I've been seeing a lot of posts for a while, and myself included, about player trading, player dissing, criticizing Stotts, critiqueing players' game, bench sucking, etc. And felt like getting us back into reality and out of dream land. Into 2013 and out of 2012.

Here's where we stand right now: - 7th seed in the West

    - The (arguably) best rookie who is stealing the ROY running,

    - 2 (wether or not you believe in them personally, they have enough people who believe this) Blazers who are potential, if not already, All Stars in Batum & LA (incl. Damian for future All Star, and although JJ & Matthews aren't as flashy, or statistically amazing, they deserve to be in that category as well)

    - One of the youngest teams in the entire league
    - A Five Man Wrecking Crew with our Starting Lineup, each of them leaders in their own way, each of them fighting, together, for a united goal. Can't say I've ever seen something as thrilling as that in a long time

Here's our outlook on the beginning of the season: - Lottery team
    - Davis for ROY
    - Batum needed to step up for his hefty contract

    - Damian had high expectations
    - LA, JJ, Wesley, all had to step up to help out Damian's transition & play different styles then they were previously used for
    - New Gm, New Coach. Both had to prove to this city that we could depend on them

I'd say where we are now, where we were, and where we are going, are all so impressive when you really take it all in. I don't think this could have gone any better. Don't take this for granted.

    Happy Belated 2013!!

My favorite Terry Stotts quote when he was hired, " I can say one thing. We'll be better in April than in November" As far as I can see we've exceeded expectations so far. Given the minutes our starters log and the fact that rookies are in the rotation, Stotts has accomplished a lot. I really appreciate Neil Olshey as well. We are 2 or 3 banch players away from being a deep playoff team and who knows? This team may actually surprise us yet.

yea I agree were a couple bench players away from being a strong team personally I was high on stotts before the season started his record didn't look that great but neither did the teams he coached for either and right now I think he's on point to have his first .500 or slightly above .500 year as a coach

the team is doing very well so far. the starting 5 is very good and is playing as it was expected or even better. the bench is still working to reach what they are needed to do...

1/3 of the team, are rookies(Lillard, Barton, Claver, Freeland and Leonard), so that they get in to the game, some experienced players (Pavlovic and Jeffries)arent really playing much...

If the coach mix them the right way in the rotations it could even get better, this thinking the roster stays like it is.

Nice to see Batum really stepping up as of late, shutting everyone up. The team just plays so smoothly. I feel we still need a 6th man. Someone who can come in and get some scoring going, because I feel like we get a little stagnant when we put our bench in and not know who's going to score, and that to me affects the momentum and gives the other team a chance to cut our lead or push to get their lead up.

Can Barton be the guy in a year or two? I actually believe so.

Agree if we had at least one guy that can come in and get buckets right whens hes in we would be a VERY good team right now..I believe Barton can be that guy also. But he will take some time

But this team is definitely exceeding expectaions right now.

Yepp, oh how it would be nice to have a guy like Reddik or Lou Williams. Although did you see Nolan light it up in D-League?? God it gives me headaches tryin to figure out if he's the real deal or a big bust

I didnt get to watch that game, im checking it our right now... wish there was some highlights some where LOL

Nolan just doesnt seem comfortable on the NBA court....cant dribble or pass.... Im checking the box score and the opposing Guards destroyed the Stampede, so I guess Nolan or maybe even Barton can handle some D League scrubs... but If Nolan can but up half of the numbers he put up in the D League I would be ecstatic

The thing about the D league is nobody plays defense and most guys there are not passing the ball. Every D league player wants a job and they shoot for stats or in some cases rebound but it's nothing like the NBA.

Nolan needs confidence, it's so obvious when you watch him that he doesn't seem like he CAN make the correct decisions @ a given time. Can that be taught? I'm not sure, but oing down to the D-League and doing this sureseems like advancement insome way.

& yeah the game was on NBA TV today I got to watch it a little, but it is no way really a NBA game. But at the same time, he was efficient, drove to the basket a lot. Against 3 of he top D-League guards who are probably going to be brought up to some team. It just goes to show that he CAN ball, when he believes he can.

Oh & just wanted to add something to the "Here's where we stand now" part:

Stotts is doing an amazing job right now, record aside, if you watch the games and the play calls, i's nuts. He works so well with the guys. I'm glad we got him, wouldn't pick another coach for this team right now.

Nice thread k.  The ONE thing that scares me, the ONE thing that can bring this house crashing to the ground, is an injury to a starter.  Most damaging to the current trajectory this team is moving in?  Hickson...followed closely by Dame and LA.  Why Hickson?  A healthy Hickson represents a starting center imo, healthy being the operative word here.  Stotts has done a very nice job pulling back on the starters minutes of late however, so I share your optimism.

Absolutely agreed. But nonetheless, we can't worry about that. All I'm gonna do is bask in the glory of the unkown, yet rising team that has become.

I can truly say, I looked at this team early on, and you can quote me saying: I believed this team could be playoff from the getgo after drafting Dame. And to be honest, even an optimistic prediction at that point, was blown away. Nice feeling this is, reall nice
