Good with the bad, wins with the losses, ups with the downs, if you don't like the GM, roster, coach or owner it begs the question: why are you a Blazer fan? The Blazers are not a fantasy basketball team, they are a quality sports franchise. I just have the hardest time wondering why several regular visitors here are so down on the organization under the guise of being a "fan" To me the great thing about the Rose Garden is fans show up and cheer no matter what. They create a supportive environment for success and accept the losses without hurling blame at the organization. This season has been full of positives to take into next season and I can't wait for it to happen! Go Blazers!! If a team lost my respect, I'd find another one to cheer for. As it is, this is the team I choose to cheer for.

I root for the team every year, I may want them to change players, coaches, owners, gm's or whatever at a particular time but when the season starts I always want the best for the team.

I remember the first game I ever went to. They were the worst team in the league a few years back when Webster and Jack were rookies, they played the bucks and lost. one of the best nights of my life. I'll never forget my first game

Riverman, you have that lost treasure some of us call loyalty. Until this team turns their backs on me (not even sure how that could happen) I'll be sticking with them.

I'm with cmeese insofar as I don't share the sentiment that we should keep all the lovable end-of-the-bench guys that we tend to acquire (e.g., Nolan, Luke, Armon, CJ...). I'm more about seeing the team get better, and I'm not shy about sharing my opinions about who should be kicked to the curb. But that's because I know that a franchise isn't the specific players on the roster, it's the make-up of the team. I think most of Rip City would like to see talent AND character instead of compromising one for the other. I don't want Beasley or Bynum on the team, but I don't think we should have a team of Sebastian Telfairs either.

I think last year was a good example: a lot of us wanted to be rid of Felton and Crawford, but there were a lot of "fans" that either gave up on the team or hoped we would tank for draft position. Every night, I'm rooting for a Blazers W, whether or not I love every guy on the floor. Hopefully, the true fans will continue to be true fans, and all the others will pass through without being too annoying. ;)

I have no player loyalty my loyalty is to the team and if trading the entire roster gives me a better team than that is what I want to do. If tanking is the answer then I will suck up the embarrassment for that year and hold out hope that it was worth it. I do have ridiculously high expectations of the team and anyone who does not meet them or if the teams fails to meet them together I will demand change simple as that.

The only point I don't agree with you on is tanking. I lose respect for a team that tanks. Now, giving lots of minutes to developing players when the season gets away from you, that's different. When I hear "tank", I think throwing games and not playing to your full potential. That's going to do more damage to the competitive nature of your team than any lottery pick can fix.

I think everyone bring some nice points about this I see where Cmeese is coming from and I see where everyone else is coming from and the thing that common between us is that we want this team to succeed some fans idea of that are different than others, I like supporting a player that wants to be here and help this team win a championship but, if he's traded for someone who can get us to that next level and stay on that level I wouldn't be opposed to it because isn't that the major objective to any NBA franchise (some more than others) is to win a championship but, I also see the argument of having a team you can be proud of and that you don't want players how are quote bad influences it kind of funny though that those type of players are one of the main reason teams win championship you don't want a team full of thugs but, you gotta have some edge and toughness on your team this team needs to learn to take some risks and add that edge to this team because that what we really lacked this year. Loyalty is definitely something that's lost now a days and I really don't care if others are loyalty to this team (even though it's nice to see) or not because I can't control or force them to be loyal to this team the way I want them to be loyal all that matter is that I'm gonna stay loyal to this team and I'm gonna support the fans who are loyal to this team.

I want the BLazers to be great since I live in Portland.

I love players and I hate some players

    I LOVE THE BLAZERS

I spend too much time on forums and watching games, but thats because I love the NBA/Basketball/Blazers sooo much.

I can say I hate some players tho. Just because your a fan you dont have to LOVE every player or every move the organization makes.

I am not talking throwing games that is wrong but trading your starters for young talent and draft picks to completely rebuild is okay to me.

