That´s a nice roster, but i dont like everything...

Allen would be a very good addition, but Gortat i dont see him as a rim protector or a strong defender, i would like to have him for sure because overall he would be a upgrade over Hickson, but only if we cant get anyone better...

Maynor, Mathews/Barton, Claver and Leonard/Freeland would be a nice backup unit...

I wouldnt resign E. Will, and Blair wouldnt be my first choice.... i would go for a different player, i would add 2  more experienced players a PG and a PF/C instead...

I would only use our draft picks this year if we get a player to enter the rotation, if we dont i prefer to get experienced players, because we have enough young player, needing playing time to develop and we cant give opportunities to everybody, look at Freeland for example, i assure you that if he had the playing time Leonard had, he would delivered much more...

One your assuming the Phoenix would even want JJ which is highly debatable and your offering a good lottery pick for 1 year of Marcin Gortat. That is not a good trade. Also Blair is not very good.

Blairs knees are shot and as meese said,no need in renting a player for a year as we essentially did with JJ. Tony Allen i like and Olshey knows him. DeAndre Jordan i like and Olshey knows him. Wesley i think is beeter suited coming off the bench with Maynor. That kid Clark who plays for the Lakers is worth a look. Also,if we look at Phoenix for anything it should be one of those Morris Twins. Particularly the one that gave us fits who played in Houston. My wishlist acquisition is Terrence Ross. Homegrown kids got bounce.

i say trade for deandre jordan, sign allen to 2 year and 5 million per year. waive freeland. draft dieng, kenny kadji. bang we are title contender, resign maynor

    lillard/maynor

    allen/wesley/barton

    batum/barton/claver

    aldridge/dieng/kadji

    jordan/leonard/dieng

this team is perfect epecially if dieng become ibaka at best, and if aldridge don't resign, we can have that dieng as a perfect replacement. this team would have allen as a perfect mentor to barton and lillard. this team would past the 1st round of playoff next year

that would be very nice, but what would you use to trade for DeAndre Jordan?

Wouldnt be the 10th pick, because you use it on Dieng i think, and you use another in Kadji... 2 2nd round picks wouldnt land Jordan here for ure....

And no need to get 2 more young bigs... we need to add experienced players, not another bunch of rookies...

This year if i want to sign any draft picks, mostly if it is a second rounder, i would look to guys like Copeland and Prigioni, players that played some(a lot) years in Europe, and can be imediatly useful role players, and woul be cheap.

also, jordan does not get the ball often on the clippers since the attention goes to griffin and paul. he be a perfect fit for us before his offense game is like hickson but his defense game is so good. he block 2 shot and 1 steal every night. he make oppents shot difficult, so he is a perfect fit for us. maybe ask him to cut his salary to 9 million so we can sign maynor back

Think Blazers will go with a offseason that doesnt turn us to a GREAT team.

We will probably have a off season that makes us a very good team.

Probably sign Dalembert, sign a bench guy (Henderson, Foye, Redick, then try to have a real good draft.

If we dont find another guy who has the potential to be a star or already isnt a young stud, we'll  settle for mediocrity for years (Never get past first/second round)

Unless Lillard/Batum/Leonard/Barton becomes a STAR/ shows HUGE improvement

DJ offensive game is nothing like JJ. It's like Tyson Chandler. He has made two jumpshots his entire career. And blocks are mostly help side defence. I like Henderson, and think Tony Allen would be good. I don't mind DJ, as defence is a team thing and he can become a better individual defender.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

If we could get Henderson, it would be great. He can score in bunches and is a tough guy who will offer some veteran savvy. He also works hard off the ball which will help take some heat off Lillard. Matthews is definitely the starting SG but we need some more offense at the position for when he goes to the bench...

Blair is past his best. We're better off going after another big to offer a post presence

Gortat couldn't put up decent numbers, and he was on a bad team that didn't have much to go to.

Tony Allen struggles shooting outside. He's got a very mechanical jump shot. This Blazers team lives on jumpers, I don't see how he could help us much.

We're gonna need more then that, but I don't see your lineup idea being too far off. Getting lucky in the draft is the route we're trying to go. This lineup probably would miss the playoffs, but maybe that's the idea.

We have 43,2M Guaranteed for next season, and assuming the cap limit will be around 60M, this is what i would try to do.

1st if we can i would use our 10th overall draft pick, 2nd rounders and K. Papanikolaou rights to trade for a starting Center, someone like D. Jordan/J. Mcgee/, if we cant, i would use around 10/11M to try to Sign Pekovic, Splitter or Jefferson.

