I'm wondering why there are so many guards invited to camp and so few bigs? I don't think Damian will play much in summer league.

Rudy Gobert looked really good for Utah.  Kid can block shots like crazy, just needs to add weight.  Would have been a better draft had Portland been able to get that pick which Utah got with fodder.

    Bad start...

Mcollum showed he can score, good handles and speed.

Freeland, Robinson and Leonard, showed some effort rebounding, making shots harde, but they need to keep working. (I didnt like the referees calling foul on minimal contact...) They should get more touches...

Barton made me remember him in the start off last season, and that´s not good... when he was runnig offense we just played alone, forgetting he had teammates most of the times. he just tried to score...

Crabbe as the bigs, didnt get much touches, and had to play the 3 most of the time because of claver´s injurie, and i think it wasnt good for him.

I really liked Terrel Harris, he was very active on defense, getting some steals, a block, and lots off annoying pressure on the opposite guards. I would give him more time in the next game, instead of barton...

Agree with Nuno's take on it. Ugly game for the most part. Disappointed to see Leonard not get a double double on this level of competition and Barton seemed completely off his game as did Crabbe. This group of young guys did not shoot the 3 ball very well. CJ, TRob, Freeland and Harris all looked pretty good. Victor wasn't in long enough to tell. Hope the next game is a better effort.

That June workout that Barton, Freeland, Victor, and Meyers did. Didn't seem to really help to put Will's game together much, same ol' from him.  I hope he can learn a little more to play team ball and then and only then is he going to be an asset to this team. IMO

Yeah I got ot watch the first 3 quarters it was disappointing.

I know it has been only 3 months since he last played but Meyers looked pretty bad. He is more confident. He tried to push some guys around, he yelled at Barton to pass him the ball AND even got a TECH! That was kinda cool lol.. But his skills just is not there. He looked lost out there and its only Summer League. I saw him jump on 3-4 different pump fakes on 1 defensive possession!!!!! His rebounding didn't look great either, he did grab 9 but they were all pretty easy boards. Someone with his body or any of these other young centers could hace EASILY got 13-14 boards that game. He does not back his man down when in the post. He stands outside the whole time on offense but he couldn't hit a jumper. If your'e gonna be a jump shooting big man you HAVE to hit your jumpers. Byron Mullens anyone?

Its only one game so I don't want to be too down on him but he after a whole season he looked raw-er than ever.

Barton was forcing it the WHOLE game. He held the ball too long then drove in and missed a contested lay up too many times. Crabbe forced it too when he got the ball, but no where near to the degree of Barton.

Freeland looked ok, he hit his shots .... CJ MCCOLLUM will be good!! He played great but Phoenix's D was focused on him and attacked him. Thomas Robinson looked awesome at the beginning of the game. He will eb good!

Im sure this will be everyone's worst game of Summer League. Everyone will improve from this game

Leonard doesnt look like he has learned a damned thing. There was one shot he took that compelled me to shout expletives at my tv. He should have dominated that game. If he had any notion of starting over Lopez he better shake that thought. As much as it pains me, he wont be ready to start for at least two more years...if he's lucky.

CJ looked like a man among boys until the second half when they started locking him up.

Will is still out of his young mind. No Stotts out their to reel him back in during timeouts.

T-Rob was ok. I expected to see more of his beast qualities.

    Allen Crabbe was visibly nervous.

Hopefully tonight everyone is a little more relaxed and can find their groove.

    Overall, i give the team a  C-.

I would have given them a D, but that would have implied that there was actually D being played.

This tells me that we should waive the pg that came with Lopez and get another big to back up Robin. Leonard should be out third string center. Who else is available at the pivot that we can get on the cheap ?

Nic can play some 2 and folks, I know it's ugly out there in summer league, McCollum will play some 2, Dame will play some 2, I want these guys to make mistakes now and address them before the regular season. I mean, the D league is undefeated in summer league now. High draft picks are underperforming. At least McCollum is looking solid and Robinson is showing he can rebound when he wants to. I never take summer league too seriously. Meyers is not impressing me either.

Calling it.  With Claver and Barton injured there is not a snowballs chance in Vegas.  Claver and Barton looked like they might be improved, but I feel like CJ is out there by himself now.

So far, I'd say we could have kept Eric Maynor and skipped the draft and trades entirely and been in no worse condition.  Losing Maynor and getting CJ basically cancelled out.

Good lord, I just had a horrifying thought.  What if our bench is worse this year than last?

I´m not liking the way Leonard and Barton played in the first 2 games... Barton excesssive energy, the opposite of Leonard, looks like a kid running around...

Freeland and Robinson looked very good when compared to them.

Mcollum is doing a nice job also, but will need to work on the Playmaking...

Crabbe was still nervous... but got a couple shots.

Would be nice to see Claver on the floor on the next game...

One thin i´m just hating, the other teams get all the minimal contacts to get called, and get tons of FT´s and we get a couple when we are lucky... and our off ball defense letting the opp team get tons off 3´s....

