I am predicting this year that our draft pick could be either late lottery or just outside the lottery pick, so somewhere probably around pick 14-18. Now that we have acquired a first round draft pick from New Jersey, we have another first rounder in a VERY deep draft. So if New Jersey does not have a top 3 draft pick in this 2012 draft, that pick is ours (is that right DHawes?) If we could get a pick around 6 and anywhere from 14-18, we can get high quality players. To answer hella boom's question if we have the something like the 6th pick, I say Portland goes for Jeremy Lamb, from UConn. Pure shooter who can flat out score the basketball. The later pick could be used for maybe a replacement player for Gerald Wallace, someone who can play the 3 or 4. How about Terrance Jones? Big physical SF who is 6'9" and could play the 4 on occasion. I dont know, just my thoughts.

Also DHawes22 can you let me know if I am correct on the New Jersey draft pick?

Babbitt is a puss, did you see him get out of the way rather then play defense the other night? With the pick we get from NJ we should pick Davis, PJonesIII or Sullinger then use our pick at 15 to get a PG.

lol @ babbitt being "big" and "physical". Try "soft" and "dear-in-headlights"...

if the kid can grow up and improve himself like certain other players did in the off season (Williams, Aldridge, Batum), he'd stand a much better chance at not facing the same fate as player who didn't make any changes (A.Johnson).

I'm glad someone else likes Lamb too. However, you can probably get him later in the draft. Don't need to use New Jersey's pick on him. And the Blazers' pick will be in the 9 to 13 range, not 14 to 18, which is all playoff teams except for the 14th slot.

The New Jersey pick could be used on Sullinger, Barnes, or Drummond.

Oh and I forgot to post this link on my thoughts on the lottery picks we could get:

It's unfortunate Elliot Williams got hurt. The Blazers just starting seeing him what he could do, after Nate finally starting giving him some minutes. I think he has the talent to be our future starting SG.

Hopefully Jonny Flynn can give us some good production, he's one heckuva player, just been caught by the injury bug. Same thing can be said about Thabeet. If either of these guys can get back to form, it could change who we look at in the draft room.

I am a fan of multiple All-Stars on the Blazers roster this season!

Drummond will almost certainly go before we pick but if he's available he's the obvious choice.

My bad, i would have responded sooner, but i was still laughing at a statement about us having a six nine bruiser in Babbitt. If our hometown boy Jones is available, snatch him. Not with the jersey pick obviously, but the next one.  He i believe,is a real lefty, with a mean streak, that i believe Buck Williams could harness into a real beast. Not this action figure Babbitt, who should have met with the same demise as his Nevada counterpart. Dont sleep on Flynn, i truly hope he has a chip on his shoulder. Thabeet too can stand a toughening. A few bows in practice  from our fossil Thomas and he should be right as rain.

On our pick from NJ... With a motivated Gerald Wallace playing up to his abilities now in NJ, seems unlikely that either the Hornets or Wizards will catch the Nets.  If that scenario continues to play out Blazer fans, we will have the fourth selection in this upcoming draft.

I study all rookies of this year draft, and in my opinion, T.Robinson is the best in this draft, but we don't get him. In PG position - nothing interesting. All PG's is or not good, or players like Fredette, who plays not in strong university. J.Sullinger, J.Lamb/A.Drummond will be the best, what Blazers can pick.

I think if Drummond is still there around the 4th pick, I say we take him in a heartbeat. If not, I still say either Bradley Beal from Florida or Jeremy Lamb from UConn. Our pick, which will now be late lottery, it will be again either Beal or Lamb if they are somehow still there, and if not Terrance Jones. Also a sleeper I think in the 2nd round is Jae Crowder from Marquette. I like all these guys and they could easily help with some of the inconsistent outside shooting (Beal and Lamb), lack of a young big man (Drummond) , and tough play (Jones and Crowder).

I think we need a SG or SF more than anything right now.  We need another solid performer at either and we can bump Batum to fill the spot we need.  Matthew's inconsistency has lost him starter clout.  It's been long enough.  I like the potential of a Smith/Felton competition for PG.  I guess we could use a solid C too.  Love the looks of Beal.  Is the Melo guy from 'Cuse not in the picture?  If not why not?

What about Hollis Thompson from Georgetown? He's a mid second round draft pick. 6'8 smal forward who can score from the perimeter. Guy plays like Danny Granger.

Drummond should be a first choice for us assuming we get New Jersey's pick and he is still available. Arnett Moultrie is a great rebounder and a very athletic forward. He plays with a high motor and would be a nice fit for Portland. Another good pick would be Meyers Leonard or John Henson depending on who is available at the time.

The problem is we need someone to spare LA from playing 40-42 mins a night and the best players in this draft are all 4's so I am not sure if we will pass on one if Drummond is not available.
