Miller for Harris?  I would take it.  Millers one of my favorite Blazers, but I'm a fan that can let go for the team progressing.  Harris is good and young.

However, no way is Melo going to New Jersey, so... doubt this would actually happen.

Harris' contract is pretty reasonable with only 2 years remaining after this one. And no disrespect to Andre but we've got to be adding in more if it's for Harris, based on the age gap alone. I find Harris and Dre equally talented players with the advantage going to Harris due to his age, but I wouldn't give up much more than Andre for Devin. Maybe we can ask for Travis back? Wishful thinking..I know

hes saying that it wouldnt be a straight swap of andre for harris.. we would have to throw in something else because harris is younger. but everyone wants batum, and were not giving him up. thats the key to this one that makes me think it wont happen.

I like Harris and think he's better than Andre but I think that if Melo gets traded it will be to the knicks so us getting Harris is pretty unlikely.

i think this trade is too played out.
like they tried to get this done a month or two ago, and everyone kept thinking about what THEY thought the consequences would be OR how much disappointing it would bring for all parties, and it just fell through, is this coming back up?

Miller for harris, i think is great,, i mean miller doesnt want to win anymore, "by the way he carries himself as a basketball player" or whatever he had said in that interview, he is just helping slow this team down, even though he likes to run, haha. but really, i think it would be a steal, a 34 year old for a young hot shot who at most needs a year or two to evolve into a player that understands this blazer team, and who can help them win.
Id love to see harris with roy.

This trade would be decent if Brandon were to return to his old self... but we don't know if that's the case yet. And I think trading away the iron man of the NBA from the most injury prone team the last two years isn't the best idea either.

espn's trade machine says this would not affect our win projection. this is yet another rumor of a trade just to be making a trade, rather than a trade which actually makes sense.

I don't think it's just a trade to make a trade.  According to Roy, our franchise player who I can guarantee we're keeping, Andre has been a problem to him.  And I can see that.  Roy last year gave doubts to some fans that he'd make the ASG.  He has been struggling since Andre has arrived.

The thing is, even though health has been a huge issue, our team was best in 2008-2009, and we had a good chance of advancing far into the playoffs.  We got cheated in the first round.  Feel free to disagree, but the fouls in game 4 and 5 were very one sided, and we lost those games by a total of about 3 points while having nearly 75 more fouls called against us.  In game 4, our two centers had 10 fouls.  Yao had 1.  Anyways... we got cheated, and by the way the Lakers performed against the Rockets, we could have beat them too.  Could we have beat Denver?  Maybe.  At that time, neither team could win on the away court, and I believe Denver was 2nd seed at the time.  I think we had better chances at winning away than Denver did.  (healthy) Portland 2009 vs Orlando 2009?  Portland wins that 7 times out of 10.  We could have had a championship.  Big flaws in my theory, I know, but point is, we were best in 2008-2009, and there was a big drop off.

I'm a huge Dre fan, and I heavily respect him and what he's done for this team, but even though Roy has a huge burden of injury, he performed well in Phoenix, and showed us that he can still be a great scorer and high performer.  I believe in Roy, and I doubt he'll be traded.  I don't want him to be traded, and he shouldn't be.  Like it or not, he can still return to that ASG performance.  Has he hit his prime yet?  My thoughts are NO.

So, Roy is our franchise player.  If he needs someone to run HIS team, I say do it.  Also, Dre is 34 and Harris is 27.   Some even say Harris has yet to hit his prime.  Harris is a good scorer, a good play maker, and almost has the same stats as Andre.

It would be a trade to make a trade stat wise, but I think Harris has the overall better fit for Portland in his game than Andre.  Obviously, Dre isn't working out too well if our Franchise player (and thus, our Franchise) is on the downhill.

I'd say let Roy have a voice in this trade if it were to be made.

Steven: this is absolutely a rumor started by someone who wants the team to make any move just to make a move. if you look at Harris' per 48 in points and assists, he is below Andre. if we're going to make a stop-gap move, then it should be at a position where we actually need some help (center or pf), not at a position with a strong and sturdy veteran, and an exciting second year man who has brought improvement to the second unit. keep in mind, the supposed rift between Brandon and Andre may not be nearly what people are thinking. personally, i'm not inclined to believe rumors brought by unnamed sources; if there's something substantial to it, let yourself be quoted. in the absolute least, it has been blown completely out of proportion.

Tom: the per 48 indicator which the trade machine employs is one of the top statistics general managers and other powers that be use when evaluating players. think about this: if Wesley's per 48 were not so appealing, we might not have gone after him in the off-season.

I agree, I think the rift between Brandon and Dre has been blown up because Brandon is playing injured and I'm sure he's frustrated and just blurted things out.
I think the per48 in the trade machine is fine it's just that you need to factor in things that it doesn't consider, i.e. Andre Miller never missing a game for years, compared to Harris missing games frequently. But mostly what I don't like is fans (obviously not you) who put a trade through the trade machine and therefore if the trade machine allowed it so will reality.!!! ha ha

i personally dont like being last in the NBA in pace, when we miss our shots the pace of the game is very much against us, then we try and move quicker to score more effectively to combat bad shooting. we then lose our defense and turn into a team with no identity on either end of the floor, this has been the cause of a few of our scoring droughts. i think devin harris would be a great upgrade, he can get us into our sets quicker, and get our pace up, i dont think that our team is a last place pace team, i think nate is a slow pace coach.

