Preview: Third Series Win Keeps Happy Times Rolling
The Trail Blazers have won eight of the last 10 matchups against the Spurs, including Friday’s 98-96 win at the Rose Garden, where Nicolas Batum completed an alley-oop from Andre Miller to beat the buzzer with 0.9 seconds left.

Just three days removed from stealing one against the Spurs, Portland heads to San Antonio for the second-half of a back-to-back. Injuries could play a large role in determining the outcome of the game as Tim Duncan still hasn't been cleared to play after sustaining his ankle injury and tonight in Memphis, Manu Ginobili left the game with a right quad contusion. For Portland, Batum suffered something similar to Manu, but was well enough to play in the 2nd half. But Brandon Roy was experiencing back spasms and isn't sure if he'll give it a go or not.

Although the Spurs have dropped three in a row, they have all been on the road. At home, they are nails, posting a 33-3 record, easily the tops in the League. If Manu and TD don't go, Portland must trap, double, fluster, or do whatever it takes to get Tony Parker out of rhythm. He killed us last game in the first half by driving inside. Also, I'd like to see us play more of a inside game instead of attempting so many 3's. Play though LA, find Wallace slashing and we must get more bench production from Rudy, Roy and Marcus. Look out for Patty Mills getting in on the action, esp. on the back to back. He could be the X-Factor.

If the big 3 don't play, there is no excuse to not winning.  We could have played better in the game today, despite the poor officiating.  But we already clinched a losing road record with the loss today, so the Blazers need to prove to themselves they can win.

If Roy is unable to go tonight, or is limited, Mills will again be given the same opportunity in that back-up role he had before BRoy's return.  Roy's absence last night in the fourth quarter was painfully obvious and impactful on the eventual outcome.  Miller had been making OKC pay for doubling LA from him by hitting the mid range, but Roy's steadying, though sometimes methodical offensive production was missed late.  Patty has demonstrated that he can be effective against Parker and the Spurs, particularly without Manu on the floor.

    From the Team Twitter account-
Nicolas Batum (right quad) is probable and Brandon Roy (lower back) is a game time decision for tonight’s game at San Antonio.

Greg Popovich is clearly the best coach in basketball.  already approaching a 60 win season, regardless of numerous injuries and an aging nucleus.  He knows how to get what he needs out of his role players, and as a result, they win games that they should win.  Good on him.  Now let's tear these old farts a new fart pipe.

Last night in OKC andre miller took far too many shots. I'm not talking classic andre miller posting up and getting to the rack, I'm talkin about straight up jump shots (I almost didn't use the word jump because dre gets about 2 inches of elevation on his jump shot). Though it wasn't all Dre's fault,  westbrook and ibaka took us to town and we couldn't really get it done defensively down the stretch...

Tonight, though, I'm lookin for L-Train to exploit the size advantage on Blair and McDyess and I'm also lookin for Gerald Wallace on those hustle plays!! If Batum gets hot we should feed him early and often, otherwise let's work it around to the open man and get the open shots!!

I'm lovin the B-Roy and Rudy combo when Andre's on the bench. Also rudy needs to man up and take open 3's, DONT BE SCURRD YOUNG'n!!!

Well if both Duncan & Ginobili are out, I think is patty mills could play a HUGE part in this game! He already gives a huge spark to the team whenever he gets subbed in. The way he's been playing I think he should start! The last few times he's played, he set a season high for himself and then tied his season high of 12 points many of the games after that. I don't think they've been giving him enough time in each game to show his full potential. He's an excellent three point shooter, and he's small, speedy and agile enough to get past most players. So I definitely think he should play quite a bit this game, way more than usual.

Whatever we do just don't play Roy - He can't move and he's a liability on defense.

Too close for comfort.  I didn't like the effort we had today.  Wasn't playoff intensity, and we looked really tired and really hungover.  That's something we need to get over soon.  Every game matters, doesn't matter how weak the opponent is.  I thought we were over this, but tonight we got a big scare.

However, I am happy we got the W.  Utah is 5 games from being clinched out of the playoffs.  Portland is 4 games from being clinched in the playoffs.  Let's win in NOH and let's sweep April so I can look like a genius.

I dunno' about "look like a genius" but you certainly look like the sun is in your eyes.  Please don't say you're 80% Chinese.  I'll feel a little racist if you do.

Good W.  One bad quarter doesn't bother me.  Second night of a back to back with a "maybe" Batum and Roy.  I'll take an eight point win and run.  NOH should be a tight match-up and I look forward to another honest contest.  As much as I'd love to see Portland blow 'em out and get some rest I gotta' feelin' the scrap-o-meter is gonna' determine the final score which means everybody will be tired by the end.

Smart move by Coach Pop trying to throw us off by not playing Parker and Ginobili, but it backfired in the end because they didn't have no one that can close the deal down the stretch. Without Andre we don't win this game, LA needs to bring it Wed and have one game on this road trip wheres he's dominate 9pts won't get it done. Batum had a great game on the boards, Gerald was well Gerald and Wesley did some good things but all in all i'm just glad we woke up in the 4th and got it done.

Listened to the game via internet it sounded like no defense was being played. Granted the bench for the Spurs were playing WAAAAYYY over their heads and they were playing for a job next year, this game should not have been that close. Overconfidence was probably the main factor in this game. If I was coach I would sit them down and let them watch tapes of only the third quarter and the first 6 minutes of the 4th which is probably the worst basketball we have played all season considering the caliber of players we were playing.
The only reason why we won was the fact that they only shot 50% from the charity line. More turnovers than points in the third quarter these guys would be doing sprints at the end of the game til they puked. If we plan to get out of the first round we can never play like this again not this year anyways.
I'll get off my soapbox now.

All-Stars don't get held to 9 points by the likes of Bonner and Splitter.  Has the February LA retired?  Have the minutes this season caught up with Aldridge?  Better hope not.  Without the one and only consistent contributor at the offensive end and a zone defense implimented solely to mask weak man defenders, this team will be swept.

    From Oregon Live-
Batum Pleas With Nate To Let Him Guard Hill
“He was killing us,” Batum said. “I went to (McMillan). I said, ‘I gotta guard this guy. That’s my job. I gotta guard this guy. (Put me) on him and he won’t score the basketball.’”
“I don’t know what happened ...  my mind was,” Batum said, pausing, furrowing his brow and pointing each finger at opposite temples to reveal extreme focus. “I was mad. I don’t know why. I was like, ‘This guy, he won’t score. The last bucket he scored, that’s going to be the last bucket.’”

I love the leadership role Nic is exuding right now. Very impressive for such a young player, but that's the type of attitude we'll need form him if we are too advance deep into the playoffs.
