Yes you take the shot.  It's for the fans.  If it goes, great.  If not, oh well, you tried for the fans.

What impressed me more about Batum tonight was not his stats (he's done significantly better recently) but his attitude. He seemed way too docile again last night, and after seeing a few games where I was finally starting to believe he had some aggression and attitude, I was starting to worry that the contract extension drama was getting to him. But tonight we saw that attitude come back a little bit and in short minutes.

And as far as the Chalupa Ethis go, you couldn't be more right. There was absolutely no reason to hold the ball for possession at the end. And after watching Cha-Luke-a Babbit nail the 3 last night to get us into triple digits, I don't think any player out there should be afraid of taking their turn. If it goes in, the fans love you. If it misses, then it misses and you tried. But if you don't even try... don't expect the RG to show much love.

He is a great player. That's why I'm a big fan of him as he has a good attitude. If we re-look at the game last night, we can see that several times he asked for the ball and nobody gave him yet he still show a great attitude by supporting his teammate. He is not selfish and not self-centered. He is a great guy. I do hope that the Blazers would realize that and extend his contract as soon as possible.

I agree with Blazer247! Batum's attitude is remarkable on the court! The man just had a crazy few days with a possible contract extension in mind and his mother and sister being refused by customs the night before! Now I know he's a professional athlete and he shouldn't let that get to his head while playing bla bla bla... The truth is all that would get to anyone's head and it seemed to preoccupy him against SAC, but yesterday he came out much more aggressive (at his standards) and played some good unselfish ball as he always does!

Oh and please shoot the chalupa ball guys!

I agree with Sealer that it seems like some of the other guys are not giving Batum enough respect on the floor... I do feel like I see Nic in position, fairly open, and ready for a play consistently, but then getting ignored.

Part of it is probably that he hasn't always had the most aggressive attitude, and that's something you need in order to be a focus in the NBA (more so than in Europe from what I've seen). And while I'm liking the flashes we're seeing of the new and improved Batum, he needs to show consistency to make that jump. It's really a catch-22 i guess, since he needs to show consistency to get there but can't show consistency without being given the ball more from his teammates (read as "getting there").

I'm sure part of it right now is also the situation with his mother and sister, as well as the contract extension drama (whether they get it done or not, remember he can still be a Blazer next year!). If we want to keep him comfortable here in Portland, maybe fans should be sending him some support... twitter anyone?

he's a great 6th man and has been a more consistant 6th man than even crawford thus far, plus his defense is better, no disrespect, i love crawford, hope he retires here, but batum is great, and young. hope we keep him.

and i agree, im sure Eliot was pressured by the coaching staff not to take the shot, but come on coaches, it's chalupas, they already lost, and it's a game, it isn't disrespectful to pop 1 more jumper for the fans.

The problem with JJ remains the same at the 4 or 5 he is just not a good enough defender. Milsap and especially Smith are good defenders. The also both offer more on the offensive side than JJ does.

Howard would be fine if he was the same player he was in Orlando, but his back has really slowed him down and he is no longer the most dominant center in the league. His offense was always trying to dunk on people and getting fouled he has not imp...

Exactamundo. Seriously though, both of you''ll are right. The blame should be placed on the attacker, not Lillard. That being said, Dame should have stepped in.

I completely agree. Pierce would bring a culture change. And we as a team really needed someone to help our young players through the tough times. Jeffires and Pavlovic were veterans who didn''t see much court time and from what I saw didn''t real...

Joakim Noah has had his injury troubles. His crazy game and high energy make him a constant injury threat. What separates him from Oden and Rose (I had to just mention him) is his willingness to play the way he loves.