That would cost maybe 10/11M, that´s the best we can spend if we want to fill the rest of the roster. And it would leave around 6,5M Iin cap to use

2nd: Sign Jarret Jack for 4/5M, he is experienced can play PG or  SG.

3rd With the remaining cap (1,5/2M), sign Gary Neal, a good 3pt shooter, that would be very useful.

4th With the room exception (2,5M) I would sign and experienced big, Elton Brand. (Theres is the possibility to sign someone better, but only if we waive/trade Freeland)

5th Since we wouldnt have cap to use, i would sign 2/3 players for the vet min.

    1. Lillard / (Jarret Jack) / vet min

    2. Matthews / (Gary Neal) / Barton

    3. Batum / Claver / vet min

    4. Aldridge / (Elton Brand) / Freeland

    5. Center / Leonard / vet min

I think this would give us a balanced team with players for every position, some young some experienced, with deph, and  would allow the younger players to have some minutes. With this we could at least reach the 1st round of playoffs...

Allen would help our second unit defensively. I've said on a few other threads that our young second unit wasn't exactly defensive minded and that led to them giving up far too many points while our starters got their rest on the bench. Allen would sure up the perimeter and could be assigned to guard the Kobe's and Hardens. 2 years back he did a great job of shutting down the spurs second unit whoever he landed up guarding.

His toughness and experience is worth gold, especially on our young team and he could tutor Barton and Lillard. Lillard will spend time with Gary Payton this summer but I think having Allen to tutor him on a continuous basis will only serve to improve his defense and make a more complete player in future.

Tony Allen is a perfect fit for any team. Why? He plays amazing defense, is a vocal leader and he attacks the rim.

DeAndre Jordan I do not understand everyone's love affair with this guy? He has zero offensive game outside of dunks with something like 2 career shots made beyond 10 feet. He is a fourth quarter liability because he is a 40% free throw shooter. He is a decent defender and rebounder but not great at either and he gets his blocks like LA does coming from weak side help not challenging anyone at the rim. This is the guy you want to pay 11 million a year to.

@ cmeese47, ur comments ^, I would agree w/ u completely this time.  All the reasons u listed above (ESPECIALLY late in games w/ the ft%; Mcgee is similar here too but @ least he IS A LEGIT shot blocker) is why his min. r limited.  I say no way to DeAndre; Mcgee makes more sense for us to grab (& for Den. to get rid of).

sign allen, cause he can start and can be a mentor to lillard and barton, like cmeese said. i rather have mcgee because he a shot blocker machine when he get mins. he can get 15point and 10 rebound every night with 3 block. so grab him. maybe trade 2 2nd round pick, freeland, and 1.5 million cash. resign maynor to a cheap contract. draft dieng as a back up pf to aldridge, and draft lebryan nash in 2nd round to provide depth in the sf. maybe sign a vet. min for patrick mills. i love him. he pass, and shoot beatiful 3 pointer. this team would be winning so many game next year. our record would flip flop from 33-49 to 49-33

HAHAHA, I thought you were trolling with that 'Lebryan Nash'. Googled him and he's real. Like I've said before, DJ only a shot blocker not a defender. And 40% from the stripe. Wes is shooting around the same from three. Problem is, what defensive centre is available to us?

We should give up our 10th pick-only if it helps us acquire one of these players.. Our needs

D.Jordan or Varejo Center needs met- should be able to retain their services for around 8 to 10 million a year/5yr contract- less then what we was going to give Hibbert or Gortat

Markieff Morris or Ed Davis  Power Forward needs met- Both average around 8 pts 4 rebounds around 15 minutes a gm  around 2 to 4 million a year/ 3 yr contract

sign C.Brewer or Budinger Small Forward needs met- to around 2 to 4 million a year/ 3 yr contract

    resign maynor 3 to 4 million/ 3 yr contract

    resign E.Will 2 to 4 million/ 3 yr contract

    2013-2014 Roster

    D.Lilliard, E.Maynor 2 rounder

    W.Matthew, C.J McCollum(will probably out play West in a year or 2 and start-Baller...:] and E.Will

    Batum,C.Brewer(defence,hustler,steals,scorer) or Budinger(same as Cory-plus 3's) and Claver

LMA,Ed Davis(Tarhell nuff said) or Markeiff(Jayhawk nuff said) and Freeland if he's not traded and maybe 2 rounder

    Varejo or D.Jordan and M.Leonard

That Tem would be Top 5 easily!!

Anything other than that we settling for mediocrity!!

