So today, GM Kevin Pritchard announced Paul Millsap was signed to an offer sheet. The Utah Jazz have 7 days to match this offer. What do you guys think, will they match? If they do, they'll be over the luxury tax line. How does Millsap fit into our rotation. Are you excited if he comes?

He would be a beast on he boards and allow Joel to be a trade asset instead of an untouchable. But what I like most about this move is that is makes the front office stand pat for a week and freaking sign Brandon Roy. This is very embarrassing to see our franchise player being hung out to dry. This should have been the easiest move of the summer.
Back on topic, I really want Millsap. He knows his role and does what the coach asks, and he would totally weaken Utah, but unfortunately, Utah should and will match.

Yeah, he fits into the second unit as the back up PF. He and Aldrige will play limited minutes together with Aldrige at the 5. I think he fits in great. Utah WILL match this offer and they will move Boozer and possibly be forced to move others in order to keep him. I really think this is insurance, that is why it has taken so long to get to this point. Portland wants Heinrich and if they don't get him because Utah won't take Kurt Thomas instead of Tyrus Thomas then Portland steals Milsap from them. It will end up being one or the other. I think if Utah messes up the Chicago trade, Portland may stick it to them by still signing Milsap and trading directly with Chicago or acquiring a different PG through trade. I think right now it is a way of telling Utah that we are serious about this trade and they better get their act together.

    in reguards to milsap.....
Here's the thing..... If I heard right and we offered him $36million for 4 years thats absolutley rediculious.... why not just go with what we have? A great team that will be better minus channing.... and more playing time for BAYLESS...... we have plenty of time to make a trade or sign a free agent down the road b4 the all-star break.... we are rushing into this because hedo didnt want to be a part of the Blazers.... who care's?!?!?! we're better off without him considering it was upsetting to Rudy that we considered aquireing Turk... and with good reason..... Rudy is younger more athletic and a much more promising player for us than Hedo who is on his last leg... I dont care what anyone says 5 year $60 million is waaayyy too much for hedo who is no Roy... And by the way... dont get me started on that whole thing.... Why the hell is there hessitation on signing our FRANCHISE player to whatever the hell he wants?!? we have NEVER and i mean NEVER had a player with the potential that ROY has.... 2 time all-star rookie of the year 3 years in the league? you kidding me!? WHAT ARE KP ALLEN MCMILLAN DOOINNGG OR EVEN THINKING!? Waiting for another MJ in a draft that we can pick up and not pass on this time!? As far as im concerned any and all teams in the NBA would give roy the Max contract extention and satisfy his requests... maybe im missing something!? And please if I am someone respond to me so I can understand why we are trying to sign a Bench PF in Milsap for $36 MILL but NOT our BOY ROY!? Baffling.... I understand we have another year with Roy before we must act to re-sign.... but... Why give other teams a chance to match or outbid our offer!? afterall with the way the front office has treated roy with this latest lack of concern for locking in our STAR player why would or SHOULD ROY be loyal to us when our front office isnt being loyal to him!? what more do you want him to do!? Win a Championship!? its comming and thats all you can ask of roy that he hasnt done thus far...... All my 23 years of being on this planet and being a DIE-HARD BLAZER FAN.. I finally thought we had a Front Office who "GOT IT" but apparently its back to the same ol BS.... THIS IS A WHITSETT MOVE.... Remember that idiot? WOW.....I love the Blazers... but I just can't support the lack of urgency on this issue with ROY.... and Milsap... lets just wait on that until the all-star break.... nuff said.... please respond if you don't agree.. class1c

you seem to be another person hitting the panic button and going on about stuff you dont know or understand. There is no risk what so ever in signing a offer sheet to millsap, either we get him as a back up PF which we need while hurting Utah all the same OR we force Utah to make a trade that favors us. IE get us a player we want in exchange for them getting millsap.
As far as people flipping out about this whole contract debacle.. its getting old and quite frankly ridiculous. No one here has any idea of what is being said or happening or any of it so please stop acting like you are the King of all that is basketball. I for one am not worried in the slightest because its obviously gonna be done, its been what 3 days? big deal. If something seems so simple that everyone points it out.. and its not done. Clearly its not that simple. Theres more to it than just giving someone whatever they want, EVEN TO FRANCHISE PLAYERS. They know what they are doing lets just leave it at that and move on for gods sake.. its like even though we had all this success and won 54 games.. playoffs.. young team.. just because we dont make blockbuster moves in the offseason we should fire everyone? Ya ok. Id like to know where the thought process would be in that (i realize know one said that but i seem to hear ppl implying just that)
Im personally looking forward to summer league and next season regardless of what happens this offseason. We could do nothing at all and i would be just as happy as if we got Millsap or anyone else. Sometimes doing less is better.

I can totally live with Millsap ending up a Blazer. He will work out great with our guys on the court and I have not heard of any character issues to worry about. The whole 7 day waiting period part is a pain.

Junior!?!?! What does Paul Milsap have to offer you??  Paul was drafted the same year as LA and B Roy, so he is a young player who could fit in with this team.  He is also a banger.  He is a tuff guy who fights hard on the inside.  This would greatly compliment the outside capabilities of the team we already have.  In the games we lost, we lost because we could not get inside.  Milsap will get inside and get the job done.  He started 38 games for the jazz and averaged 16 and 10 for those games.  Right now we do not have a player who averaged a double double for that many games.  He will give Coach more choices of what style to play against opposing teams.  We could pound it in, drive and dish, or even start raining in the 3's... This type of player could be the missing piece of the puzzle.

KP goes BPA, so that's why we are at Millsap.
Lee won't come off the bench, Millsap already said he would.
Iverson, you're joking right? Yea, lets go ahead and sign him, then promply finish 7th in the West. Unless dude is the main man on the team, his team's suck and he is way past his prime.
Miller is a good argument, but, for now, seems like he will always be a backup plan. I'm not sure
why he isn't re-signed w/ Philly yet, but the longer he waits the beter it is for us.

Also Przybilla can opt out of his deal next year and may want more minutes, so this is insurance if Joel bolts or if we can package him in a trade to get another piece.

Przybilla is Oden's mentor and best friend on the team! We would never give him up!

I would personally love Milsapp on the team he should fit in perfectly like it has already been pointed out in previous posts.  Also like someone else has already noted I'm in a waiting type of position when it comes to contract negotiations with Roy and Aldrige because these type of things usually take a long time to complete and finalize anyway so it should all be fine, once again in KP I trusts! Haha

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
