It looks like the Timberwolves are interested in Jamal Crawford according to Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld-

http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/35101827Also have heard that Clippers are very intersted in Crawford as well, along with Milwaukee, and Toronto.

The Lakers are in talks with Portland for Raymond again as well...

Not as many rumors about who Portland is inquiring about. Have only heard Steve Nash really and maybe a few rumors abour Rondo and Ray Allen/ Paul Pierce in a package deal. Kind of an interesting article/idea

We don't really want to lose Batum really? or Matthews.. heck no to that! If you want to add another player to the mix (considering an already given choice to be Felton) how about trading Oden with Felton along with a draft pick for a point guard. That's if were being serious about the playoffs, championship? That's the kind of deal you pull. Rondo to Portland really seems unlikely. Nash as mentioned above is a good one, but you guys remember (it's never talked about, assuming the portland media has gone far to keep it from being talked about) we could have had MJ instead of Bowie, opportunity well missed there, he's retired. Fastforward to 2007, we could have got KD instead of Oden, well we sure aren't going to rewind in order to get KD anytime soon. But we can rewind to 2005 when we traded a pick to get M. Webster. Where's Martell now? Scratch that. Where's Deron Williams anybody??? I think in the long run, D. Williams is a much better pick for Portland than Nash IMO, I mean he's young, there's so many rumors circulating around him but you never hear portland.. hmm he is in the trade talks, how come portland isn't spreading rumors about Williams coming here? It be a perfect fit for everybody including Matthews who he played with, and Aldridge (that pick & roll offense would work so great). Let's go for that! i like that! But D. Williams and Nash do seem like the only real candidates for us.

    It be like this
    PG. D. Williams
    SG- Batum
    SF- Gerald Wallace
    PF- LA
    C- Camby
    Bench
G- Jamal Crawford (he needs to come off the bench)
    G- Wes Matthews
    F- Elliot Williams
    C- Joel Pryzbilla
    F- Craig Smith
    F- Kurt Thomas
    G- Nolan Smith

That's definitely an upgrade if you ask me.

No reason to trade for Deron Williams. He'll be a free agent this summer and we will be able to offer him a MAX contract. Same goes for Steve Nash (wouldn't offer MAX, but you get the picture).

If owner PA is selling, this team will be reduced to an expansion-like team, in a small market, penny-less in a down economy.  THAT is starting over.

We will all know soon enough.  Contractually, the Blazers are not financially obligated outside of LA and Matthews' contracts...nothing of significance that is.  No GM and a coach with one foot in the door already.  Sure looks like a sale is imminent, hope I'm wrong.

Expecting to use their unprecedented flexibility to lure a FA in the off-season is not reasonable.  Players like DWill will land in more desirable locations...like Los Angeles...which is likely why the Lakers are so interested in Felton and his expiring contract.  Bothersome to me are the lack of rumors involving Portland.

why make dramatic comments like, "looks like paul allen is selling the team" or obvious comments that every blazer fan already knows like, "they passed on jordan then on durant"? lol. why do people make the same comments on every post? its easy to look back and say who we should've got cp3, kobe, blake griffin. lol you could say that about any player and any team. lol

Dwight Jaynes believes that Luke Ridnour is a "Back-Up" Plan-
I do believe there is something to all the talk of Portland sending Jamal Crawford to Minnesota for Luke Ridnour. There's no getting around the fact that Nate McMillan seems to prefer using Wesley Matthews as the backup shooting guard over Crawford. If that's the case, with Nic Batum now firmly ensconced in his rightful position as the starting shooting guard, Crawford isn't going to get the minutes he deserves. If that's the case, move him and move him as soon as possible. I'm not sure what they were thinking of by bringing him here in the first place.
I also been told by league sources that the Ridnour trade is a backup plan for the Blazers, who are still hard after another point guard. That could be Nash, Rajon Rondo or Jose Calderon.

Trading for Ridnour would be a big No-No! According to Hoopshype, Rid is still owed $8.3 million over two years once this season is complete. And frankly, I don't think Rid is the answer to elevating this team over the top.

I have also heard rumblings of Michael Beasley's name being thrown around these Crawford to Minnesota rumors. MB is in the same situation as Batum where he is a RFA and we could match any offers. A 2-3-4 combo of Batum, Beasley, and Aldridge is pretty young and formidable and a nice back-up plan if we are unable to land a big fish in the free agent market.

