Which Trail Blazer is most likely to bounce back in Game Two?
    Gerald Wallace (34)
     60%
    Brandon Roy (1)
     2%
    Wesley Matthews (6)
     11%
    All Will Dominate (16)
     28%

After giving up Game One 89-81, the pressure now has shifted into the Trail Blazers' corner. Portland will look to get back at it Tuesday night at 6:30 pm and in order to get the all important split, they must find a way to get more out of Wesley Matthews & Gerald Wallace. In the first half of Game One, those two were 0-6 from the floor. Wallace picked it up in the second half, scoring 8, but he never seemed to be 100% comfortable out there, while Wesley finished with only 2 points on 1-3 shooting in 19 minutes. Chalk it up to first game jitters for Gerald and early foul trouble for Matthews. One player who had no jitters and continued his torrid play against Dallas was LaMarcus Aldridge who posted 27 points and 6 rebounds. And despite shooting uncharacteristically bad from 3 (2-16) and at the foul line (9-13) Portland still held a 72-66 lead midway through the 4th. With that all said, it took a 24 point night (9-14 FG, 6-10 From 3) from Jason Kidd to get the Mavericks over the hump.

Speaking of Kidd, he was the one Maverick, I knew we had to stop. As he goes, Dallas goes. At times, I felt the closeouts were too slow on him, leaving him wide open with his feet set. Most of their shooters can't shoot off the bounce, so we must make sure we close out and make them uncomfortable when they shoot. On a positive note, I really love how we defended Dirk all game long. He was frustrated up until the last few minutes when he got to the line. We threw Batum, Wallace, and LA at him and he really didn't get an open look all game. Nowitzki only shot 7-20 from the field, but did most of his damage at the foul line, shooting 13-13 at the charity stripe. Another interesting stat to look at is assists. Portland had 22 team hand outs compared to 14 from Dallas. To me, this shows that the Mavs went one-on-one a lot of hit a lot of jump shots. You can live by the jumper and die by it. Tonight, they lived by it.

Defensively, I'd like to see Portland do much of the same outside of leaving Kidd open on rotations. Holding them to 89 points on their home floor will get it done more times than not and that was with them shooting 10-19 from downtown. On offense, we must not stray away from Aldridge and Miller on the block. Each player has a decided advantage down low and can score at will or create if the double team comes. Also, we must get Wesley off to a quick start and get more out of Brandon Roy. He is too good, even with bum knees, to shoot 1-7 and not get to the foul line. Post him up and let him go to work. If those things happen and the Blazers get more solid play from Rudy & Batum and Camby keeps controlling the glass (18 rebounds), the Trail Blazers will leave Dallas all tied up at one game a piece.

We Will Win Game 2. Game 1 just proved to me that this is our series to win and we just let Game 1 slip away, to be honest I was happy even after the loss because I know we will bounce back and win Game 2 let go get it.

Agree with CarlJ1.  This was a positive loss.  We saw what Dallas can do, and we defended them very well.  No one except Kidd was open.  But it was the foul line that killed us.  It was just a good game ruined by poor officials.  I know and you know that G-Dubb and Wesley will step up next time.  I love Roy, but he doesn't deserve to play 25 minutes, even though I think he's a great passer that can set the team up.

It took Kidd shooting 6-10 from 3 (24 pts total), Dirk going 13-13 from the line (the majority in the 4th quarter) and an overall +17 in the free throw department in the 4th quarter for Dallas to beat us AT HOME where we shot 2-16 from 3, get only 4 combined points from Wesley & Brandon, and only 4-13 shooting from Gerald Wallace. Take a moment and let that sink in. It took all of that for Dallas to beat us. Play our game in Game Two, get normal production from Matthews & Wallace & close out on Kidd and we're looking at a 1-1 series heading back to the Rose City.

Remember, the playoffs are as much about adjustments from game to game as they are about match-ups.  If it is true, that Portland's defensive schemes were responsible for Dallas' uncharacteristicly poor FG%, expect them to attempt to adjust.  As much as I expect GW and Wesley to bounce back, so too do I expect 'The Jet' and Dirk to do the same.  I look for this second game to be less of a "feeling out" game and more of a offensive slugfest.  I like Nate's strategy defensively in game one and wouldn't change much there.  In fact, I would dare Kidd to shoot the long ball.  I especially like Nate's post-game comments with regard to the free throw disparity and do see a fine coming also.  The game within the game...the fine, well worth it.  In this second game, the Blazers will not only need their usual production from starters Matthews and Wallace, they are going to need someone from the bench to heavily contribute.  I look for Nic to be that guy.  GO BLAZERS!

My main concern going into the game is Portland being more timid on defense because of the fourth quarter officiating in the first meeting.  I feel great about the match-up.  I feel less than great about the amount of officiating being done in every game so far.  This has to be some kind of record for FTs attempted in the first two days of the first round.  Spurs went to the line 47 times today.  JUST LET THEM PLAY!!!

And don't forget that DEN-OKC Game how do you miss an offense interference call when it's point blank that he had his hands in the net when the ball was still on the rim that cost DEN a chance to win Game 1, but all an all we had pretty good playoff games these two days and it's telling me that it's going to be a changing of the guard.

