I just hope the kid can play all 82 games this year if he does we will be okay if not this team will be a disaster.

I always wanted Ridnour to play for the Blazers but we're not getting him anytime soon and he's not getting younger. I think disaster is an adjective for last season, not this one. The young talent on this team needs positive support from the fanbase. I see us in a different light in that I think we're deep at most positions and our bench can be phenomenal. Sure, we're not beating Miami anytime soon unless they have major setbacks, but I think we can realistically get to the 6-7 seed in the playoffs if we stay healthy and the rookies pan out. Good thing is our young players are going to play this season. Ronnie Price, Jared Jeffries and Sasha Pavlovic are all 3 excellent defenders. In my opinion only Babbit is a weak link on this roster. Sure there are unproven players but we'll no more before the trade deadline. I'm ready for some exciting, competitive ball this season....we also got 4 picks in the draft, not 2

Kirk Hinrich was on my radar as well as Ridenour. Moot at this point though. I think Nolan and E.Will may have break-out seasons. Price is definitely going to make them both Lillard and Smith better.

We got 4 pick cmeese...we sold the 4th pick for 3 mill on draft day which helped us buyout Shawne Williams

I dont think we should trade anyone besides
Nolan or some of our wings (Sasha, Babbit)

If we fix our team it should be by free agency.
Near the deadline or during the season, then we should be talking about trades.

I know that trades are always exciting and fun to talk about, but lets wait for the season to start first

We also have a lot of players who cant be traded until December as does other teams around the league

Earlier in the week in this space we talked about some of the guys who’s contracts make them expendable, but there are a few other guys that shouldn’t get too comfortable in their current situations as they are likely on the move before the February 21st, NBA trade deadline. Here are some of the guys to watch: Tyrus Thomas – Charlotte Bobcats The Charlotte Bobcats would love to get out of the Tyrus Thomas business. To say it has gone bad in Charlotte between the team and the player is an understatement. Sources close to the process say the team hopes new head Coach Mike Dunlap can reach Tyrus in a way that Paul Silas couldn’t, but the truth of the matter is that Tyrus is not in the long-term plan. If the Bobcats can find anyone who’d take him, they’d trade Tyrus tomorrow

Among the free agents remaining on the market is former Celtic Mickael Pietrus, who does not want to play for the league minimum. Id love to have him backing up Nic instead of Sasha Pavlovic. We'd have a french connection like the Spurs' Parker and Diaw.

Pietrus is the epitome of inconsistent not sure I could take that kind of frustration. But would like him a lot more than Babbitt

Pietrus always gives a full effort that is not my issue it is his common nights where he goes 0-10 from the field with a couple turnovers that bug me.

This is where I think they messed up by giving Batum a huge contract. I'm not debating on whether he deserves it or not, only time will tell but it pretty much crippled any chances of cap space. I say you try to keep LA. What other options are there? Portland needs to work on marketing in order to attract decent free agents. I mean come on, it's the birth place of Nike. This is why they should get Phil in the front office in some capacity. Big name, legend, great basketball mind, and players must have huge respect for him. I'm not surprised the team couldn't get any free agents this summer. Players want to know who they'll be playing for and their role on the team.

I love LA but we might be better off trading him for a hefty package than keeping him and trying to build the team around him.

Only way we trade LA is if Hickson can put up 18-10 a game. If he cant then keep our franchise player.
He is a top 5 power forward. Top 10 best scorer. Leader. Been with us for so long. LA is the face of the Blazers.

When he starts expressing negative feeling about the organization then discuss trades involving him.

If we trade Lamarcus we need GREAT players back.
LA is a top 15 player in the NBA. We need to get back at least a top 20 player back in return. Or trade him for a good asset and a Number 1 draft pick. I dont feel comfortable with that either.

I dont want to trade Lamarcus.