Calerdon would really eat into the cap space but at least his $10 million is only through the 2013 season and would be a great expiring contract for that summer. But still, we can have a lot of cap space in the summer of 2012, why trade just to move it a year later?

I would LOVE Rondo, but who do we offer? I don't think a Batum/Williams package gets it done.

I'd rather see the Blazers get a young guy like Calderon out of Toronto. He's a decent shooter, but looks to pass first and is an excellent passer. I have heard his name brought up a couple of times in articles. He's got a lot of talent and would push the tempo to what the team wants.

We can make all the moves we want in the end as long as Nate coaching this team we will have the same results I'm really convinced that the leaders on this team have turn a deaf ear on him the team reflects their coach and this is not a Coach Nate team this team needs to hear a new voice we all know this team is better than what we see now and i'm not saying don't make trades to make our team better but, I don't think trades will turn things around.

I just heard this rumor about a trade between LA Portland and Minnesota

    Lakers get: PG Raymond Felton

                      SF  Michael Beasley

    T'Wolves get: SG Jamal Crawford

                         SF Metta World Peace

                         SF Luke Walton

    Blazers get: PG Luke Ridnour

                      SG Wesley Johnson

I think I like the deal more if we get maybe a second round pick from the Lakers, but this works on the trade machine

WAIT, after giving this some thought, with trading felton and crawford away, the Blazers are shaving even more salaries. Perhaps they are looking to sign Deron Williams, Steve Nash, or Aaron Brooks over the summer. Ridnour would be an amazing backup to one of these three PGs and our problem at that position would definitely be solved for next season. However, Larry Miller said he still wants the Blazers in the playoffs this season and by getting just Ridnour in return, i dont see how that works out. Confused. Anyone seeing my thought process?

Felton and Crawford for Wes Johnson and Luke Ridnour? Just toooooo much additional salary being taken on. And really, no chance of good picks being thrown our way. The Wolves don't have the rights to their 2012 1st Rounder and the Lakers' will be in the mid-twenties.

    More from Hoopsworld regarding Crawford-
The Portland Trail Blazers may look to move Crawford at some point over the next ten days. Sources close to the situation say that Crawford will opt-out of the final year of his contract to test free agency this summer. Rather than losing him for nothing this offseason, Portland may decide to deal him. The Clippers are among the teams expressing the most interest in Crawford, along with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Los Angeles tried to sign-and-trade for Crawford during the offseason, but the Atlanta Hawks didn’t want to take back any contracts.

We gotta trade away for 1st round picks!! Then draft the likes of Austin Rivers and Cody Zeller for picks in between 10~15th. One from John Henson, Kendall Marshall, Jeremy Lamb could easily fall to 10th.

One of these players will be traded: Wallace, Felton,or Crawford. Why? They all have either expiring contracts or will opt out after this season, so they will be moved so the blazers can get something in return. In return I want to see draft pick(s), preferably first round, or young players, like Brandon Jennings or Jrue Holliday. I feel like this year, unlike the past two years, a trade is almost guaranteed.

In my opinion, we can afford to trade away a shooting guard or two. Batum seems like he can play the 2 and 3. Elliot appears to be ready for stardom *knock on wood*. And that's really all we need if we're serious about developing both. Crawford can easily opt out next year as well so there's no guaranteeing he'll be back.

How about taking a real long shot and stay put this year so we can free up about 25+ million in cap room. Then re-sign Batum and go after Dwight Howard and D. Williams.

    PG - D Williams
    SG - Matthews
    C - Superman
    SF - Batum
    PF - LA

    Bench

    SG - Crawford
    PG - Nolan
    C - Joel / Chris Johnsom
    SF - Elliot
    PF - Kurt Thomas

You would have to do a few fill-ins and maybe change a couple spots on the bench but the starting 5 would make us instant contenders. Elliot can play shooting guard if you need to let crawford go for extra money.

First, this would never ever happen. D Wills and D12 want to be in big cities to get endorsements, not portland. If Howard was traded here he would be gone by the summer anyways and probably go to the Lakers. Second, we would have to trade at least 4 or 5 players to make room for that cap space (which would have to include both LA and Batum). And third, what we need is a point guard that can run this team, and a coach that will let him do his job. LA and Batum are our building blocks right now but as we've seen, we need more than just an extremely talented front court to win basketball games consistently. We also have many expiring contracts after this year: Felton's gone, Camby's gone, Crawford and Wallace both have player options. Let's get what we can from these guys before we can get nothing.

