How can the Trail Blazers slow down the Lakers?
Bench Production (25+ bench points) (11)
     25%
    Win The Rebounding Battle (9)
     20%
Score Over 100+ (PDX has scored over 100 in their last 3 wins) (6)
     14%
    Hot From 3 (7+ 3-pointers on 40%+ shooting) (5)
     11%
Keep Kobe In Check (Under 20 point, no late-game take overs) (13)
     30%

After sweeping a three-game homestand, the Trail Blazers make a quick pit stop in Los Angeles to take on the rival Lakers. So far, the Trail Blazers are 0-2 against the Lakers, falling hard 121-96 back on November 7th and gave away a heartbreaking, 106-101 defeat on February 23rd. But this will be the first time the two teams have met with the newly acquired Gerald Wallace in the lineup, a well-known thorn in the Lakers' side from his Bobcat days. A lot will be riding on this game as Portland has now grabbed a hold of a 5th place tie with Denver and opened up a two-game lead in the loss column over the Hornets. A win pushes them into 5th while a loss makes the makes it tougher to breathe in the Wild, Wild West.

For the Blazers to walk away victorious, they will have earned it. The Lakers are scorching hot, winners of 11 of their last 12 since the All-Star Break. Rebounding is obviously key, since La possesses a lot of length and height. 3-point shooting will also play a role. If our shooters can't dial it in from downtown, LA will double LaMarcus all night, making it hard to operate. Finally, bench production will be vital. If B-Roy, Rudy, Patty & Marcus can outplay their LA counterparts, most notably Shannon Brown & Lamar Odom, the Blazers could be the talk of the town.

Win the rebounding battle.  Hustle, hustle hustle.  I'm not worried about Kobe as I am about Bynum and Gasol, who are the keys to that team.  Bynum shouldn't be playing... it's pretty lame that he's able to after that flagrant on Beasley.

Energy, Bench, Limit Points in the paint, LA Has to outplay Gasol so get him going early and keep Lamar Odom in check.

Big advantage for us. Not only does Odom have to start, weakening their bench, but now our small starting lineup won't be hurt by size. LA guards Pau and Crash takes Odom.

Pau has the ability to get LA into early foul trouble.  That spells death for the Blazers, who simply lack size without GO, JP, and recently departed PrideBilla.  Something to keep an eye on, and I'm sure, part of Jackson's game plan.  I do agree that the Lakers being without Bynum hurts their chances...however, I disagree that it is to a degree giving Portland an advantage.  With a healthy Oden, this rivalry becomes very competitive.

I voted "Rebounding battle" of the choices provided.  If the Blazers can somehow out rebound a bigger, longer Laker team in Staples, they will at least give themselves a chance in the fourth.  If they don't, and they succumb to the size?  Game over.  Wesley isn't going to hit five threes in a row every game.  Sorry.  Back to my "unrealistic expectations" speech.

Without Bynum Our chance to win rebounding battle  are pretty good, keep Kobe under 20 and aggressive play that the key. Playoffs are coming and every win is very important !!!

Rebounding and the bench are key here. Kobe is going to get his looks and his shots. Roy needs to step up to take some heat off of Lamarcus, especially early while Gasol will try to suck Lamarcus into early foul trouble. I hope the Zebra's let the teams play and not make it an laker win by default.

The blazers cannot outplay the Laker bench, it is just an unrealistic idea.
Looking to throw up 100 points ,doesnt solve the problem of going bucket for bucket against the lakers who have no trouble scoring points.

If this team goes in with idea that the 3 ball will save them, it can also break this team, its not solid.

Bynum being out does help, but it doesnt stop gasol from playing twice as hard. Gasol is the main big on that team still and he is as defensively talented as he is offensivly. So Lamarcus needs to play some nice d.
But shut KOBE DOWN. He is usually responsible for the team winning or losing / and it will most likley come down to his FG %.

nah dude, odoms girl's sister is as hot as she is dumb!

but odom does start your right hawes, but what about Brown, Barnes and Blake, they may not be super efficiant but usually you can cant on one of them to get 15+ points.....thats one player getting 15 points, those other 2 just need 5 each and your bench has 20+ points...
but i agree with odom starting they may lose that power off the bench, but they make up for it with probably one of the most intense starting rotations in the NBA with.

Well.  Was hard fought and I'm proud.  Could have gone either way, but a few miss calls and Camby going down gave LA all the momentum and that's what won it for them.  We got to stop falling for jumpshots late in the game.  I know easier said than done, but we had too many poor jumpshots in both of the recent Laker games and both times we've died.  When are they going to learn their lesson?  Take it to the hoop.  Be aggressive.

It was that bank 3 from Barnes that did us in....eerily similar to that of Brian Shaw, back in 2000. I loved our defense and rebounding. If we just would have controlled the ball late in the game, we walk away victorious.

If there is such a thing, it was a good loss.  Believe me, I hate the Lakers with everything in me, and I'm not stressing over it.  We'll take these guys to 7 games after being the Mavs.  They looked hungry, and the Lakers did everything right and barely walked away.

I hate Kobe.  Not because of his game or what he does on the court,  but this dumbass actually complained about officiating in the post-game.  Are you kidding me?  The Lakers run started on 3 miss calls by the refs, and he's going to complain like that?   Once he retires all this crap in the NBA will be done and the NBA will be a much better place I guarantee it.

In truth we need to stop Pau Gasol and win the battle of the boards to beat the Lakers. Look at Gasol this season he is a one man ass kicker. Next we need to get Bynum and Odom in foul trouble early.

i dont see how this can be considered a good loss at all.
the blazers were up nearly 8 points i believe in the 3rd quarter, maybe even 10, and i go home and hear that the Lakers win.
    Wow, what the heck happened.
To call it a close game is farfetched, once Kobe and the rest of them lit it up there was only one way for the blazers to go, and that was down.
To me i think its really sad that this team can go out and win 4 or 5 games in a row yet once they play an important team like the lakers, a team they may very well play against in the first round ( which getting to the first round seemed impossible earlier this season) they blow it.

Losing a game like this just further reassures the lakers that they can take portland any time in any round.
    A hard loss.

But Batum, good game, thats the speed im talking about. get it.
