Phoenix Suns broadcaster Jon Bloom tweets that Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford expressed interest in the Suns to broadcaster Eddie Johnson and coach Alvin Gentry during Monday night's game.
    -------------------------------------
Jamal Crawford just told EJ on press row and Alvin Gentry on the sidelines that he "needs to be here in Phoenix" w/ Blazer teammates nearby
    -------------------------------------

Last night, Crawford participated in a lengthy back-and-forth with fans on Twitter, and wrote: "I like Portland, will see what happens" and "Does it look like I checked out? No I'm a pro."

If I was an aging shooter like Jamal I would love to be on the Suns. Fast pace, lots of shots and the best training staff in the world to keep you healthy for years to come. The dude is still putting out good effort for us and has the option to do what he wants in a few weeks let him talk.

So glad someone brought this up. I can't wait until Jamal Crawful has played his last minutes as a Trail Blazer. Talk about a player who mailed it in. All he does is dribble, dribble dribble, stop, hoist of contested jumper, and then flop to the floor in hopes of drawing the foul. What a disaster this experiment was. I just pray he opts out of his deal!

Agreed and thought you might like this:  Get Rid of this TIRD!!

Jamal Crawford offers his services to the Phoenix Suns — in Phoenix — while still playing for Portland

When the Portland Trail Blazers signed Jamal Crawford in the offseason, it seemed like a sound (if temporary) alignment. The Blazers badly needed backcourt scoring help with former All-Star Brandon Roy retiring, Crawford didn't find many takers on the open market and Jamal's Pacific Northwest roots (he's from Seattle) would seem to aid in the arrangement.

Unfortunately, things haven't gone as smoothly in the months since. The Blazers blew things up in March, trading players and firing former Seattle SuperSonics player and coach Nate McMillan. Crawford's overall production is just about in line with his career numbers, but he's shooting just 38 percent from the floor, and as a 31-year-old journeyman, his talents aren't as needed on a rebuilding team as they were on last December's playoff hopeful. Also, not sure if you know this, but Portland ain't Seattle.

Phoenix might be an alternative, though. The Suns will have free-agent money to spend this summer, they've long employed a wide-open style of play, and they have a training staff that tends to turn mere mortals into the frickin' Highlander, maaan. And Crawford, even in front of his current Portland teammates, didn't mind letting his potential Phoenix coach and future Suns teammates know that he can be had once July hits. And he doesn't mind telling the Suns this in Phoenix, during an actual game.

Dwyer: Jamal Crawford Not Likely To Do Better Than Player Option

Kelly Dwyer of Ball Don't Lie writes that Portland Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford might have trouble finding a better offer than his $5.2 million player option for 2012-2013.
    -------------------------------
Crawford has a player option with the Blazers next season at over $5.2 million, and though he can still help a team even in his early 30s, he'd probably be giving up quite a bit of money if he declines it. Teams are just about growing wise to his game (dribble, dribble, dribble; long jumper) and they probably think their resources are better served elsewhere. In this climate, it's hard to see an NBA team eclipsing $5.2 million with an opening offer to Jamal Crawford.

Crawford is one of the best in the league at drawing contact and his ft% in the best in the league this year. He has never been much to look at on the defensive side of the ball but if we can convince him to stop taking fade away jumpers and instead draw contact he would be a major asset for this team.

I just am not sure we have anyone in the organization capable of helping Jamal stop taking so many off balance low percentage shots where he fades away from contact.

Well... all the fans and media in Portland have been doing is harping on how terrible the guy is, even though he's a good basketball player. He's just too much of a special-need/situation player to address Portland's needs. And there was so much pressure to fill Brandon's role, that he never had a chance. The Suns, who are expecting to lose their best player and any hopes at playoff contention, provide a perfect non-pressure situation for a player like Jamal, who just wants to jack up 3's like the rest of the Suns.

So, I agree but I disagree. I don't really want Jamal to come back, but, if you expected him to do anything other than what he did here, you probably didn't really know who Jamal Crawford was before the signing.

I must admit, when I first heard that JCrossover was coming to Portland, I was excited because he was a bigger name then I expected to come to the team. Watching him playing this year has shown me though that we need someone who is a consistent shooter and also someone that is willing to dish the ball when he is having an off game. Crawford is none of those things. When he's hot he's hot. When he's not then he just shoots some more. I hope has fun on the Suns cause he honestly would fit perfectly with their style of play.

Rip a cap hold is a number given to free agents. Basically the cap hold is added to the teams salaries at the start of free agency. So for example a team has 10 million in cap space but has 15 million in cap holds they are technically over the sal...

You could trade the pick for someone like Sanders or someone young and a little more developed and hope Noel does not surpass them.

Noel was playing at around 220 so I doubt the added weight will slow him down too much the guy just needs to continue his rehab and hit the weight room and he will be fine.

As long as he stops pulling the ball down in the post I will be happy nothing more annoying than watching that happen several times a game
