We have to try hard to get crawford with the MLE!! We need to put the wheels in motion to get him, and bring him here before the knicks work out a crazy stupid deal to get him!

What this jumpshooting team lacks, and has lacked, since Roy's availability first became unpredictable...is a player WHO CAN CREATE WITH THE BOUNCE.  I am all in for ANY move bringing ANY player here who possesses that particular skill.  Ideally, that player may already be on the roster, with the offseason work both Wesley and Nic have reportedly logged.  I am anxious to see EW as well.

I'm confused about interest in Josh Howard.  It seems clear to me that we need either a 5 (Pryz please) or a 2 (Crawford please) to finish our roster.  Why would we go after a fading 3 like Howard?

What is our available cash to sign a free agent?  Does anyone know?  What is a Mini and how does it effect available money?  I have always liked Jamal Crawford but I am not sure what it would take to get him.

There's certainly some level of expectation for Oden to take the 5 spot on the floor, and Camby/Aldridge/Kurt Thomas/Barron/Christ Johnson (I'm sure some of these guys will be cut, most likely Barron and/or Johnson) to move around between the 4 and 5 (Barron IS a 5, but certainly not great). I haven't seen anyone really express an understanding of the type of money that's still available for the Blazers to use on free agents, so it's hard for me to determine whether signing a guy like Josh Howard would keep them from signing another guy after him, or at least making some trade moves.

The problem with Pryz is that he doesn't know whether he wants to play this season or retire, and there have been statements floating around making it sound like he really wants to take his time in deciding. So, I think the Blazers are trying to start off the shortened season with a full roster of guys who they know are willing to play.

David Aldridge is also reporting the Blazers are one of four teams in pursuit of Reggie Williams-
The Bobcats, Raptors, Trail Blazers and Rockets are the four teams in hottest pursuit of unrestricted free agent swingman Reggie Williams, according to a league source. Williams became unrestricted over the weekend when his former team, the Warriors, rescinded its qualifying offer to him in order to clear room for a four-year, $43 million offer sheet Golden State made to Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers matched the sheet on Jordan Monday.

Haha, when I read how much Kwame got, I spit my coffee out. Makes me think that I could play center. No way in hell is Kwame worth that much....makes me sick to think about it...kinda the same way I felt about Oden's 8.9.

I think the Blazers are ready for a serious playoff run in two moves:
    1) Crawford OR Reggie Williams (preferably Crawford)
    2) Joel Pryzbilla

That gives us all the depth we need at all the positions, and solid team balance and chemistry.  We'd need to waive Barron and probably Ngombo (still on our roster), and amnesty Brandon or get injury exception.  I think that's the answer and that makes us a competitor now versus playing the rebuild card and waiting 4 years for results.

    Thoughts?

I agree with you. Crawford would fill up the points that Brandon got us and you can't go wrong with Joel. And plus, I got to agree with the columns about this short schedule being brutal on the older teams. All those back to backs and back to back to backs will kill teams like dallas, and such. Young teams like us and Oklahoma will probably be in the top 5 in western conference...but thats just my feeling about it.

Blazers have reportedly offered Jamal Crawford a starting spot at the two guard if he signs with the team, meaning the lineup would consist of:
    PG- Felton
    SG- Crawford
    SF- Wallace
    PF- Aldridge
    C- Camby
with Wesley and Nic coming off the bench. Pretty good starting five if you ask me.

@abarrer3 that sounds like a legit line-up to me.  Smith backing up 1, Wesley at 2, Nic at 3, Thomas at 4, C. Johnson at 5.  That's a deep team full of talent.

Crawford's a Twitter fiend.  Get on there and show him some love, let's get him leaning toward Rip City.

Crawford is now down to the Kings nad Blazers, but it looks like his mom wants Portland-

So now it's the Blazers or the Kings. Sacramento is a bit more crowded and would probably present a lot of issues for sharing the basketball with other willing shooters. With Brandon Roy now retired, the Blazers would make a lot of sense as Crawford could become one of the primary scorers.

And in addition to that, his mom wants Portland. And mama always knows best!

I am probably in the minority but I see a large hole at backup power forward so I would propose a trade that would send Batum and a first rounder to Utah for Paul Milsap.  This would provide us with added flexibilty.
