    OK just stop it. We know Batum can bring it. The Small Forward position isn't a stat machine, unless you're a ballhog like Carmelo Anthony. If Batum is going to miss a bunch of shots, then it's best he gets the bugs out in preseason.

    Our vets are playing spot minutes and not taking risks in preseason. Wouldn't be very bright to see injuries to any of them come regular season. LaMarcus commented on this. Stotts said before preseason that toward the end of preseason the starters would get more burn to develop chemistry. Pace yourself folks! They're going to surprise you when it counts

    Not to mention that despite Nico's lack of point, he contributed on a good number of plays, both ends of the floor, including some nice assists and would've had a few more if the recipient had completed their end.

    Give it some time, Batum will be a solid #2 option behind LaMarcus very soon. When both of them are getting feeds from Dame, it's gonna be a thing of beauty.

    I still want to see more assertiveness out of Nicolas. He's our 2nd/3rd option on offense, I don't think expecting 16-18 points per game is out of the question.

    Yeah, we certainly all want to see more out of Nic, but I still find it petty to make a public hooplah out of every bad game he has. Notice nobody posted on here or created a new thread for his 15 and 4 game against GS. It's not all star numbers, but it's a solid 2nd-option contribution. I just don't dig the negative perspective that points out every failing and ignores every success. It's just not the way to be a fan.

    Are people expecting a different Nicolas Batum this year?  We might not get that.  He might be different by being worse.  Hard to predict.  We knew well what he was and still forked out the cash.  This is the same stuff he did all last year.  Mediocre most of the time with some outlier games where he would go off or totally suck.

    I think he will have a similar year to last year.  He's a bread and butter guy, not a control the game guy or a finisher guy.  He may never be.  If he ever becomes an all star, I don't see it happening for another 3-4 years.  But it IS possible.  Hopefully he's a Blazer when and if it happens.

    Here are the averages I expect Nic to get to: 17 ppg, 6 rpg, and 2.5 apg, 1 spg, 1 bpg.

    He's capable of better, but that's my realistic expectation.

    Guys with similar averages are Caron Butler, Jason Terry, Michael Beasley, and isn't much worse than Igoudala. Those are guys I would pay a lot of money to. Maybe not 46.5 million, but a lot of money.

    Hopefully it gets to 20+, 8, 4, 1.5, and 1.5... but those are All Star numbers. You can't bribe someone into being an All Star, so if that's your expectation... get a little more perspective.

    Great game by the way.

    Stop hating on Batum. The guy is a beast and doesn't have to prove anything to you or any of us.

    Although I'm hoping for a breakout season for him under Stotts and along side our new squad. ^^
    In my opinion, the Jazz game was just a little taste of what he is truly capable of. 
    He's still real young and has shown improvement every year since he's been a Blazer.

    500/400/900 if he does that and guards the best wing every night and plays 82 games..... haters will have to label Batum elite SM and worth every pennie... time will tell but I am betting on Nic to flourish under Stotts

    Another factor that may significantly effect Nic's stats this year are the play of his fellow starters.  Lillard may be taking more shots than our former PG.  Hickson will take more shots than our former C.  Mathews will hopefully be more efficient (as he looks to be after this preseason) and possibly be a bigger part of the offense.  If Nic scores less this year but his shot % improves, I will be satisfied and feel like we're getting our monies' worth.  It's a team game and we need him to play his role well, not necessarily to carry us.

    Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.
