Was this the game that breaks LA out of his post-All-Star game funk?

No - Let's wait and see how he produces the rest of the road trip (2)

Trail Blazers (19-21) At Wizards (9-29)

Since the All-Star Break, the Trail Blazers are a woeful 1-5 with the one win being against the Hornets. Up next on this daunting road trip are the Wizards, a team that doesn't boast the most impressive record (9-29) or an intimidating home atmosphere (6-15 at the Verizon Center). But they are coming off of a come-from-behind victory over the Lakers on Wednesday, 106-101 and have won two in a row at home when you throw in their win over the Cavaliers one week ago, a win that looks that much more impressive considering Cleveland just snapped Oklahoma City's 14-game home winning streak on Friday, 96-90. And Los Angeles was the only Western Conference heavyweight to fall in DC, as the Wizards dropped the Thunder, 105-102, back on January.

If that's not enough to get the attention of the Trail Blazers, the 124-109 loss suffered on Valentine's Day should still be fresh on the minds of the players. During that game, LaMarcus Aldridge went down with an ankle sprain within the first few minutes of the game and didn't return and neither did the Trail Blazers, who seemingly fell flat at the site of their All-Star lying in pain on the hardwood. This time around Portland will have their All-Star in uniform but they will still need to solve Washington's backcourt duo of John Wall and Nick Young who simply went off in the Rose City, combining for 64 points , on 22-31 shooting from the floor including 8 of 9 from downtown and 12-13 from the charity stripe, 9 assists and 6 rebounds. Those two got confidence early on and never let up, pulling the trigger without hesitation. If the Blazers want to keep them quiet, they must deny the ball or challenge every shot. Just one open look and the flood gates could open.

I keep harping on effort in these game threads and it seems like only half the team is listening. While I was watching the fourth quarter of the Boston game, I was really excited. Why you ask? Because I loved the fight that Matthews, Babbitt, Rhino, Nolan, and CJ showed out on the floor. It felt like every Babbitt three would drop, every attempt by the opponent would get swatted away from Chris and that every loose ball was Wesley's. That group may not be the most talented but it was damn fun watching them out there. I even threw up a poll in the game chat to see if the fans wouldn't mind seeing those five start the night out against the Wizards. The result was down the middle. And if the usual starters get off to another shaky start, I'd like to see the that bunch get the early call from Coach Nate and see if they can recreate the results they had the night before as they outscored Boston 32-16 over the course of the final 12 minutes.

Even though the Blazers have lost a couple more games then usual lately, still don't change the fact that the WIZARDS LOGO IS JUST STRAIGHT UGLY. Seriously now, that thing looks like Harry Potter drew it blindfolded in his 1st grade art class or something.

i agree with your 4th quarter excitement .it was a welcome sight to see them get some minutes and i think its time to start playing some of these  guys that never get minutes . i say let the 2nd  and 3rd string guys play the first 1/2 . they haven't been scouted so they could really surprise the other team. how much worse could they do ? then at least if we are behind at the half  our starters would be fresh for the  2nd 1/2  and maybe they could then close the game out right . i really think in this season with no practice time we have nothing to loose and maybe everything to gain by trying something like this. the only way we are going to get better is by using our bench . the only way our bench will get better is to get more meaningful playing time. who knows we might find more talent and chemistry their than we thought possible.

    Post-Game Quotes:
Nate McMillan on the win after last night's loss-

“We know we didn’t play well last night. Our challenge was to just come out here and get better. I thought our guys tonight did that and we were solid on both ends of the floor. We pretty much had control throughout the game and got a key win for our team tonight.”
McMillan on the play of Felton and Crawford-
“They played very well tonight. That’s part of what I’ve been saying, normally one of those guys are playing well. Tonight we were fortunate enough for both Jamal Crawford and Raymond Felton to have really good games on both side of the ball. Felton struggled early offensively, but he was able to feed off of Crawford’s energy and get his hand going offensively as well.”
    Jamal Crawford on the win-
“This was a much needed win for us tonight. Whenever you lose the way we lost you have to come back strong in your next outing. We were blessed to have this opportunity to come back the next night and get a win. Usually after a game like last night we would have to sit two or three games, but the way the schedule is this season we were able to have a short memory.”
    Ray Felton on the win-
“Especially after that loss last night, it was good to bounce back against a team that beat us at home. They are a young team but we know they can really put up points and win big games. They beat the Lakers the other night here at home, came back and won after being down 20. We knew we definitely couldn’t take this team lightly... We played together, we defended, and we were aggressive so it was good win for us.”

Glad we got the win, but I think this 2 day break is even better. Blazers fans had a rough time last week.

Any win on the road in this trip will be a good one. Its nice to see a little change by Nate the last couple games and go deeper into the bench, which is harder for the other team to set-up a planned defense. Playing the same old isolation is not only Portlands nemesis, but easy to scout and defend. We need the young player to get more playing time so if there is an injury, it would not be something to totally elimiate the team from any chance at a playoff spot.

It was a fun game to watch. I know we've been having trouble lately winning games so winning any game is importaant. Like my softball coach says: You can't start a winning streak until you win the first game.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