I say we find a way to try and give up expiring contracts and bring switch the homebodies of Kevin Love and Joel. Don't get me wrong, I love the thrilla, but using him as an undersized center on the offensive end would be nice. What I don't understand is this idea that you have to stick to the conventional in basketball (i.e. the center on the offensive side needs to guard the center on defense too). Why not switch off each play? Now, I know it would take more than Joel to get K. Love. We'd also have to take on some garbage to make the salaries work, but couldn't we agree that at 6-23, or whatever their record is, Kevin Love isn't going to help them win games. His numbers, atleast in some categories, would also decline drastically in Portland, but his rebounding would be useful for a team that likes to shoot as many jumpers as Portland does. The Wolves need leadership, they need more talent in their backcourt. A guy like Miller could help their offense and a guy like Joel would help stabalize their interior defense.

          PG-Devin Harris
          SG-Brandon Roy
          SF-Wesley Matthews
          PF-LaMarcus Aldridge

minnesota is not going to trade away Love. there are probably fans from a lot of teams saying the same things, but think of it this way: if Love was a blazer, would you trade him away? i wouldn't. it's great go way "we should get this guy" or "we should go after that guy." however, just because we may want that player doesn't mean the other team is willing to part with him. the other thing you need to consider about potentially trading with minnesota is that they don't trust us when it comes to trading players. they already think we sent them "damaged goods" when we traded Martell to them. it would not surprise me in the least if minnesota's gm here's that portland is on line one, and all but ignores the phone call. we also need to understand that for every reason we may want to trade away a player, that's as many reasons why another team would not want that player on their roster.

also, i'm not sure how 7'0" and 250 pounds makes Joel "undersized." not sure about that one because it just really doesn't make any sense.

as i've been saying, let's look at the big picture here, rather than a quick fix.

Well when you have KAHNNNN in the front office you never know what could happin in MIN.

I would do a straight up swap maybe putting Batum in if we could snag Outlaw back. I also think if we did put batum in we could maybe sneek in a big (Kris Humphries) he's not great but its some size.

If this was in a MELO trade we would have to send a guy like AJ or some 2nd round picks for harris.

Dre for Harris is a good trade.  Mainly because of the age difference.  One can make an argument that Andre is outplaying Harris this year.  Andre has an Eff rating of 17.0 to Harris' 16.8.  But again Harris is 7 years younger so make the trade.

I honestly think, before we make trades, we need to replace our coach.  Who knows if Nate will stick with us?  We don't want to make trades that fit our system/coach and then have Nate leave and we get a coach that knows nothing of defense.

I say we have Brian Grant or Clyde Drexler as our coach!

Btw, not that it matters much, but it's Stephen, not Steven.  It is pronounced as Steven, but spelt Stephen.  I just say that because I get called Stefan all the time or have people spell it as Steven when I say my name.  It's reasonable, but WRONG!  lol.

Haha, the Nuggets want Batum? Only if we're getting Brook Lopez back in the swap. But neither is going to happen. Harris for Miller is a good deal but I wouldn't give up anything else. I'd rather get a young point guard through the draft but it looks like Kyrie Irving aka next Chris Paul could miss the season with a toe injury and stay for his Soph. season.

I wasn't suggesting Joel is undersized,i was saying if we were to get Love, he would be undersized. I know it isn't probable; however, Love is also not the type of player they are able to build around. Minnesota has no other viable chips and if they could get two decent players for him they may actually win a few games. If they couldn't make it work with Jefferson and Love, they aren't getting anything in the draft to solidify them. You know me better than that Kassandra, come-on.

There is a reason why Coach K chose Nate to assist with the USA team people. There is also a reason why every USA player has glowed in regards to Coach Nate. Given what the players he's had to work with and integrate in and out of the system, changes he's had to make constantly mid-season, I think he's done a darn good job. Yes, when Brandon is healthy, the team always seems to go into the "iso" offense. If we'd had Oden, or even Joel healthy, it wouldn't be as terrible of an offense, but the reality is, we haven't had enough of a stable low-post presence to pick up offensive rebounds. Combine that with LA's former love-affair with his outside jumper and it just wasn't an affective system. Now that LA is playing in the post, the inside out offense would play to B-Roy's former strengths; however, now the offense needs to change again because it isn't looking like Roy will ever be what he once was. He is Grant Hill, Tracy MacGrady, a terriffic player that will have some amazing nights scattered amongst a litter of good supporting role performances. Guess what, that means Nate will have to go back to the drawing board. There has been so much change between player movement, player injuries, coaching staff, and Blazers management, that of course he is going to struggle in coaching, but stop throwing the guy under the bus until we actually know what he has to work with. Stop getting high on the players that look great right now, but would fall apart under any other system (Dante Cunningham, Patrick Mills, possibly even Rudy). Let's see if any real movement is in store, then see how the season ends. I hope they can sign Nate to an extension, but we may loose him to the Bobcats in which case I hope TP is the next in line. He did a great job with Milwaukie and he was thrown into a fire in Phoenix where Nash (the team captain) didn't want to put in the defensive effort that Porter required.

Nice to see ya back RCR. I agree with all your points about Nate. I don't think he's the best offensive coach but I always don't think he's the worst.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
