I love the Trailblazers and when things are going well the Rose Garden is one of the loudest buildings in the NBA. However, that is the problem when the Blazers struggle at home the entire building is quiet. That should never happen, the Timber's Army cheers pretty much the entire game win or lose. It is the same for fans European Soccer.

The Blazers need some epic chants, the ability to curse and we also need cheaper beer as it encourages loudness. I am not advocating for dropping f'bombs every five seconds but sometimes it just feels good to get it out.

Check out these clips and tell me Deron on anyone else would not want to play for these kind of fans.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_v0rqvb_EY here are some more examples.

There are a lot more examples than those but the point remains the same if you go to a Blazer game and get mad at someone in front of you because they are standing up cheering the whole time maybe you should just watch the games elsewhere. Portland needs passionate fans not just fair weather fans.

BTW my Blazer ban for refusing to sit and excessive cursing/ cheering ends tonight so I will be there chanting Gerald Wallace Clap Clap Clap all night.

I can't sing, and MLS Soccer is the weakest pro sport I've ever seen. I can watch a Euro-League match, because they play like it's hockey. It's FOOTBALL over there. The Timbers? They play SOCCER, and it happens to be in front of 20,000 exremely loud and drunk fans, who have probably never played a contact sport in their life.
I am a fan of multiple All-Stars on the Blazers roster this season!

What ever the name you want to call the sport the point remains that the Timbers fans are consistently louder and more passionate over the entire course of a game than Blazer fans.

It was called soccer in Europe and everywhere else in the world long before it was called football. Fact.

Obviously you haven't come to a Timbers game if you think they play weak :P

If for no other reason, you should try coming to just one Timbers game for the chance to let out your officiating anxieties. It is so much more satisfying after witnessing a bad call to scream curse words and jeers at refs instead of having to just boo for 10 seconds while they ignore you. MLS refs are incapable of ignoring it when the ENTIRE stadium is on their feet screaming bloody murder. Now THAT is a freakin homecourt advantage, let the Blazer's semi-faked sellout streak be damned.

The saddest part is, the Blazers could easily have that same energy and passion at their games, but they overprice everything so badly that the true fans are mostly stuck in the attic.

Just imagine for a second, the rabid fans you could have close to the court to inspire the players if they let just ONE secton in the 100- or 200-level be general admission. That would be SICK. You'd have grown men and women in red and black head to toe including facepaint and noisemakers and never sitting down. That would  be AMAZING. There's no way you'd have players slacking off with true fans within earshot holding them accountable. Welcome back, 48-minute-basketball. Welcome back, dominant home record. The RG needs to learn from JWF's example. Afterall sports are for entertainment. So give them back to the entertained.

another good post, Blazer247. even when i can afford to sit close i end up in the 300s so i can get rowdy with the good fans, it's just more fun being around the passionate fans. I wish the bench/refs heard half of the stuff we said up there in the 300s

I also really like that idea the Blazer Army should be behind the other teams bench. It should be known that if your sitting in that area you better cheer your arse off. It would be nice to see our own version of the Cameron Crazies but I have not seen that kind of passion consistently from Blazer fans since Drexler left.

I can absolutely guarantee with 100% certainty that if the Rose Garden allowed us true fans to have just ONE SINGLE SECTION in either the 100 or 200 level, it would be standing-room-only EVERY SINGLE GAME. Cmeese I'm sorry that you don't see it but I promise you, that kind of consistent passion is most definitely here. We're just stuck in the rafters is all.

God I wish I had some sort of belief that we could actually make that happen. If only we had just one person with access to Paul Allen's ear, I feel like a petition of signatures for this kind of idea could actually go somewhere.

Imagine Blake or Kobe or Durant coming in to the RG, and knowing that they won't be able to get away with their normal preferential treatment from the refs tonight, because in this building, the refs are held accountable by rabid, bloodthirsty fans. I swear, it would make THAT MUCH of a difference. Seriously, you should see a Timbers game. I'm not saying that bad calls still don't happen, but when they do, the refs make damn freakin sure that they can justify their call when it's shown on the jumbotron.

Imagine having the confidence that when you go to see a basketball game, that it would be about your players playing their best basketball against opponents held to the same standards, instead of the star-power or $$$-contracts having such obvious and undeniable influence on the way the game is played. Now THAT, I would spend huge money on season tickets for. Not this...

i've never sat down for more than 3minutes in the 300s and i've never sat at all in the second half of a game in the 300s if the section behind the oppositions bench had cheaper tix id be willing to make the 3hour trek over the pass more often just for the yelling and screaming.

i sat right behind the blazer bench once and it was the worst game experience ever, i was even asked to sit so the kid behind me could see. i sat in the 300s for 2 playoff games and i cant tell you how many complete strangers kissed me and jumped on me and flipped off tyson chandler with me when aldridge finally had enough of him and pushed him back.

my most memorable moment was game 4 last year, the giant blaze rose to the ceiling of the arena, we were down 20 and the 300s just erupted for no reason other than we believed, i chugged my beer and through the use of the force, began channeling the strength in my knees to roy's knees, then roy decides to go off for the greatest 12minutes of basketball i've ever seen anyone play in my life.

if paul allen does sell the team, i hope the new owner realizes how passionate the portland fans can be when we aren't bent over with ticket prices and stupid tv contracts.

that said i think they should re build the section behind the away bench without seats and packs us in like rabid animals, heck they could half the price of admission to that section and just pack twice the peopl in there that way. then half it again for all the extra beer sales and still make more than they currently do.

@Blazer247 I do see the passion from some of the fans but they seem to be either too far from the court or in the vocal minority. The Blazers and professional sports have become way to PC and restricted. I do love hearing the Timbers fans give the refs a hard time.

I am sick of polite families at the games I go to I want to see loud drunken fans living and dying but what is happening on the court. I remember going to a playoff game in 1992 and seeing the entire building on its feet pretty much the whole game. People were stripping in the aisles and the building was shaking so much I thought it might get condemned. The only time I have seen a Blazer game close to that was last year during Roy's amazing fourth quarter during the Dallas series

i was at game 3 of the 5game series against LA when we were up 6 with like 45seconds to go, a grown man kissed my cheek, and at that moment, i didn't particularly care, in fact, we held each other in a loving embrace, then kobe horry and shaq ruined it for us and we cried together after being swept from the first round.

i saw shawn kemp fumble the ball and some how put the ball around shaq and accidently put it in the hoop. it was the greatest mistake ever.

I even wish that the top deck was reserved for those who are the avid fans. Standing only and screaming the whole game. I'm a major Timbers fan and the experience is amazing. Just wish it was like that at Blazer games.

I just wish the NBA embraced their fans the watch the Timbers and European soccer teams do. I say if Portland wont do it for us then we need to organize ourselves. We should pick a section fill it up with the loudest, craziest fans we know and show the rest of the Rose City what Rip City is.
