Sam Amico: Word around NBA is Jazz G Alec Burks is available. Burks, the 12th overall draft pick in 2011, has played in just 5 of Jazz's 10 games. I like this kid. He's still pretty young and i think he'd be a nice scoring punch off the bench.

Hey NIce to see CT posting again!

Its funny, on Friday I was on another Blazer forum and was talking about Burks. I noticed he hasn't been playing in Utah. Not sure how we would get him tho... I was thinking if LA kept playing down trade him for AL Jeff, and Burks

    BUT

LA has been killing it in this CHI game and the HOU game so ... wouldn't trade him now.

If we would consider trading LA to Utah, Al is great but the contract is too big, we have centers, we could use Millsap, Burks, Kanter, and Hayward for LA, Babbitt, Freeland, and Smith. If we got this deal then pull the trigger, otherwise offer Freeland, Babbitt, and a 2nd rounder for Burks and Kanter.

No freaking way guys!! What part of our team captain and allstar makes him trade bait? LaMarcus is money well spent. There's absolutely no logic in trading any core player on this team with the really cheap rookie contracts we've got in Lillard, Leonard, Barton...This isn't fantasy hoops! Whatever happened to franchise loyalty? I just don't get it. There are plenty of ways to boost the bench without busting up the best producing starting 5 in the league. News flash! Nobody is going to trade for Babbit and Smith period! Neil Olshey knows what he's doing. Trust the man!

So laughable to hear people suggesting we trade LaMarcus Aldridge for value, at this time in his career or at this time in the season...Neither makes sense! You guys are insane!

Please step slowly away from the Trade Machine :P

Like Riverman said, THIS IS NOT FANTASY BASKETBALL. Franchise Loyalty is incredibly under-valued, but fans are going to end up seeing how great our core group of players are; Aldridge, Lillard, Hickson, and Leonard have all openly made very sincere comments about wanting to be Blazers for life... this is not a small, insignificant statement, nor is it something they said just to appease the media!

The only trades we should be making will come AFTER the season has played out a bit, because more of our bench guys will have built (some) value and be worthwhile trade assets... but SERIOUSLY, when we are only 10 games in to the season, and currently have the most productive starting 5 in the league, STOP SUGGESTING WE TRADE THEM. It's ridiculous and simply isn't smart strategy for this current team.

Yeah no way we should trade our starting 5 the way they are playing. I talked about that trade after the ATL game.
we could use Millsap, Burks, Kanter, and Hayward for LA, Babbitt, Freeland, and Smith.
one of the craziest trades ever lol

With every healthy step that Price takes, Nolan has become more expendable. I think Nolan could shine in Cleveland alongside his college homey Kyrie. Then id reach out to Coby Karl, who played damned decently in pre-season. We desperately need a third string pg and Smith isnt it. I like the kid,but this is business. Also, whats up with Kenyon ? Man id love to see him beasting here. Curry too should be extended an invite to the Stampede to see where his head and diet are at.

We're not going to be playing the last 3 guys on the roster much this season so it won't matter much past the 11-12 roster spot and the 13 mil we have going into the offseason shouldn't be wasted on guys who are going to ride the pine anyway

Offer them Babbit and Leonard for Kanter and Burks. Maybe throw in a protected 1st rounder.

actually Siccolo it's not worth considering until the deadline in late January around allstar break. Then we'll know who will be unrestricted and what bench players have built value throughout the league. We'll also know who has stepped up on our bench and gained trade value. It's way to early to deal not knowing what value is out there. I'm sure Neil will look for bench scoring first and foremost. I'd say backups for Wesley would be the priority at this point. Offseason they'll probably target a good 6 man and another 7 ft serviceable center. Some player is going to shine off the bench on some team that's crowded at the position and want to get paid next year. Our cap room is a huge benefit. If we compete this season and have a winning culture established, players unhappy on other teams will want to play here.

I'm currently living in Salt Lake and there is no way they are going to trade Kanter away for a couple of third stringers. Lets be realistic here. If we wanted to receive any of their bigs, we would need to give them a guard of worth, which we don't have at all. Plus, the only way I would trade LA would be if we got an all-star back in return that works with what we have already. Jefferson can score but everyone here in Salt Lake says he just slows the system down and is quite the ball hog. I don't see the Jazz wanting to part ways with Alec Burks to a division rival unless we gave them something to salivate at and no one on our bench does that. I do say get rid of Nolan Smith and Luke for some kind of player who can score and just pick up George Karl's son. We need help bad for that bench!

I don't think either Al for LA or that Kanter trade would be good. LA is great, an all star, but that's not all he is to this team and organization. & I don't think Al would fit at all in our tempo of play.

I like Alec Burks, but I can't see Olshey doing any trades so early in the season, without Stotts yet to really give Barton or Claver much time. Maybe soon though? Maybe Nolan/Babbit, who knows. Also, I cannot see Olshey trading away Meyers after he's been doing well and seeming like he'll be a potentially dominant big man.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing anything until next year. And I would be surprised to see us spend even close to all of our cap on bringing any big names in or make any trades. Our starting 5 is great, we could use some bench production but here's why we may not ending up bringing much over to our squad:

    1. JJ Hickson's 1 year deal, likely to be extended with how he has played for us and will recieve probably closer to > 5 mil (right now it is at 2.35 mil)

    2. Pavlovich (at least I hope) has a good chance to be resigned, he's played really great for us, and though he isn't a necessity for our team, he adds great time and can play defense against multiple types of players. Probably wouldn't make soo much but would be for a few years.

    3. Anyone else think there's a possibility we keep Elliot Willimas? He would be inexpensive for us, likely wouldn't be given as much money if he was to sign with a different team. Possibly just a 1 yr deal to see what he's got. (probly around 1-3 mil) Not to mention why would we have kept him this year after the injury?

    4. Jared Jeffries? I mean I think the whole organization loves him, I don't know anyone who works harder at all the little things. Possibility we bring him back a little over what he makes now for a couple more years.

    5. We will probably want some flexibility in our cap still. There's no need to spend it all when we have such a young team with small contracts for some of our key players.

Don't ever try to trade LA guys ! Come on ! What's wrong with you ? I see the same scene like with Nic's contract issue. I was one of the few who badly wanted PDX to sign a new ctr with him and afterwards to match Minny's offer - and you Blazers fans usually opted for trading him for Williams, Ridnour etc.. or simply don't match. Where are you now ? ? ? And where you gonna be when he become an all star ? Some of you guys simply don't understand the vision of building a team . That;s obvious that LMA offensive role is lesser but that;' because our system has changed and we have 2 other great options in Nic' and Lillard. He is still essential, having guys you drafted in a team ,especially as a core is huge thing to me as it should be to any proud franchise. Any assets from Jazz we would need in my opinion are Hayward and Favors, (definitely not Jefferson ) but we don't have a bait to sacrifice. I would keep things as they are now,let players to click, show & develop and be patient until next free agent market is open.