Agree with most of the comments but after these first two games, the 3pt shot is horribly off across the board. I don't know what the percentage was but it's really bad. There were some positives from TRob, McCollum and Freeland but I'd have benched Meyers after that early 3pt miss...first half he didn't even seem to be interested in rebounding. McCollum, Barton, Crabbe and Thomas all outrebounded the 7ft Leonard....not a good sign there.

Meyers had 13 fouls in 2 games, dude still has not learned to play defense. CJ has looked pretty good but has not passed the ball much. Then again considering how bad the team has looked I would not pass either. If this continues though look for the Blazers to be major sellers at the deadline.

I agree w/ most of the comments above.  Definitely thought we'd perform better (not knocking @ all Cj though; he's actually doing better than I thought he'd do) but even as ugly as the games have been, I'm not worried, it's summer league.

I'm very encouraged w/ what I've seen from T-Rob & Joel.  T-Rob's mistakes that I've seen r easily correctable 1's; a lot of them have to do w/ being overly aggressive (i.e. grabbing a rebound too hard & popping it out of his own hands or trying to dunk it too hard & it bounces out, etc.); he won't b perfect by the end of summer league & of course he'll have plenty to learn during the reg. season but he will b fine ;)  U can tell Joel is becoming more comfortable w/ the NBA game i.e. he is trying to block shots much more vertically now.

I like T. Harris, he's a smart player & does the little things but has it in him to make a big defensive play.  If we can keep him AND bring in either Camby or Wright, we'd b set :)

Wooh that was a super fun game!

Thomas Robinson played like a beast!! 12pts 18 Rebounds! He played with CRAZY Passion, heart, and HUSTLE!!! Love this guy -my second fave player on the team!! BEAST! Had some great DISHES to Leonard but Meyers can't catch a ball to save his life..

Victor Claver is awesome!! MIght be my third favorite Player!! HIGH IQ except for the last play of the game haha! Him and Thomas Robinson formed a great connection, I LOVED watching them hit each other! Had some great/smart passes, and rebounded nicely. 10pts 11reb 4ast 2 steals

Joel Freeland was pretty good 8pts 6 boards 4-4 shooting

CJ McCollum was having a rough time shooting but he played with GREAT Hustle and was cold blooded with the game-tying 3. The 4th quarter and OT he was a BEAST!! 27pts 6rebs

Meyers was typical Meyers :/ He did have the game winning 3 though!! Just didn't count.......

    Awesome game though!

Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Meyers have great hands last year? He couldn't catch anything this match. And why so many frickin floaters? I love the guy, want him to stay, but leave the jumper. And yeah, impressed with Claver, got upset at the last play. He should be aware of the clock. T Rob was insane.

i knew victor was going to be good last year he has all the physical tools just has to get his shot down but T-Rob 18 rebounds was great but he also had a 6-7 180 pound SG/SF trying to box him out was a mismatch and was easy for him to over power his man

Great comments every1! :)  T-Rob baby!  I've been a fan of Claver; I can't believe some ppl were ALREADY going to give up on him; Claver is excellent size @ his position, good motor, & most important of all, he's a smart player :)  Cj didn't have a good % from the floor 2night BUT this guy IS a baller & got to the line.  You can tell, Cj IS a great shooter from all over the floor; no worries peeps, Cj's gonna knock down PLENTY of shots CONSISTENTLY as a Blazer & some of those... r gonna b HUGE 1's! :)  I love the swag & look on his face when he knocked down that triple to send it to OT; I'm gonna start calling him, Cj McSCOWL'em!  Hahahah!  Awesome!

Joel is solidifying more & more that he's OUR guy that we need him to b:  Nick Collison 2.0!  :)

Crabbe, I like him, he made some good decision & plays but u can c he needs experience & polish; a few stints w/ the D-League will b necessary for him; the trips will help him immensely but I think we got a good 1 in him :)

@ BLASER, don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Cj & I AM pullin' for him but w/ the way OUR team is & the NBA competition etc., I c Cj averaging ~11pts per game & 13pts a game max (@ 13 a game, I would consider this a VERY successful rookie campaign); after his rookie season, he'll start to become pretty efficient w/ scoring & eventually, he'll b an assassin from anywhere on the floor (averaging ~17pts a game :)

ps @ BLASER, Bayless IS a scorer & the reason he looked/was awesome in SL was bc of competition level; Bayless was predictable but the scrubs of SL could do anything about it even IF they knew what he was going to do, in the reg. season, guys ARE good enough to take u out of what u want to when they know what u r trying to do.  Bayless has learned to b less predictable & learned how to adapt his game to the NBA much better these days ;)  Cj differs from Bayless in their styles of play; many of the things Cj does/knows ARE translatable to the reg. season v. Bayless relying much more heavily on speed, athleticism, etc. which aren't as much when u come up against a guy(s) who's bigger/longer/stronger/faster/smarter/etc. than u.

I'd also point out that teams didn't make as many defensive adjustments when Bayless dominated because the W-L column meant literally nothing.

That said, I do think some of the things CJ has done have been because of the competition level at SL. He probably won't have a 27 point game in the regular season. Dame dominated SL last year, but looked even more polished than CJ does. That, to me, is one of the biggest differences between the two: CJ looks like a good rookie, while Dame looked like an experienced veteran.