Watching the playoffs I'm not that impressed with Jordan, terrible freethrow shooter and not really a paint stopper that we really need. The Clips can't play him in the 4th qtr which is really when you need stops. I tend to think he's overrated.

we just have to trade for mcgee, we need him and denver doesn't need him any more. why do you guy want e.will back, he is injure prone- if we want him back, sign him to 2 year and 500k per year not 1 million. i think that brewer would be a nice pick up. but we probably would have to go bidding war against denver, so budinger is stuck with us. i heard that tony allen want to come to portland because portland is where you just focus on your game. resign maynor may be a option, but sign him to 3 year and 2 million per year. sign budinger to 3 year and 3.5 million so t-wolves can get their butt off of us. trade 2 2nd round, freeland, and 1.5 million cash for mcgee. sign blair to a 2 year and 1 million per year deal. draft dieng, and trade claver, other 2nd round pick for OKC, 12th pick. and use that pick for withey. we be winning games next year. we would have a mix of vet and young player.

    lillard/maynor/

    wesely/allen/barton

    batum/budinger/barton

    aldridge/blair/dieng

    mcgee/leonard/withey

If we can trade the 10th to a team thats already a contender in the East then we could get a good defensive Centre. Look at the difference that Birdman made for the heat with his energy and defensive mindset.

Im guessing that the Bucks and Sixers will be willing to talk a trade. If we could get Varejoa though, we would immediately be a contender for a top 4 seed. The Clips greatest strength is their bench. Paul runs the show but the bench is the difference maker. If we get a defensive centre, we need a scorer off the bench...

Im still sticking to my guns and saying that we should try and get CJ McCollum. He played as a scorer in college and before the injury, he was shooting 50/50/84. Those are Reggie miller numbers right there. We could also still get Maynor back to be our second unit backcourt.

Deandre's offense isn't that bad I've seen games where his post game looks great but he rarely gets an opportunity in the CP3 offense. And I think Deandre might be a little easier to get. I feel that Javale is valued higher to the Nuggets than Deandre is for the Clipps.

Let's show Earl Clark (yes, I know he is/was a Laker ;) some love & pay him~$4-5million (he's earned it).  He came outta nowhere & played well for the Fakers (they're fools if they let him go but they will :)  He's a pf/sf that brings good sustained energy, plays GOOD D, BLOCKS shots, & he's a substantial upgrade over JJ Hickson (for those who r blinded by stats alone... ignore JJ's double-doubles because Clark's contributions will ACTUALLY translate into better individual AND TEAM D but most importantly... w's!) AND he can b the guy that fills in for Nico when he needs a break.

I like JJ as a person; also, he brought great energy & effort (except on the defensive end, though he did improve slightly as the season went on), OUR guys like him, & we knew from the get-go that he was undersized for playing the 5/was out of position (I VERY much appreciated/respect JJ. for manin' up in that regard all season long).  The reality is, it would only make sense to bring back JJ IF he accepted both ~$4million/yr. AND took a bench role but... JJ's (as we all know again) gonna cost ~$7million/yr. to bring back; sadly, this is way more than he's worth.  IF we're going to pay any pf even close to ~$7million/yr.... that guy should b Al Horford (he's 4 yr. $12million/yr., so we can take that $7million & add some cheddar/draft picks to make it happen; IDK if Atl would give him up but THIS is the guy I want on OUR team @ the pf/c positions that would shatter the needle! :)  Clark (he goes a long way in solving backup @ sf, replacement @ pf, & bench scoring & defense; the only thing Clark doesn't solve is c but that's not his fault, we can solve that w/ the flexiblity he brings w/ the $ situation) however, is more attainable v. Horford for many reasons; so if we're unable to get Horford, we should definitely go get Clark, re-sign Maynor, & use all leftover resources (which should actually b quite a bit; certainly enough to bring in a center that's not exactly All-World but is a good enough to defend/block shots well; remember, THIS IS what we need.  I don't want a crazy good/expensive center, unless it's Horford, bc I believe Meyers IS our c of the future) to get our c (THIS actually is on the same level of importance as re-signing Maynor ;)

ps the ONLY other crazy good centers that I would accept throwing BIG $ @ (or even packaging Meyers up w/ to get) would b Jokim Noah or Brook Lopez (w/ how things r w/ the Nets now... Russian guy probably won't give him up now ;)  I'd also b VERY happy 2 bring in Asik or Pekovic; should either (or any other c that's not 1 of the 3 ultra good c's) come to us, I'd still want to have Meyers w/ us.