Yes Cmeese, but we JUST rebuilt. We need a bench and a centre. That's it. If we had a bench guy who could create his own offence and score well, and a good defensive centre who rebounds, would you still want to trade our starters?

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

We got Lillard out of that attempt if we get Wiggins to pair with him then we have our Durant and Westbrook for the next 10 years

We definitely could trade Nic, Wesley, Joel, Victor, Will, maybe even LaMarcus. I think you have a different definition of tanking. I've never called a rebuild "tanking." Either way, the Blazers are still going to be the Blazers. I guess that's exactly the point. We've been an organization since 1970, and we're obviously going to go through players. But RC14 has a point that we can't keep dumping assets every year and hope to be a contender.

I am a fan of the Blazers first and players second. I love this game. My wife loves this game as well. We have the same disagreements about whats best for this team as i have with some of you. We are always looking to get better. We want a Championship. Thats the goal. Thats the vision. This is my team. I am a Trail Blazers Fan. Ive been here for 25 years. From NYC originally. I like the Knicks, but i love the Blazers. I have to say though that i like the Knicks a little less because of Fatboy Felton. Hahahhahahaha.

As fans we all want our team to win,we get frustrated when they dont, but we stay with the team,I've been a fan of this team since 1988 when I was a little girl,I live in Los angeles, everyone around me is a Laker fan and the lakers are like everything down here,I worked a Jc penny selling lakers western conferance champions shirts the day after they beat us in the 2000 finals and had to hear these laker fans talk about how they KILLED us when they came from 14 behind. My best friend is a Laker fan. I simply miss the days then The blazers used to battle the lakers and it used to be a rivalry,I used to wear my little blazers shirt to school with pride after they went 63-19,or beat the lakers in the first round.I wore my pink blazer wristband to work, and I love being a blazer fan, but its frustrating to see the direction this team has gone in and as fans, myself and others have every right,to call out, critisize and get frustrated with whats going on,especially when we've fallen so far,we havent got out've the 2nd round in 13 years!! seriously.Teams like the Clippers,Golden State,Denver have all passed us up as western powers.I want my Blazers back. Is that a crime? Sometimes the moves we make are mindboggling and it can be frustrating. Im not some Mindless Homer who sits here and thinks everything the team does is great.Thats just a drone.

Well said Chloe I feel just because you don't like or agree with the moves the team makes doesn't mean your loyalty should be questioned as I said earlier and read what everyone said we may have different opinions about the moves the team makes but, the one common thing is that we are gonna be behind this team and we want this team to be a success for years to come and that's all that matters.

I appreciate all of the posts here. Balanced discussion and debate are healthy. I think the Blazers have the greatest fanbase in pro sports. My frustrations mainly lie with constant, overwhelmingly negative affirmations. I've never really understood what Homer meant or how local support was a character flaw but it sure gets used alot. I've done my share of criticising Noel Smith, Luke Babbit and last season, Raymond Felton. I"ve also criticised Kaleb Canales as the defensive coordinator all based on results from the job they were hired to do. There are fans who love Luke Babbit and have every reason to. That being said when someone dislikes the owner, coach, roster, gm across the board it begs the question, why are you a fan? Is it the logo?

A homer is and always has been a perjorative.  It's somebody who claims to be a fan but can't see the forest for the trees.  You may enjoy the personalities, pretend the players are your friends or that you know them in any way.  You don't though.  The Blazer organization is a group of professionals getting paid to win.  That's all.  The romanticized notions of fans, loving the organization etc. are really awfully dramatic don't you think?  How dare you question fan loyalty because most people don't walk around with rose tinted lenses like you?

If you care about the player's feelings more than you care about winning, you are basically the Ray Felton of the fanbase.  Just somebody along for the ride that doesn't want to get better.

I am a fan of winning

I don't know about all that uprised but liking the direction of a team and the management is hardly romantic oblivion or colored eye protection. I've yet to read a post here that states someone cares more about players feelings than winning. I have however read posts suggesting we tank next season to get a draft pick. Chloe, I really like the logo too!
