With the t-wolves, mavs, nuggets, jazz, warriors, and us all competing for the final three seeds this year. How do you think it would be if we were in the arguably easier eastern conference? Where do you think we'd rank if we swapped with a team like the bucks? I think we'd make the 6th seed easy.

No way Mbmurr, I don't think there's any chance of us being a lottery team in the east...Compared to the bottom of that barrel, I think even sliding to 8th seed would be below expectations for this squad

Im not so sure we make the playoffs in the east. The two NY teams are no longer bottom feeders. You have Boston, Chicago and Miami who are locks for a playoff spot. That's five spots locked up. Then you have Indy who is practically a lock, and Philly who I think would beat us out. That leaves only one spot. You have Washington, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Orlando who are huge ?'s. Then the bottom feeders in Detroit, Charlotte, and Toronto.  I think the gap between the conferences is closing.

I hear what you're saying Foul, but just because the NY teams are no longer bottom feeders doesn't mean that they're as much of a lock to get in the playoffs as Miami, Chicago, and Boston. Don't know if I missed a roster update recently, but pretty sure the Knicks are looking like Team Father Time this year; they may not be bottom feeders but they're certainly not in a better position than we are... And the Nets may be a little stronger on paper, but they also have had plenty of drama in their house, and let's not forget that they just moved. Those things don't help a team, at least not immediately.

So yes, the top 3 spots are locked in the East. Indy is strong but I'm not convinced they're consistent... let's consider them #4. Philly lost Iggy and is pretty much looking for their next weapon, kinda like us. I think we can face them toe to toe, but lets be skeptic about our guys and say that Philly takes #5.

Atlanta will not be the Atlanta of last year, and... I simply don't fear Washington, Milwaukee, or even Orlando anymore. I'm not saying we'll easily crush them, but we're just not going to finish below all of them.

So with just a slight variation from what you said, suddenly we'd be a fair bet to take 6-8 in the East and maybe even #5 :) You're right though, the gap between the Conferences IS closing. But West is still notably stronger.

If we were in the East, we'd have empty arenas for homegames. Being located in the west, what exactly would the point of flying east to play teams 4 times a season?  I think it's already stupid that Memphis and New Orleans are considered western division. We always stack up better than eastern competition but you can have a losing record in the east and make the playoffs. Right now there are definitely 3 teams in the east that are better on paper.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
