Been following the combine on ESPNU and twitter a bit.  Sounds like Lillard's really impressed, but mostly for the people who didn't see him play at Weber... which is pretty much what the combine is all about... seeing guys in drills that they didn't get a chance to see play over the past year or two.  Which is what I thought scouts were all about.  For the most part, I think this combine is a waste of time.  Most these guys are having workouts with teams.

    Things I saw, heard...

MKG is terrible in front of the camera's.  He has a stutter and he really came off as camera shy.  That was news to me.  Kentucky kept him out of the limelight and he just played.  But it's all the more reason to like MKG; he doesn't care about anything but playing ball and winning.

Meyers Leonard's stock is rising.  I don't know if he's the #2 C to Davis now (ahead of Zeller), but Leonard does have more upside than Zeller, so it's feasible if Portland was considering Zeller at 11, well, I"m sure Meyers is on their radar.. they already worked him out.

I think it was Chad Ford who flashed his mock draft of the top 10 and it was based on team need, not most talented.

Right now he has Waiters top 10.  Christ, his stock has SHOT through the roof and that's disappointing.  If Portland wants him, they need to use a lottery pick, trading down won't get him like I'd hoped.

Lillard was not in his top 10, but again it was based on need.

Drummond is slated to go to Portland at 6

Many are saying Barnes is going 4th overall.  ugh.

I've been thinking Drummond at 6 and Jones at 11 would make for a strong frontcourt.  But I don't see Jones going 11.

god. i wish i could watch the combine. i'm putting in my time off request for 6/28 though.
i've heard lillard looks great which i guess is good and bad.  i was really hoping for him to be available at 11 but not sure he'll last that long. and i don't think he's quite #6 material.  i was really hoping for a beal/lillard backcourt. the stars would have to align for that to happen. barnes would be nice too.

have they played any 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 drills yet? wondering how drummond looks. the guy terrifies me and he seems to be our most likely pick from what i can tell. anyway, it just creeps me out the blazers picking a high risk center. he has the biggest bust potential so i really just hope somebody takes him before 6 so its not even an option. it would make the decision much easier. i understand the upside but i'm just thinking about how if it can go wrong, it will go wrong when it comes to blazer bigs.

After watching the combine I think Portland has got to move out of their current positions in the draft. 6 and 11 is a tad too low for the big lower risk talent and too high for drafting for need.

I would like to see them pair the 6th pick with a 2nd rounder and another player and draft Barnes. Barnes is clearly NBA ready and would make an instant impact. If Zeller is gone at 11 then trade down to early 20s and pick up Melo, his athletic ability is impressive but he won't be an immediate impact.

I'm against drafting Waiters or Lillard. They are both a risk and neither would give the Blazers instant game. PG has got to be obtained through free agency.

Neil Olshey said we couldn't use a talent acquisition tool to address need, so I expect the Blazers to take the best player available (for once). That might still mean Drummond is coming to Portland, but it all depends on what happens with picks 1-5. If the stars aligned, the BPA at 6 and 11 will also be players that can fill some gaps in our roster. Honestly, though, I can't think of a position that doesn't have a gap or two. C, PF, SF, SG, PG... Portland needs to address issues at all 5 positions, some in the starting lineup and some on the bench.

Also, the reason Barnes is slated at #4 is almost exclusively because Cleveland has expressed interest in him. Even if they are telling the truth--which is doubtful, that might mean they are willing to move down a couple of spots to get him. Maybe they will even deal with Portland to take him at #6.

I think the only way Portland could draft either MKG or Barnes is to trade up to #2 or #3.  I have no clue why Cleveland  would do this trade because MKG, and Barnes are gone at #4

The Warriors also have basically 2 head coaches with Jackson and Mike Malone. If Golden State allows anyone to talk to him this summer they are stupid.

Maniac I imagine a lot of that has to do with cmeese he posts more than anyone else on here by a significant portion and when it is Batum trade talk he replies frequently, keeping Batum only gets a couple quips out of him.

Nice Idea but I think the TWolves trade is very lobsided in our favor

Derrick Williams and Budinger are proven players in the league. Claver and Freeland are not

Hawes was playing nice this season and would be a good pick up imo ...

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
