Trail Blazers (12-9) vs. Bobcats (3-18)

There may be no better remedy in the NBA right now than the Charlotte Bobcats. Charlotte is a league-worst 3-18 on the season. has lost eight consecutive games by an average of 12.6 points, and has just one road win on the season. Now while the Trail Blazer seem invincible in front of the Rose Garden faithful, now is not the time to take any team lightly. We all saw the Wizards stun the Thunder earlier this month and in this league, anything can happen. But the big news of the day is the results of Nicolas Batum's MRI. He is out against the Bobcats and likely the next night in Sacramento with a left knee bone contusion. With him out, that means there are 20-30 minutes up for grabs. Who will get them? Who should get them?

Coach McMillan said the three guys in line to see more court action due to this injury are Craig Smith, Elliot Williams, and Luke Babbitt. Babbitt can play either the three or four. Smith is a solid power forward. And Elliot appears to be a strict shooting guard at the moment. Versatility wise, Luke may be the beneficiary here, but if the guards aren't hitting you better believe Coach will want to see what Elliot can bring from the outside. He's shown the ability to score in garbage time, but can he do it when it counts? That's the million dollar question.

Bobcats won't be happy after getting trounced by the Lakers last night. Expect Charlotte to play with some gumtion against the Blazers.

im not worried it's a home game, i bet we loose 3 games at home all season since the guys actually try. it would be nice to get that effort on the road, we may not be at the arena, but we are still watching on TV fellas... this team has no excuse to be battling for 8th seed IMO we should be fighting for home court in the top 4.

Dont let kemba score, and diaw to get going and this should be a blow out, and i expect E williams to get more minutes and a bit more for the rhino because recently hes been a little effective (except the loss at utah)

This is true, but we are essentially in both battles since all of THREE games seperate SECOND and TENTH in the west at this point in time. Out here, you have to win and do it constantly in order to make the playoffs, unlike the east where if you are 400. this year you will get in!

    *Update*

Portland F Craig Smith (viral infection) is questionable for tonight's game vs Charlotte and will be a game-time decision.

i really hope nate goes with williams, the guy has been shooting great in garbage time id like to see what he's made of. babbit has already proven he can't hit a shot unless he's in a stampede jersey or it's for chalupas.

true, i should have said we should be fighting with OKC for the #1. i dont see why we should have more than 5 losses right now. we've lost too many winnable games already.

I think I'm gonna pass on this game it's going to be the same old same old when we play a bad team at home we start slow Crash has a good 1st qtr. the Bobcats stay in the game until 5 mins left in the second qtr. and we pull away alittle them the second half we destroy them the young guys get playing time and the player of the game has the interview and we hear how everyone had a look at themselves in the mirror and that they will do better on the road so wake me up when we go back on the road because that what seperate the good from the elite.

    Some stats for you:

Ray Felton was an astounding +41 on the night. His counterpart, Kemba Walker was a -36!

Tonight was first time the Blazers won back 2 back home games by at least 30 points since: 1/26/78 vs Nets 112-77 & 1/29/78 vs Rockets 123-88

Portland has outscored their opponents by at least 38 points in consecutive home games for the first time in team history (Elias).

Overall, I thought E-Will performed as expected. He had his moments definitely, but his defense was average and didn't really look to shoot outside. But the potential is there. One play that really stood out was his drive from the top of the ye where he spun to the left side of the basket and nearly finished it home with a two-hand slam. I really think he has a role on THIS team THIS year because he's our only guard who can take the ball to the hole with explosiveness.

    Post-Game Quotes:

Nate McMillan on Ray & Gerald playing against their former team:
“Well we talked about it before the game and Coach Bernie mentioned that he hoped that Gerald doesn’t be too hyped up. Gerald was hyped up but I thought he played solid. He was aggressive on both ends of the floor, making solid plays. Raymond was good. We talked about the point guard setting the tempo. We can run off of makes and I felt like the last few games, we’ve been walking the ball down the floor. And even on makes, we can get the ball down the floor and get into our offense a little early. Tonight, we forced misses which led to some transition, which is the tempo we wanted to play.”
Jamal Crawford on shooting better lately:
“Actually, I’ve been feeling really good lately. I just have been looking at tape from the beginning of the season of how I was shooting to now. Nothing’s really changed honestly, I think I’m in better condition that I was at the beginning of the season”
Gerald Wallace on if he felt sorry for the Bobcats:
“Not at all. Personally, I wanted to keep going, I didn’t even want to come out of the game. It stings. It’s one of those things where, like I said last year around this time, I didn’t feel like I was traded, I felt like I was stabbed in the back. This was my first opportunity to really get a chance to play against them. You get that out of the way and you move forward.”

i realize the bobcats suck but if the blazers play like this every night they don't loose very often.

Got to see this live. Came down from Alaska and this was the only game scheduled during my time here. My nephew got me great seats in the club section. Got to honestly say cant lose too many games shooting 57% and 13 steals 10 blocked shots? Had a great time glad we stuck it too Jordan

I would LOVE to see Oden on this team!!!

    BUT

Remember when Jammal Crawford said that Brandon Roy was full healthy again??

    also, imagine

    Damian, Roy, Batum, Lamarcus, Oden

Thanks Ricky.   I''ll be watching @ 10.   Haven''t seen enough right hand from Shazamm.   Without the ability to take his defender either way off the bounce, let alone finish at the cup with either hand?   Second rounder at best.

Sug81 I love Iggy but this team has numerous gaping holes throughout the depth chart so signing Iggy is not the best way to spend our limited funds
