It took a lot more words than expected to breakdown the schedule, so i decided to blog about it.

Here is a snippet of the post-

Now that the 2010-11 Trail Blazers schedule has been released, it’s time to break down the games by month, the highlights of the season, the road trips, the home stands, and see where the opportunities for potential winning streaks lie.

October/November: The NBA once again shows a lot of respect for the Trail Blazers, giving them another home opener, this time on Tip-Off Tuesday, the first day of the regular season against 2010 playoff opponent, the Phoenix Suns. Portland then hits the road for four games, which include being the opponent for the Clippers and Knicks home openers. It should be noted that the four-game road trip is the longest the Blazers will venture away from the friendly confines of the Rose Garden, amazing considering the seven and eight-game roadies the team has journeyed on in years past. Of the 17 games played in October/November, the Trail Blazers play 10 times on the road but only 8 of the first 17 are against 2010 playoff opponents. Early season highlights include two early games against Oklahoma City, a Sunday affair in Staples against the Lakers, and a sweet three-game home-stand against Denver, Utah, and New Orleans.

December: Similar to the 2009 schedule where 16 of the first 24 games were played on the road, of the 16 played in December of 2010 the Trail Blazers hit the road hard for 9 of the month’s contest, putting them away from home 19 times in the first 33 games. It will be a difficult test for a team trying to make up for lost time in the chemistry department after missing a combined 311 games the previous year. Highlights of December include a four-game stretch starting on the 7th with another home date against the Suns, followed with Dwight Howard and the Magic at home, then games at Phoenix and San Antonio. December could be a difficult month with road games at perennial ‘House of Horror’ venues such as Dallas, San Antonio, Golden State, Boston, Phoenix, Denver, and Utah.
     Top 10 Home Games:

    #1) Lakers, 4/8/11
If all goes according to plan, this game late in the season could be for the top seed out West. Laker games are already a hot commodity, but the RG will be rocking if playoff implications are involved.

    #2) Suns, 10/26/10
Opening night. Playoff revenge. Nothing more needs to be said.

    #3) Thunder, 11/4/10
Oden vs. Durant for the first time all season. It’ time to show the rest of the NBA that the Blazers are still the best young team on the rise.

    #4) Lakers, 2/23/11
We like playing the Lakers here in Portland. The last time they played here left a sour taste in the mouth of Rip Ciy. It’s time to start another streak of dominance against the purple and gold in the Rose Garden.

    #5) Heat, 1/9/11
The Big 3 come to town. The game would be higher on the list, except I don’t enjoy watching LeBron play for one reason or another. Needless to say, the Garden will have playoff intensity to it, out to prove the Trail Blazers believe among the NBA’s elite.

What do you guys think of the schedule? I think we got off pretty easily with no road trips longer than 4 games, and only going to LAC and Houston once is another blessing. What are your most anticipated home games? I already can't wait for 10/26/2010 to open up the 2011 campaign with a W over the Phoenix Suns!

There just isn't an easy win on the schedule anymore out West sans the Wolves. We are a great team, but I'd be surprised if any team gets over 60 wins with ease. After going over and over the schedule, I would be happy with 53-55 wins. It just seems like so many teams got better and the teams who got a little less intimidating (Den, Utah, PHX) are still just as capable of beating us as they were last year.

Rumors have shown that the Rockets are very interested in Dwight Howard and that the interest is mutual.

    I''d trade for Asik.

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.

  8. Is Paul Allen more Concerned about Profits then Winning a Championship?

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
