very long.  And yes he goes regularly to France to play ball and have fun, but nobody ever talks about his work ethic in the gym, so he doesn't appear to be getting any better.  That said, why do we keep him.  Let's give JJ a chance to start.  He may not have the 3 point threat that Batum sometimes has, but he is always there for the rebounds.  We should be able to find a more reliable shooting guard that can light up the 3's or just keep Babbit.

If he will require that kind of money (10-11 million) then let someone have him, or sign and trade him for? Then go after Illasova (scorer and rebounder)

We cannot do anything with Batum until July, But we could match any offer then trade him for a player and a first rounder in 2013 to a bottom feeder team like (Toronto, Detroit, New Jersey)