Varejo is injury prone and not a good defender anymore. He can still rebound and has an improved offensive game but for the cost to acquire him and to pay him he is just not worth the effort. If your serious about making an impact find a way to move up and draft Nelrens Noel. He is a great shot blocker and will likely be the next Larry Sanders.

Yes he will miss most of next season potentially but he would certainly be a long term solution. In addition find a way to draft Dieng. The combination of Dieng and Noel would be very similar to the one Chicago had in Gibson and Asik, which was awesome.

What other long term solutions are there, without trading our core? We can try to strike gold with in the draft.

But grabbing Jordon, or Mcgee is probably the best option.

Getting Clark would actually really be great. He showed that he can do it in the Lakers spotlight and actually held his own. I think he needs a true centre to help him inside, but he bring great energy and a will to win. At 6'9 he can hold his own guarding both forward spots and his outside shot (although not great) will help spread the defense and could give LA an opportunity to change his offensive approach. He could play in the post when Clark is on the floor and could play his new role in the Stotts offense when Clark sits down...

LA is a 2 time all-star and he did it playing 2 different systems. That's the mark of a true champion and his ability to shoot jumpers and do damage from the post will be worth gold next season.

get neither jordan or mcgee, and draft both dieng and mccollum. trade 22nd round pick for thunder 12th pick, so we can draft dieng. sign tony allen to 4 year and 5 million per year. trade claver for SA 28th pick, use that pick to draft withey, we instantly become a contender. also sign matt barnes to 2 year and 2.5 million per year. resign maynor to 1 year deal, so that mccollum can develop into a back up pg. we become one of the toughest defense team, and the best offense. lillard will improve his defense with gary payton this summer.

    lillard/maynor/mccollum

    allen/wesley/barton

    batum/barnes/barton

    aldridge/dieng/barnes

Nerlens Noel is Greg Oden waiting to happen. Already got injured. I have a fear of any athletic big man messing up his knees, but even if you watch the way Noel plays, he likes to dunk a lot and lands kinda awkwardly some times. Disaster waiting to happen. On the flipside, I haven't seen a big man with his ball handling skills in a loooong time and he could be a franchise player. We will never get him though.

Earl Clark had like one good month and that's it. Too inconsistent.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

I like Noel and Dieng seems to have some potential getting two defenders would be awesome

Noel could be gotten I am just not sure what the price will be. Hopefully it would be based a deal around Batum but Aldridge is more likely. For that to work you would need to get additional pieces. If we could get #1, Tobias Harris, and Nikola Vucevic  for LA that would be a decent return. I do not really see much value for LA from the Bobcats unless we can get MKG, Noel via pick and the return of our pick is probably the best value we could get from them.

I am not one to even wanna talk about trading Lamarcus but meese, that might be one of the better ones I've seen (the Magic one). In that situation I'd seriously consider resigning JJ.

I'm a huge fan of Vucevic but not for LA..I'd give up the 10 pick Leonard and JJ for him and another player though.

Right on the money Riverman. Not LA. I don't know what is in the water in Orlando, but everyone who goes there, ends up getting twice as good. Mo Harkless, Vucevic, Tobias Harris. I love JJ, and am quite fond of Meyers, but Vucevic is LEGIT.

JJ has virtually no value in trades for us anymore we missed that window.

Also that trade also netted us a nice player in Tobias Harris, a young rebounding center and a quality replacement for LA in Noel.

Then again I am not sure Orlando would even consider that deal.

JJ has trade value in a sign and trade scenario. He would need to agree to it and he likes the east. At this point nobody knows who would agree to anything but my point is that it's something I'd like to see just like any other trade scenario people write about. Trading JJ is pretty much up to JJ agreeing on a situation that helps the Blazers and puts him in a position he likes. Seeing as how we helped JJ boost his value, I think it's entirely possible.

I just do not see it a team over the cap would need to send players back and teams with cap room can just sign him straight out. I doubt he would bring back a very good player in return we would probably be better off with the cap space.

Vucevic, Harris and the number 1 pick for Aldridge would be a monster deal! Way lobsided in our favor tho.

Tobais Harris and Vucevic are STUDS

What about Jermaine O'Neal? I think he would be a nice fit. People say he would be next year's Jeffries, but he was pretty solid with the Suns. Put up 8.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks in 18.7 minutes. That's great actually. And we know he is a good defender. He can also actually be a legit mentor for Meyers, who was a big fan of Jermaine growing up. He also said he would like to come here next year because he likes the town, and the fans and Paul Allen.

Jermaine is a nice third option but I would not expect a repeat of last years numbers

Why not? He's going to get treatment again, that worked great for him last time. He could be a decent second option defender.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