Thank you Herr!  I've never been one to make excuses, especially where it comes to blaming officials, but this clip leaves little doubt (even for me).  Where I have issues is with accountability.  In order for enough attention to be drawn to such a poorly officiated sample of basketball to justify a possible review, a coach has to get fined by the league and lose income on top of losing a game.  Seems to be something wrong with that.  With there being no accountability, and that not even being a concern of the league, conspiracy theories are bound to be plentiful.  ACCOUNTABILITY!  The same accountability that all of us are held to with OUR jobs.

Most revealing clip I've ever watched, and to think that all happened not only in the same GAME...in the same HALF?!  Inexcusable.

Every year at playoff time we get into the talk about the refs and their bad calls or missed calls - It gets old fast. I think we should stop thinking that calling a NBA game is an objective, truth filled, black and white issue. It isn't it is highly subjective and perspective bound. This fact sucks, but it seems to be true. I think the calls will even out if we continue to play our game.

I feel we will dominate tonight in Dallas 113 to 94. I don't think they can get the same contribution from Jason Kidd, who gave Dallas the win by keeping them close all game 1.

That video says it all. Thank you to whoever made it and I hope all the NBA see's that. It's funny because a day ago I thought about making a similar video because I was so mad but decided too much time to do it. And then, Nate gets fined...how ridiculous! This tape proves what happened and how the game was lost.

On another note, we just need to get back to our game...the same game that got us where we are. As I have said, as much as I love BRoy he cannot and should not play that amount of minutes again. He is only needed to help control the team while others get rest. He is physically not able to carry this team right now. I know Wes got the two quick fouls (wonder how that happened???) but he never got a chance to get back into the game and that could easily effect the way Wallace played because they are use to being on the floor together.

Patty should be in there also to give some rest time. He pushes the game and makes things happen...basically, he attacks and that is what we need. Oh, and yes, Kidd had a great game which we don't expect to see again, but remember Shawn had an off game so watch out there!!!

    peace out,
    daddy

Kenny c. -  I tend to agree with you for the most part... Could we have put ourselves in position during the 3rd Quarter that wouldn't prevent an ending like we saw.  Of course we could have.  But the facts is, we still had a lead and watched a string of bad calls and no calls chip away at the lead and hand momentum over to Dallas.

You cannot say this was subjectivity or perspective... or else it would have been called the same way for the entire game... not a drastic change during the 4th quarter... and it would have been called on both ends of the court.  Even subjectivity and perspective have some level of consistency.

Having said that, we can't have 4 key players basically pull a no show and expect to win a game.  We were fortunate to have players like L-Train and Dre who know how to step up when it is needed.

Tonight is going to be a great game... and it would have been a great victory even without Joey Crawford's crew in the Big-D.

Dude if it werent for these guys the blazers would be hanging out with the cavs and the timberwolves right now.
all it has been in Aldridge and he gets most if not all of his feeds from Dre.
Wesley Matthews as well, but he has yet to play ball in these playoffs.
The blazers would be oh so fortunate to have players who were able to step it up when the time is needed.....

Where is Batum? The guy closes out his season with like 5 20 pt games and he is still thowing up more 3's than Durant does jumpers.....
He is a potential Role player, his additions will turn this series around.

Broy - he looked fresh in his movements but 1-7 says more than his footwork. I wish Brandon didnt baby it when he knows what he is capable of doing with his body...

Fernandez- a guy who when he plays., gives it his all, running around another potential Role player.

The blazers offense is like a nightmare re run from Nick at Night. Its the same guys, the same plays, and they encounter the same problems. They are playing inside the box and Dallas is also the epitome of inside the box as well, not to mention they are old and slow, yet portland is allowing themselves to get beat tonight.

oh and bdawg, good call on Jason Kidd not hitting 6 three's in game 2, he just hit everything else........

I'm sure I am not the only one asking this question but here goes: Where the HELL is Brandon Roy? The undisputed leader of this team for the last five years and he doesn't come off the bench in the fourth quarter? Doesn't score at all in the game? This stinks of a fix from the top (DAVID STERN) all the way down to the guy who sells hot dogs. Why don't you just show reruns of the last two years playoff runs and have done with it. Brandon Roy, time to earn your 86 million.

Well this was just an example of when one guy gets help and another one doesn't 11 to 39 bench scoring our starters can only do so much and also it seem that dallas has a time machine and Peja and Kidd jumped right in and got replace with Peja of the Kings and Kidd of the Nets it's also plain to see that Brandon is done this year i just don't see the confidence and everything we get here on out from him is a bonus I feel for him hopefully home cooking will get us in the right direction Go Blazers.

the blazers are messing up big time.
this whole season is going to waste and so far its been these two games > the whole season....

To not expect the 3rd and 4th all time leaders in 3pt baskets made, to not expect them to show up in the playoffs, is retarded and is a good way to end your season fast.
Dallas was on the verge of breaking in Game 1. The media was all over them and how they cant win games in the playoffs, that is unless the play Portland.

Some of you may feel as if Portland doesnt get taken seriously by the league, maybe even a good comic relief at times.....well these two games are why.

For those who some how want to blame Brandon Roy for this, hold your breath and ask yourself what B Roy did this season to help the team get to where they are?
Nothing he lost his meniscus, to have him even up and moving is a blessing but if he keeps playing its just going to shorten his career and effect you even more next season. Brandon roy is not responsible, its the Starters or LAck of that are costing this team its victories.

The blazers know how to play hard and beat teams that are better than them, unfortunately for dallas, they are not a better team than Portland, The blazers are just letting them be.

i mean what the F is going on?
