Nicolas Batum might be the first player to start more than half of his teams games as a rookie then sent back overseas to develop his game. Maybe the Blazers will send him to the D-league. I just don't see any chance of him getting any minutes if we add Hedo (and if the Blazers don't make any other moves).

I believe there will be a move to make room for Batum to play.  He is too good of a defender and has way too much potential to be sent to a lesser league.  I hate to say it but I think that Webster or Outlaw will be the odd man out.  Unless we use Roy/Rudy at the point when steve goes out, and then Webster could be in at two, and then Batum could play 3 with Outlaw at 4.  But then that would leave Bayless out.  I think they didn't sign a pg because they are gonna give Bayless a true chance to show Rip City what he is made of.  But more than likely I will predict that Webster or Outlaw is out.

I hope they find room for Batum also.  I hate to say it because I've stood up for Outlaw so many times on here but I think he should be the odd man out.  I don't think he fits in very well with the other players on the team and he could help out another team more than he does the Blazers.  I love the way Batum plays and hope he can stay and continue to get playing time.

I would rather see Webster go than Outlaw, because we still need a back up at 4.  But I dont think anybody will take Webster because nobody got to see him play last year.  But Batum is definately my fave next to Roy.  He never gives up on a play.  He even chased down Lebron on a fast break.  How many can say they have done that?

i'm a big nic batum fan. he definitely needs more minutes. and as much as i hate saying it, i think dad (trav) has to go. but i don't think we need to be as active in this free agency period as a lot of people think. i like to think we had all the pieces last year, just needed time to grow as a team. once oden comes into himself we're golden.

I agree people act like if we don't make a move, this season is going to be identical to the one previous, but thats just simply not true. we gained a lot through last season, including valuable playoff experience.

but besides the experience, our team did get a chance to grow together, and learn their team mates little playing intricacies that will make this team great.

basically you add chemistry, experience, knowledge, and martell webster to a team that won 54 games last year and tied for 3rd in the west. 54 games.

David... It was a 3 way tie for 2nd! And even if next season is identical to this season, we would still be in a good spot in the playoffs.  But the team will be more hungry and they will advance no matter what seed, or who they play next year.

We might have ended up tied for 2nd this year, but with the additions San Antonio has made, the L*kers, we never could beat Denver, etc. this season is NOT going to be as easy as you all think. Yeah we won 54 games, but a lot of those were kinda lucky & a lot of that had to do with injuries to other teams. We got fairly lucky this year with the injury bug. I know Martell missed the whole year, but we didn't have too many injuries this year in comparison to other teams. I'd be happy with 54 wins this year though.

As for Batum, there's no way he's going back overseas. Where did you hear that? I mean, he's working with the French National team. As for Hedo, thank god he didn't come here. The one thing we didn't need was a guy who couldn't shoot spot up shots and needed the ball in his hands to create something. I think if Martell can actually get healthy and not be injured for the whole season, he could be the exact thing we were missing last year.

Look at it this way Blazer fans, we might have not gotten Jerkyglue, but we're essentially getting a FA SF in Martell. I like him better anyway, Martell can actually hit a spot up 3.

I am a fan of this team. Here's to hoping for a healthy season!!!

Batum will not go anywhere.  We need him too much.  I'm for one am glad that Hedo changed his mind because we didn't need someone who did not want to win a championship on our team.  The way I see it, if we kept everything the same from last year we would be good, but the organization is looking to be great.  And in order to get to the next level, I think we at least need a veteran PG.  Going after Lee seems not at all logical right now with the way LaMarcus is as a player.  We need a scrub to come in and clean the glass and play defense when LaMarcus isn't in.  I WANT ANDRE MILLER and PAUL MILSAP!!  But if we need to trade then we could get rid of Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake to get Tayshaun Prince or a sturdy PG who we could use for the at least the next four years.

I agree we dont need lee for the money he is asking but you cannot say that Paul Milsap is a scrub. I think that Milsap is as good if not better than lee. when boozer was gone he was playing at an allstar level and i think if he gets the minutues he can be better than lee. he also says he wants just as much as lee according to his agent. i think he would be amazing on this team but unless we can get him for less than 7 mill he isnt worth it.

A lot of teams get "lucky". It's part of the game.  The Blazers got what they deserved this season.  Sure, it took coming from behind about 20 times and 6 or 7 game willing shots from Travis and another few from Roy, but that's what great teams on the fringe do-- whatever it takes to win the game. This season could be a little tougher, but you also have to keep in mind we've got Roy, LA, Oden, Rudy, and Batum with another year under their belts.  Those 5 will show growth this year, and it will be amazing to watch.  Batum is focusing on offense this off-season.  I'm quite looking forward to that.  He'll be a double double machine in a year or 2 averaging 3 blocks and 3 steals per game.  Just watch!
