During Monday night's Trail Blazers Courtisde, the Portland Tribune's Kerry Eggers brought up the fact that Monty Williams would be a good candidate for the vacant Trail Blazers head coaching job. And, as Antonio Harvey mentioned, Williams has the ability to opt out of his contract this year. New Orleans is under new ownership and the new owners don't know Monty and Monty doesn't know them. So if the fit isn't right there, it could be here.

But would he be good fit? We all know how great of a player development coach he is and he knows the city, the culture, and the way things around run around here. He also comes from Nate McMillan's school of coaching. He's a grind-it-out, defensive minded coach who teeters on the conservative side. According to Basketball Reference, his team's in New Orleans ranked 29th and 30th the past two seasons in pace -- one of those years Chris Paul was the floor general. I do think he gets the most out of his players and his team fights hard for him as evidenced by New Orleans 8-6 record in the month of April, even after being eliminated from postseason contention weeks prior.

I would vote yes 100% for Monty. Not only was he a good assistant here in Portland but look what he has done in OKC.

I love Monty but, he's Nate 2.0 we need something new the moves we made at the trade deadline says it time to move forward so let move forward there are other coaches we can look at.

I agree that Monty possess a lot of Nate's qualities, but if not Monty, then who?

The real question is would Monty want to coach the Blazers ? And theres every possibility that SVG could become available as soon as the next 24hrs after his comment last night.

Right now, the most realistic is Asik. If Houston pursue D12, sign and trade JJ and a couple second round picks, maybe Joel Freeland or somebody for Asik.

Nah, Washington would just sign him themselves, save them a pick. Also, no way JJ is worth a lottery pick. Oladipo would be great, for pretty much any team in the NBA. I don''t think it''s possible to get him though. Should focus on getting a defe...

Jermaine O''Neal, Drazen, Z-Bo, Sheed (I know he was already a star but still). Also Drazen was buried under Drexler and Porter.

What happens if we don''t win? Dwight will start his nonsense, we would be out a lot of money, and with no real talent to show for it. San Antonio and Memphis is proof that you don''t need superstars to win.

Special K, aren''t you a cereal? And yes, Batum is expensive, but I think he''s worth it. Why would you take someone who isn''t is as good, just for less money. Then why don''t we take the worst possible player and pay him the least possible amoun...
