in my time here i have noticed two things that really stand out.

This whole " Blazer Fan Nation" gig that goes around where "the best fans in the NBA" are, and all of that yadda yadda yadda.

But what i dont understand is in the second thing i have noticed (and this is not everyone, but alot of you fans) when the team is winning, its great, the blazers are great and everyone is happy.
But as soon as they lose, 1 or 2 games, the nastiest comments come out of some your mouths.
Aimed at your "beloved team". So quick to turn for such loyal fans.

i get rediculed all the time on here, but one thing i do know is that, a fan likes their team through thick and thin, and being mad about a loss, and saying some of the cruel things you guys do, are two totally different things.

so idk maybe i am over analyzing the whole concept, but one day its like " yea go blazers, playoffs, pick our seed, rip city for life" and the next day they lose a game to like CLE and its " Wow, this team plays with no passion, they are not going anywhere, horrible"
    i mean whats that?
its just so much easier to sit in a dark room in front of a computer and talk about the x's and o's of playing and winning basketball, but its another to go out there and play as hard as you can day in and day out....just to come home to fans who think you dont play with any heart, didnt play hard enough....

Definitely not even "a lot" of fans. There has only been one moron on this forum who has been quick to turn. and we all know who that is. To think he represents a lot of blazer fans means you are either very confused, or not as observant as you would like to think. As fans we have all the right in the world to point out which areas of the game our team disappoints us in. To be honest I bet you they disappointed themselves more. No matter what team you follow they can't be perfect every game and we realize that. But since we are fans, does that mean we shouldn't analyze the pros and cons of the game?

P.S. This is a troll post if I ever did see one.

Well, when I say nasty things about the Blazers, they deserve it.  Like right now I'm fairly pissed at their horrible effort.  No defense, no rebounding, no getting back on defense, no ball movement, and shooting 32% for the game.

I just wish they'd treat every game like it matters, because to get to the 2nd round (the thing the Blazers keep saying is their goal), they need to get a good position to go against an easier team to increase your chances.  But it seems like they don't take games seriously, when at this point every game is serious.  Add the fact they're getting paid a lot more than me yet I work my butt off everyday I'm called in to work.

I'm not one of them fans that go "OMFG we're horrible".  I ride the ups and downs, but I never give up on the team.  We lost today, but I'm still confident we'll reach the playoffs and get to the second round.  It's just really frustrating taking 3 hours out of my Saturday to see an embarrassing loss like tonights.  Same thing with last night.  Those games were easy wins, and the Blazers made them look hard, and ultimately lost.  That's a valid reason in my book to be frustrated.

But yeah, I hate the fans that all of a sudden come out and think this is the worse team when clearly they're not.

TayC I agree with you I sometimes don't want to come to this site after a lost because it's depressing of the coments people post I mean we could be the worst team in the NBA, we could be even still the Jailblazers better yet we could still have injuries, I know everyone wants this team to do well and play to the potential that we all know they can play, but i have been to other fan sites just to see how other fans talk about their team and they are worst than us and it also a good way to get a good laugh but some people can be brutal.

Herr i agree with you also I don't know what is up with us but hopefully they can wake up because it doesn't get any easier, man these last two games sting, but i know we will get back to Blazer Basketball.

Agree. Some people just need to relax. As long as Blazers make playoffs, I'm happy. So what if Blazers win 82 games and get a 1st round exit or win 40 and make a 1st round exit. IT DOESN'T MATTER.

I agree, fans need to calm down.

Blazer fans have a right to complain. It rains here more then any other NBA team, and it might help a little to vent your frustrations verbally. (Herr, please don't punch your walls. Sheet-rock prices are going up)

But you gotta know how many Laker fans disguise themeselves as Blazer fans, then blog about how terrible we play. Look how many Laker fans showed up to the last game, they were cheering louder then Blazer fans. USE YOUR LUNGS AT THE GAMES PEOPLE. Stop tweeting, and watch your team and cheer for a change.
I am a fan of multiple All-Stars on the Blazers roster this season!

Blazer fan mood fluctuates a lot because there isn't really any consistancy with the team.  Inconsistancy breeds aggitation.  It's like how businesses use tatctics to deter complacency in employees and customers by changing things constantly.  They'd rather have you aggitated than comfortable because comfortable people aren't motivated.  Obviously I'm not saying that Portland's ups and downs are deliberate but fan and even player moods are a byproduct of the inconsistancy.

The main reason the team is so inconsistant is because they're so young.  Aldridge, Roy, Miller, Camby and Wallace tend to have pretty reliable production and that comes with experience.  Guys like Patty, Batum, Matthews and even Rudy just don't have the same hours under their belt in this league.  Rudy is the only one with confidence to fire shots through a slump but he's been cold lately.  The other three will perform better as time passes and they gain more confidence.  Once you arrive at a place in your mind when you can miss a shot and not have that impact the next time you put the ball in the air you become far more consistant.

I'm ultimately getting at the fact that you can't hold it against Blazer fans who seem borderline biopolar.  It's literally a psychological reaction to the inconsistant performance of the team.  Well, that's the case for most of the fans.  There are bound to be a slew of jackasses in every group lol.