The way I see it, next year our starting 5 will look something like this:

PG - whoever we trade to get or sign in FA
SG - E Wills (as long as coach lets him play)
    SF - Batum
    PF - LA
C - Przybilla (Camby will either get traded or he'll leave by next year, good riddance I say)

    Bench

    PG - N. Smith
SG - Mathews (he's proven to be a much better bench player than a starter)
SF - Wallace (maybe, but I'm thinking we'll get someone in a trade)
    PF - Rhino
    C - C. Johnson

We have a lot of youth with a lot of potential. Nate's just too stubborn to use it.

Vance, I think you let go of wallace and matthews and go after a FA SG/SF like O.J Mayo, Jason Terry, or Ray Allen to be a spark off the bench who knows their only role is to score off bench. However, that didnt seem to work too well with Crawford. But I dont like the idea of keeping almost the same team for next year. Wallace's contract will be far overpriced for someone who in this scenario would be on the bench. Matthews has really dissapointed and might have just had a lucky season last year. Those two need to be traded away.
And then you've got a huge problem at center. Johnson and Pryz wont get us deep in playoffs at all.

I agree that Wallace will be asking for way too much, and we are already overpaying for Mathews. But Wes has really broken out in the last couple of games coming off the bench, so I think thats where he should be. Wallace doesn't seem to want to stay here anyways, and if he does, he doesn't show it. Sure he knocked over a trash can a week ago but why isn't he doing that after every loss? I also agree that we're gonna be a little shallow at the 5 but Pryz is the best defender in the paint we've seen all season and sets some of the best picks I've seen in my life. IMO he's only going to improve, until his age catches up with him. Chris Johnson showed serious potential in the playoffs last year and will most likely develop into a fine player if he's given some playing time. LA is a good backup 5 when we need him to be, and we still have Kurt Thomas for another year also.

The way I see it, Crawford and Wallace will both be gone at the end of the season, and I don't see them resigning Camby and Felton either. This will be an almost completely different team next year. We don't need a bunch of trades, we have the talent, they just never see the court.

What this team needs is a top veteran point guard. To win in this league you need a "big three" and right now we are working only with a big 1 1/2. LA is 1 and Batum is the half so everyone should be on the block in order to get a awesome point guard.

DIME Magazine lists the Trail Blazers as THE top team that needs to make a trade at the deadline. Here's what they wrote:
That said, when you have a beast at the four-spot in LaMarcus Aldridge, every decision made should be based on who can flourish with him the most for the years to come. Just barely making the playoffs this year shouldn’t be their focus, but rather how can they elevate into a championship contender with Aldridge as the cornerstone.
Aldridge is just getting his due by making his first All-Star appearance. When the greatest scorer of all-time, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, comes out and says the following – “I know there’s one guy that posts up the same way that I used to. He plays for Portland: LaMarcus Aldridge” – there isn’t much better praise than that. The Blazers must assure themselves that their foundation isn’t squandered within a middling team as he enters his prime.
Blake Griffin and Kevin Love are at the top of the “best power forward in the game” discussion. But the common denominator they both have? A great point guard. Now why can’t LaMarcus Aldridge be afforded the same necessity, especially when he’s gradually without a primetime PG?
The Blazers couldn’t come to terms to extend Nicolas Batum, which means they don’t think that highly of his skill-set and can make him expendable. When a top-five point guard like Rondo is on the market, how can the Blazers not pounce on the opportunity to pair him up with L.A.? The ball is on the Blazers’ court to drastically change the fortunes of a franchise that’s struck out of luck for far too long.

The Crawford for Luke Ridnour is beginning to heat up, but according to Dwight Jaynes this is a very minor trade compared what the blazers have in mind as a first option, probably for a pont guard. Wonder what that could be.... Mentioned Rondo Nash and Calderon

Or Wallace and Crawford for Calderon.I'll throw in Felton if we can have DeMar Derozan too. Id keep L.A. , Batum, Nolan & E.Will,Pryz, and throw everything left at Boston for Rondo.
I am a fan of our new roster playing with and for eachother.

Just an idea and wanted to throw it out there

Celtics get: Gerald Wallace, Mo Williams, Jamal Crawford, Brian Cook

Blazers get: Rajon Rondo, Jermaine O'neal, Mickael Pietrus

Clippers get: Ray Allen, Kurt Thomas

Works well for all teams in trade machine

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Thank God they are 19 games over 500.  Mayb...

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
