Jerryd Bayless started in all 8 of the Toronto Raptors games in April.

In 37.9 minutes a game he averaged:

    22.5 PPG
    3 REB
    5.6 AST
    1.1 STL
48.4% Shooting, 41.2% beyond the arch.

We sure could have used his energy in the playoffs.

You have to take into consideration the team he was on, the teams they played, and the fact they a point gaurd that plays 38 minutes should probably be getting more assists. I don't think his team was very involved during that 8 game stint.

We need someone like a Bayless or Travis Outlaw off of our bench. Brandon Roy is our playmaker, but we need someone whose mindset is set to score, score and score some more. What did Dallas do when they got in trouble? They went to their bench and let the Jet operate. We need buckets off of the bench. Those types of players are a dying breed though. It just doesn't seem like many of them exist anymore.

no no no, you have take into consideration that Jerryd played very good in the playoffs for us last season, and we traded him for a bag of chips.

Hard to blame Cho for making the trade. We just signed Matthews, had a 3 time all-star in Brandon Roy and Andre Miller running the show. Right there, we had our rotation down. And we can't forget that no one would take Rudy because he said he would bolt to Spain. So there's 4 guards and not much time available.

I do think he would have helped, but he needs minutes and he wouldn't have got them here. He's the type of player who must get into a rhythm to make his impact felt. Unfortunately, I thought he could have been our future point guard, since he can create his own shot, but alas, that won't be happening.

This team will not advance in the playoffs without a reliable bench. If we don't upgrade our bench, it will be one and done again. Make it happen Cho!

I think people are forgetting that the pick we obtained when we traded Bayless was the main piece in the Crash trade. If we keep Bayless, we don't get Wallace. Would you rather have that? Hell no. It was the right move. Cho knows exactly what he's doing

Im not buying that we couldnt have made the wallace trade without that pick from the bayless trade. We may have had to give up an extra pick or two but Paul Allen isn't about to let this team be blown up to the point where we would need those picks anyway.

But we may not have had those picks to trade in the first place... or at least not at the time

We had two picks too offer Charlotte, ours and the one from New Orleans via the Bayless deal. Considering our pick is #21 and the pick they received ended up being #19, I can't see that being a deal breaker or something that a 2nd rounder couldn't have fixed. So I don't think there is logic in the "We used THAT pick to get Wallace" argument.

Do you think they would have accepted the trade if we offered the exact same package but instead of the #19 pick we put in a second rounder? I really don't think they would. There is a big difference between a top 20 first round pick and a late second rounder

    can i get an amen?

cheesus. that whole horrid deal is now coming back to of course, bite this team in the ___.
everyone was so super stoked / or slightly okay / or incredibly angry at this trade because the hornets. well lets face it they were never thought to of been going to the playoffs, but i think  just maybe, maybe it effects the quality of draft pick that this team gets from them.

i think it can be said without a doubt, that andre could of used some help in the playoffs and if Bayless was still on the team, after this interesting year of player developmental, im sure would of helped, might even matched the speed with JJ Berea

Sometimes, it's more about FIT than ABILITY.  Don't forget, NO traded Jerryd this season after having acquired him from Portland.  NO also was dismissed in the first round, winning only two games.  Wonder if they're questioning their move?

Whatever the arguments here, I liked Bayless and respected his tireless work ethic.  I'm glad he's found a home and a place where he is able to contribute.

I for one am GLAD that Bayless and Outlaw are gone.  Their combined basketball IQ is probably a quarter of anyone else's IQ on the team.  My most vivid memories of those two were turnovers, poor shot selection, and offensive fouls (mostly Bayless).  I'm glad KP and Cho realized that the benefits these players provided did not outweigh their faults.  If the Blazers still had Bayless, that comeback in game 4 would NOT have happened, even if he was on the bench during the fourth.  However, it really wouldn't matter if he was on the roster or not, because either way I don't see the Blazers ever being the 1-4 seed, which is the only way we could ever get out of the first round (home court advantage).

With the Veteran skills of Andre that allowed us to trade bayless. Besides Armon Johnson and Patty mills can give you that same energy that bayless once did. As the 8games for bayless in toronto you can put just about anyone in a raptor jersey and they will look like a star player because toronto has no go to guy.

oh dude, cmon dont be such a hater.

    hahah
i feel as if this team not only lost their a good chunk of their bench with those guys but it was the start of its roster falling to pieces

but the blazers need to play without their home court. they cant be so dependent on its fans, they need to play within themselves or have the players meet with some psych counselor to find out whats goin on yo

@DHawes22: I'm glad Outlaw is gone.  I'd take Bayless back, but only if we keep vet Andre Miller while Bayless continues to develop.  I'm a fan of bringing J. Pendergraph back.  I like Chris Johnson, I think he's a baller; but I feel that hard foul on Nowitzke blew it for him in game 6...Nate never used him again. (I think he only played 4:40 or so) We should keep Elliot Williams, I'd like to see what he might offer us...I'm indifferent to B. Roy @ this point, I don't think he makes or breaks this team anymore...LaMarcus, Crash & Wesley stay (that's a given) and I think Rudy, Patty and Armond need to be traded.  Batum?  I dunno...he was MIA a whole bunch during this playoff and we need to find us a sharp shooter, for real...and Lord, please give us a healthy and productive Greg Oden for 2011-2012!!!
PS> Can the team practice free throws in the off season??? All those missed free throws against Dallas in the first round were killing me!!!
