Blake, A Point Of No Return?

This article mentions the Heat and Magic as being interested in the expiring of Blake as well as the Knicks. I'd love to get Bass from Orlando, since he doesn't play there anyways and I would absolutely be open to the idea of taking on more salary and going after David Lee!

Nice find and a good read. I like the point that he is a Nate/KP guy no question, and Blake knows how to run Nate's offense better than any PG on the team. He's a stand up guy and a warrior but he won't lead us to a championship. I think Bass would be a big help for our front court and would get a lot more minutes then hes getting now.  Not sure how Lee would fix into our slow-paced offense and LMA center skills aren't the best.

Lee would definitely move to Center as that is what he plays in New York.
Blake, as good of a guy he is, is a decent bench player at best. If he is not hitting from the perimeter, he brings nothing else to the table. I really wouldn't mind him if we had JUST Andre or JUST Bayless, but we have both and both deserve minutes of Steve as they have earned the playing time by their performances on the court.

Lee is good enough in my opinion that, IF my main man Greg was healthy, could warrant putting Aldridge on the market to help us upgrade either at the SF or PG position.

    I mean:
    Oden
    Lee
    Batum
    Roy
    Miller

    Bench

    Bayless
    Webster
    Outlaw
    Przybilla
    Cunningham

And that isn't even counting the player we'd get in return for LMA!

Sorry for the rant, I am just a huge Lee fan and love his hustle/tenacity.

Trading of Blake for a piece that can help us this is year is a good move.  If we are in discussions with Orlando I would much rather go after Gortat than Bass.

Aldridge and Roy just resigned its clear there not going anywhere. If we let Aldridge go there would be anarchy in PDX. I say Webster. We should explore what a draft pick, Webster, and someone else can get us. I say keep Blake because who knows how much longer Miller will be with us, and Blake is consistent.

Either way I am a firm believer that Roy, Aldridge and Batum are staying no matter what and I am 100% fine with that. Oden has one more chance with me. He seems like a great guy, but I hope this isnt the Michael Jordan scenario all over again. Took Oden over Durant and look how Durant is doing now....I dont even want to think of how the sports world would look at us if Durant wins 6 championships and turns a team into a dynasty.

Blake is a strong leader and I feel he runs the team great. I think he should stay. Bayless is questionable he brings high energy.
I am a fan of feeling like martell is playing due to family ties with the coaches son :-)

Finally, someone who makes sense around here. I couldn't have said it better myself. The rap on Blake is he can't lead us to a championship. Well, if you look at this team you'll see the Blazers aren't going anywhere as far as a championship goes, this year. They don't have enough inside presence since losing Greg and Joel. Sure, they could deal Rudy, Webster, Bayless, or even Blake, but really, you won't get squat for these players. You just can't bring in guys and make a impact anyway, it takes time. The Blazers aren't willing to trade the top notch players, only the supporting cast. These are the players you'll get back in return, supporting cast players. If I were Mac I'd start playing Pendergraph more. If he could give the team 10 rebounds a night we might regain control of the boards again. Howard and LA must pick it up as well. This is whats missing since Joel and Oden went down.

I also agree that if and when Oden returns, it should be his last chance. Forget about him coming back this year. The team is 2 years behind now that Oden is hurt again. Why risk injury bringing him back too early?

If we could get a decent big man for Rudy, Webster, or Bayless I'd be all for it. We need the reboounding, shot blocking, and screen setting that was lost when Joel and Oden went down. Getting another backup point guard is no answer for this team.

Anyone hear how Joel is doing?  And speaking of Joel, why can't the Blazer coaches develop a shot for a 7 footer like Joel? A ten foot sky-hook, or post-up shot. I don't believe a guy this tall can't shoot. He should be able to shoot over many players and yet he never takes a shot, they don't even have one shot for him. That is stupid. You have a 7 foot center that never takes a shot. Do the coaches let him practice a shot, do they work on a shot for him in practice? It makes no sense to me. The rap on Joel is no offense, well it's kind of hard to score if you never shoot the ball. Tip in's are all Joel gets, and put backs.
