I've heard that KP is on the phone talking with EVERYONE, but I have a feeling that a lot of teams don't want to do business with us at all and are loving the fact we are having a setback season.
I think we will see something small done once Nic and Rudy return. We just have too many guards and need a decent 7'fter if we really want to achieve our goal of making the playoffs.

I am just not sure..logic says we need a deal due to the plethora of point guards we have, but will we have any takers? Also, KP is not known to make a move mid-way through the season..something has got to give.

No need to worry and no need for trades, we are winning games and our youngsters are getting valuable time and experience on the floor !  Hopefully when Rudy and Batum return they will bring the same intensity they have witnessed from behind the bench.   Yes we have a lot of guards but a good rotation of fresh legs is a plus in this league.

    Go Blazers !!

This shortened Blazer roster is playing great. But some wonder how long the icepacks and energy drinks can stay working? Perhaps it has more to do with our players personalities, these guys are all tough warriors. They're playing good, scrappy, team basketball, and fightin' real hard to win games. These guys have nobody left to guard their back, requiring the team to always push forward, focusing on the challenges strictly in front of 'em.

I'd be lying if i said this team doesn't need a big man in the middle for boards and defensive presence. Trading 1s for 5s don't happen too offen in the league but its the only position we have healthy bodies at right now. Looking towards the future, i'm not sure how running a smaller line-up will affect roles and overall floor chemistry when Joel and Greg get healthy next season. Just something to think about.

Tonight's game was a clear example of why we need to make a move for a big man. Not a great big man, but just someone with some height. We have expiring contracts, overseas talent, future draft picks, and young talent, we should be able to lure somewhat of a decent big man. You know the Pacers are dangling Jeff Foster out there as bait, and he would not cost an arm and a leg.
I don't think we should take on a long contract, but if we don't get LMA, Jeff, Dante, and Juwan some help, they may take too much of a beating this year which could hinder our future hopes.

Foster puts up Joel-type numbers, and is a good size (6'11). I see nothing wrong trying to get him, I just don't want the Pacers to get too much from us.

Career averages of 5 pts and 7 rebs is considered "decent". We aren't trying to lure Dwight Howard here now. We don't need a long-term solution, rather a stop-gap center to help us make it through the season.
Also, you have to take into consideration, you have to give up assets to acquire some. Foster wouldn't probably cost us more than Steve Blake (expiring) and 800K filler would get the job done.

Jason Quick mentioned that the Wizards would be the most likely trading partner. Anyone want any of their pieces? I used to want Caron Butler, but I don't think he'd fit in and with Jerryd's emergence as a scorer, we need exactly what we have at the 3 in Batum.
I really want Twan Jamison though. He's a vet who's been there and done that. Good for 17 a night, good on the glass, and a consistent scoring option.
The question becomes, what would we have to give up to acquire him?

Looking at the Wizards team, were gonna probably have to give up quite a bit for Jameson. Heywood could be a option but i'm not familiar with his contract numbers. Not sure how Jameson's contract looks either cause thats a pretty big factor for us in a trade we really don't need anyone long term (at the moment) but we do need a big body ASAP.

I have also heard that both teams are valuing their players much differently.
According to HoopsHype, Jamison has 2 more years left after this season and Haywood is expiring.
Personally, I still want Gerald Wallace, but Jamison would be nice. I wouldn't offer up Outlaw, Batum, or Bayless though. We have the power here. We are not the team that needs to blow it up like the Wizards.
I would think of something like Blake (expiring) + JP + rights to Freeland/Koponen/Future 1st would be enough for Haywood.

I would be willing to give them pretty much anyone but Oden (value is so low, might as well keep him to see if he pans out), Roy, Aldridge, Bayless, Batum, and Outlaw.

I made this trade work on ESPN's trade machine.

    Rudy, Blake, Martell, Przybilla
    For
    Wallace, Diop

Outside of Stephen Jackson, Wallace and Diop are their worst contracts, each with 3 years left (including this season). Blake gives them some relief with his expiring deal, Rudy is the centerpiece as they have never had a legit starting shooting guard in their franchise and gives them someone to rebuild around, because, well they aren't going anywhere anytime soon, Martell is in there for cap purposes, and Joel can opt out this year so there's more relief for the Bobcats.

