    April 7th, 2012
5:30 PM | Bradley Center | Milwaukee, WI
Trail Blazers (26-29) At Bucks (27-28)

The Trail Blazers will be looking to exact some revenge on the Bucks after Milwaukee stormed into the Rose Garden on March 20th and walked away with a 116-87 victory. In their win, Carlos Delfino and Drew Gooden combined for 35 points, on 70% shooting from the field, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. But they may not be in action for Saturday night's contest in the Brew City. Both players sat out Milwaukee's win over the Bobcats tonight at the Bradley Center. Gooden is sidelined with a sore back while Delfino is dealing with a strained right groin. I would guess that Carlos Defino would definitely miss tomorrow's game as he wasn't even listed in the box score tonight, while Gooden is a tossup.

But even without those two, the Bucks still possess one of the most lethal backcourts in the NBA today with Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis. Each player is capable of going off for 30+ on any given night and tonight they carried their team -- together -- past Charlotte, combining for 43 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds, and 8 steals. The best way to stymie an explosive offensive duo like that is to make them work on the defensive end -- an area of each's game neither is known for excelling in. Ray Felton took Deltone West out of tonight's game by abusing him repeatedly, either via the pick and roll or three-point shot, racking up 30 points in total, on 12-18 shooting and helping out his teammates along with way by handing out 7 assists. If Felton is unable to have a repeat performance, then the onus falls on Wesley Matthews' shoulders to provide scoring from the wing. Matthews, a native of Madison and played his college basketball in the very arena the Bucks play in, should have extra incentive to put on a show for friends and family similar to what LaMarcus Aldridge did in his hometown against Dallas.

This game could be the most crucial game for both squads up to this point and time of the season. Portland got a huge road win in Dallas to keep their playoff hopes alive but unfortunately, Houston and Denver both won, keeping them four games back. With just 10 games left in the season, any loss along the way could kill playoff hopes. Milwaukee, on the other hand, is in a nip and tuck race for the eight seed out East with the Knicks. Currently, they are just one game back of New York with 11 games to go. Expect an intense, 48 minutes of hoops Saturday night. For Portland to stay alive for a postseason berth, they need to bottle up and contain Jenings and Ellis. I think a win would be hard to obtain if that duo is allowed to score over 50 combined points. Also, the Blazer bench needs to pick up the slack. No one in the second unit had a particularly good game and it forced Coach Canales to play his starters long minutes. With this being the second night of a back-to-back (for both teams in fact), the bench will HAVE to play well, because Coach Kaleb won't have the luxury of playing his starters heavy minutes if things go south with the bench. Whichever bench brings it Saturday night, that team will walk away with an enormous victory.

Poor finish to a good start.  Felton had a double double.

Yes, but he had 5 turnovers as well. Jonny came in and didn't give us a boost either. This team is in dire need of a consistent point guard. Whether that is consistent defense, scoring or distributing, we need it.

The game really got away from us when our outside shots stopped falling. LA was a man-child in the 3rd quarter, hitting on 6-8 of his shots and it forced the Bucks to throw the double at him. The double left the shooters open, but we shot 1-7 in the 4th from 3 and many of those were open looks. Then the fatigue slowly kicked in and they out-hustled us on the glass and that was all she wrote.

I will say this though, WE NEED MORE FROM BATUM! He's too talented to take only 5-6 shots. He's the second option on this squad but he still defers. He could be lethal off of the dribble drive but he doesn't utilize it enough. It's probably too late for this season but looking ahead, we need Nico to take that "next step" if we, as a team, are to do so as well.

Yeah DHawes.  Batum has bad contract written all over him I think.  Can he take that next step?  It has been several years now and we have seen limited improvement.  He and Wes are more like great bench players that you see on championship/deep playoff teams...not starters.  We only have one reliable performer.  That kills us.

the schedule has nothing to do with it the bucks played back to back also and they didnt "run out of steam" the problem was 3 fold in this one. Defence went limp, what rebounding in the second half? and missed shots. I am sick of that zone defence, when its working, great but when you see them taking back the lead you had its time to go back to man on man in my opinion. both times we had the lead they switched to zone defence and made it easier for the bucks to get an open man and zip right in and dunk it! I think with this schedule it makes it show who are the men and who are the boys and sure enough we saw who the men were last night.
I am a fan of the NBA fining referee's for obvious stupid calls and HARD AGRESSIVE DEFENCE FROM START TO FINISH NOT WAITING TO DIG A 10-30 POINT HOLE

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