Cheers, guys and gals.  Lookin' forward to the tough game on Tuesday.  Let's hope we don't end up KGW snake-bit again!
I am a fan of Rudy and Patty's off-court bromance.

TayC, as a "Blazer Fan Nation gig" supporter, or as I like to call myself a "Blazer Fan," I spectate.  I spectate because I am a fan.  Now, many fans on these forums are very "passionate" when it comes to #winning and fail to analyze it any further than a win/loss scenario.  So a loss can become a very tragic experience for them if they are a true Blazers FANatic.  These FANatics are what makes Portland insanely...different.  The great kind of different that Portland prides itself on--likely driven by the flames of a certain 1977 forest fire of a season.  You know what I think happened to those Blazer players in 1977..?  I think they caught whatever kind of passion the fans had and ran with it.  Blazer fans will continue being fans so long as the team keeps being a team.

Rain or shine though that Blazer fan that made those harsh but SOMETIMES true comments will still be sitting in the stands at a game when the Blazers are down by twenty with 2 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.  Some individuals that like to analyze basketball typically like to read others' analysis of the same subject which is why Forums, Blogs, Twitter exist.  I can disagree with you and you can disagree with me but in the end we're not the Blazers staff nor are we the players themselves and we can all grasp that what we do IS, "sit in a dark room in front of a computer and talk about the x's and o's of playing and winning basketball." Further, we also understand that “it’s another [thing] to go out there and play as hard as you can day in and day out....just to come home to fans who think you don’t play with any heart, didn’t play hard enough….”  I will say that I do sit in a well lit room when I’m typing though; I suggest you do the same.

Ok on a serious note, Blazer fans will be fans, some crazy, some crazy passionate, but none disloyal.  In the end we know we’re just analyzing, talking, and brainstorming of ways we THINK our team can win or improve.  Be thankful Blazer fans are active; you could have an All-Star roster and still get stuck with Miami fans. (sorry if that one stung TayC, but I’m not on that Bronwagon).  Thick and thin, rich or poor, black or white, employed or unemployed (recession joke #winning), Washington, Oregon, Idaho, we’re all fans of a great team and we will continue to pack the rose garden.  #tigerblood

    Respectfully,

Blazer fan mood fluctuates a lot because there isn't really any consistancy with the team
This would be the definition of " Not a Blazer Fan".

I know there are some die hard vets that would back me up on that, Kim,Clyde,Hawes, those guys and gal, are dedicated fans. sure they may get upset and say "patty, they will block you everytime, pass." but they will be at the next game for sure. they wont breakdown and say " thats it, teams done, no playoffs."

    Super optimistic.

Guys like Patty, Batum, Matthews and even Rudy just don't have the same hours under their belt in this league

i hate to break it to you, but young teams are where its at now days. This team's youth has nothing to do with their constancy. The inconsistency comes from team chemistry/coaching/fatigue.
Nate has told Batum multiple times to hold back, Batum holds back alright, all he does is shoot 3's.
but the kid can jump and run just as fast and high if not higher than LBJ. he is a beast just waiting to be unleashed.
Rudy is one of the most valuable transition players i have ever seen, he has enormous hustle and a pretty decent shot.
patty, young, but talent up the wazoo, just needs time or a mentor.

And as for Wesley Mathews, i was his biggest doubter before this season started, but i dont think i am the only one who feels that he has played almost as big a part as Aldridge this season.

Blazer fans are great for the most part, but there are only a few out there who are really sportsfans.
They dont go overboard, they dont judge other teams harshly or make a stab at a player, like lebron, they treat people the way this wish to be treated, they have an image they'd like to keep untarnished.
The rest of the fan base can sometimes sit atop a pius throne of falsehood, but they are a good fan base, but if you want your team to win, i would be a little more faithful, i mean what if the players actually read the site? im sure they would love to read " playoff chances gone after loss to Charlotte" with 18 games left.

@mike, nah busy bee that didnt sting, i think alot of you guys forget, i am not a miami heat fan, i like lebron james, and there really isnt any condescending comment that can change my mind, that boy has changed the game, he is great at whatever he does, and i will always support him even when the world turns their back on him and acts childish, because you really cant understand unless you are a fan.

A mood fluctuation is everything being a fan is about.  Passion.  I hope you have a mood fluctuation when Lebron scores on a nasty dunk or even when he misses a wide open 15 footer.  Being angry with how a team is playing is just as normal as not being happy with how they are playing.  Being disappointed, frustrated, tired, or worried are all normal emotions that the players are likely feeling themselves.

when people post stupid post/comments about blazers sucking it just their way of venting after a loss. Who cares if this team has fans that get irritated easily, maybe they will only continue to improve for years to come  and its healthy to get anger off your chest and this is the place to do it if the Blazers losing is what got you pissed in the first place.

P.S Blazers shouldnt have lost to the bobcats. Wallace needs to find his role with this team fast because the playoffs are coming fast and another first round exit would just be murder to us fans(i dont mean alot of people will quit being blazers fans but a bit of faith will be lost if they loss in the first round or dont go to the post season at all)
I am a fan of Portland's big three. Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and the newest Trail Blazers Gerald Wallace