Wallace can play the 3 or the 4. I really didn't want to give up Marty the way he has been playing, but we would have Crash, Outlaw, and Batum, so that's plenty. It really pains me to deal Joel, but I think this last injury could really hinder his game and he may not be the shot blocker he once was...

    Updated Depth Chart
    PG- Miller, Bayless, Mills
    SG- Roy, Bayless
    SF- Wallace, Batum, Cunningham
    PF- Aldridge, Outlaw, Howard
    C- Oden, Pendergraph, Diop

I love the 3 guard rotation and our defense just becomes amazing with the addition of Wallace.

    What do you think?

That's quite a bit of salary to take on, but you know what, you have to give up something to get something. In the end, PDX would be getting, by far, the best player in the deal and someone who could groom Batum into an even nastier(in a good way) defender than he already is.
If Oden were to go down again, we'd be very thin up front, but we do need a consolidation trade and LMA could play center, Wallace the power forward, and Batum at the 3 in stretches. Diop is definitely overpaid, but a big body none the less, and there is always the mid level exception where we could get a decent center.

That's a pretty nice depth chart, I would love to have Wallace on our team a legit double-double guy who will crash the boards. I think out of the big 3 (Roy,LA,Oden) everyone is tradable for the right deal. I'm not a big Travis fan, but I don't know how much we can get for him. With all the talent KP has collected since he's been here we can surely trade for the pieces we want/need.

Please, do not sleep on Brendan Haywood. He is averaging 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks a night.
Not to mention he is a legit 7 footer, something we do not have currently healthy on this roster. Compare the numbers to Przybilla. Before he got hurt, Joel was getting 4 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 block a night. I'm a huge Joel fan, but Haywood's numbers are nice and he is on the last year of his deal so he wouldn't mess up future plans.

To be honest, Blake, JP + another asset is not a good enough package to entice the Wizards. With the addition of Bayless breaking out, Miller playing at an All-Star level, and Mills waiting in the wings, it makes Blake expendable. Like everyone else, I am a huge JP guy as well, but where do his minutes come from when Travis comes back? We'd still have DC, Howard, LMA, and Haywood. Also, Freeland is still waiting in the wings as well. In this league, you have to give up talent to get talent and after seeing the Cavs game, I really want a 7 ft center again :D

I guess cause he was out pretty much all of last season with injury i'm a bit skeptical on him. I will give him credit he's having a great season so far. I would go Blake+DC+and someone else, the Rudy, Nic, second round is too much. I think we keep JP seeing he's the total opposite of LMA so if we need low-post presence (with Greg/Joel) we have that option to bang on the boards. We shall see tomorrow morning how Haywood performs.

The only reason I wouldn't want to deal Dante is because his basketball IQ is through the roof. He knows how to find the open spots on offense for the catch and shoot and he plays excellent off ball defense. He reminds me of a Joe Smith type forward. I really love how JP has taken on Joel's attitude of never backing down, but if we got Haywood, I think having Pendergraph may be a little redundant, esp with Greg still around.

Let's say the Wiz compromise and would do Rudy and Blake for Brendan, would you pull that trigger considering how well Marty has been playing, or do you hold onto Rudy to see if something better comes along, or is Rudy an untouchable?

I think if your last name isn't Roy/Oden/Aldridge your tradeable. Thats a trade I would look hard at cause thats very possible, and do-able for me as much as I love both Blakey and Rudy. KP said he's not gonna morgage the future for this season, nor is he gonna push the panic button so we'll see what he does.

I would love Bosh, but 1) Wonder what Toronto wants for him (obviously Aldridge ++) and 2) would he re-sign with us (We could offer him the most money).
Amare is a big no-no for me. He is just starting to flat out not care about anything but scoring. He gives up on defense and doesn't have the type of attitude we need, kind of like Zach on defense before he turned it around in Memphis.
Outside of Bosh, I'd want Randolph on that list. His potential is through the roof and would love to see him playing along side Batum with that athleticism.

The dang Bobcats are actually ballin out right now and are in the thick of things to make one of the final seeds in the East, which could kill any motivation to obtain Wallace.
