Here is some information that might make many of you reconsider your stance on trading for the #1 overall pick.

    1. Nelrens Noel's playing weight was around 220 lbs much higher than the 206 number he weighed in at the combine.

    2. Kevin Garnett weighed 212 pounds when he was drafted and he turned into one of the leagues best defenders and a DPOY.

    3. Tyson Chandler weighed in at 224 just a few pounds above Noel's playing weight and he has also become a great defender and a DPOY.

    4. Joakim Noah weighed in at 223 and is now considered one of the best defensive players in the NBA.

    5. Larry Sanders was 222 pounds and is now an elite shot blocker and defender.

If Portland is interested in Noel they need to make sure his knee is not misaligned from his high school injury. If the knee is misaligned it is likely he could re-injure the knee down the road otherwise a simple ACL tear on his light frame should heal up nicely. He did not tear the LCL, MCL or PCL, which is significant as most major knee injuries resulted in multiple tears.

Noel is probably never going to become a 20 point a night C or PF but he certainly should be able to post around 10 points, 10 boards and 2-3 blocks per game. Those are more than enough numbers if his defense comes anywhere close to the guys listed above him.

Yeah, once again, a shot blocker. Is he good defensively? I don't know. No one talks about it. Only that he blocks shots, AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL. Remember Jarvis Vernado and Shawn James? They were great shot blockers too. Noel might turn out to be solid. Might become an Oden. Not worth the risk. And I never heard of 'A simple ACL tear'.

I really don't care if Nerlens is the best shot blocker ever.  Two knee operations kicks him into the never never choice.  I also can't believe Portland has an interest in him.  Nerlens is going to slide in the draft.  I estimate he will get drafted about number 8.

The idea of a nasty shot blocker is nice, but he would be pointless if we had to trade Lamarcus Aldridge for him. The reason we need a defensive stud is because of Aldridge, Terry Stotts came to Portland because of Aldridges ability to shoot the jump shot (similar to Dirk). If we traded Aldridge i'm positive Stotts is gone. I don't see that happening because the offense was pretty good last year, it was also everyones first year in the offense, i can see it being better next year! But if we can get N.Noel for a package that doesn't include LA, Batum, Wesley, and Lillard then i say go for it.

I would do that ... I'd rather do Wes and 10 for top 3 get mclemore or olidipo ... If we had to give 2nd rounder(s) if we had to I think mclemore is gonna be a legit all star match him with lilliard and company wel be in the hunt

I also believe that Cleveland would consider that trade. Batum is major upgrade over Gee and he can play SG or SF meaning that signing Lebron is still an option in 2014. Even if Batum does not waive his trade kicker the Cavs would still have 30 million dollars to spend when Lebron becomes a free agent.

mclemore and lillard would  be a great young back court with room to grow but back to noel I'd take him if his knees check out we'd have to run extensive tests before waisting a pick on him though

Should run extensive tests on all picks considering our injury history

I did not realize your name was Cleo no one knows what will happen with him. No one thought Adrian Peterson would be great last year and he had one of the best years of all time. Griffin relies on his athleticism and he has been fine since his injury.

That's right Cmeese, and I can't believe it. I always say that high flying will eventually get you back if you don't have a solid game to rely on. Russell Westbrook might not do so well if he can't attack the rim like he's great at. He'll be forced to take jumpshots, and then even his drive and dish capabilities are taken out.

Good thing for Noel that no one wants him for his offense.

Doubt he'd be able to move quickly laterally to block shots, and he's always was too weak to defend NBA Big Men. Also people love his 'potential'.

The man only hurt one ligament in his knee and if his knee is properly aligned then there is no reason to suspect that he will lose his athleticism.

These are the same arguments I heard about Greg Oden's knees.  I still think it is too much of a risk.

Greg was also 10 times the player Noel can ever dream of. I am saying it outright, Nerlens Noel, BUST. He will be injured a decent amount of his career, and won't play like a number 1.
