good, not great trade.  I thought it was a great trade untill I found out that we gave up Dante in the trade as well as pryzbilla because now we dont have anyone to backup Marcus Camby.  I guess we could play wallace at pf and Aldridge at center but we may have some problems against the Lakers, Mavs, magic and now the thunder since i think aldridge will just get overpowered by guys like dwight howard
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

FYI we traded two first round draft picks.

We have a stacked Guard position, and now some depth in forward, but coming at the price of much needed depth at Center.  all we have at center now is camby and aldridge(who's going to need breaks from forward.  I just don't know anymore.  Aldridge is going to have to be very conditioned for up coming games cause he's going to have to be the First string PF and second string C.

My thoughts, trade roy in the off seasonf for a dominant center.

I'm a bit sad that we gave up Dante.  He was one of my favorites, and a player I respected a lot.  I hope the best for him and his family.  He'll always be welcomed in PDX.  But, it's a great trade if Wallace can play well.

Aldridge don't play no center!  This could be a rough ride until Camby is healthy.  Scratch that.  If it's not a rough ride until Camby is healthy I'll be stunned beyond belief.  Scary time for Blazers to get smaller but I'm very curious how the next couple weeks will roll out.  I feel ILL about DC get shifted.

What about that one kid from the D-league?  Maybe we opened a spot for him.  We didn't sign him to a 2nd 10-day contract maybe it was so they could give him a test drive at the 2nd string C position

He's going to be forced to unless we put some scrub in.  He can fair the position against average centers.
Something to expect.  You will never see both Aldridge and Camby off of the bench at the same time.

Like I said:  Situation wise, trade Roy in off-season for a big dominant center.  As great of a guy and player that Roy is, the team does better without him.  It even shows statistically.  That's the move I would make.  Also add Oden into the mix to up our chances at a Dominant Center.

it shows statistically that the team is better without him? are you serious? care to share these statistics?

i mean i can go back to last night against the lakers. the offence was fine when he was in there lma was getting involved. getting open looks.

once he left the game because he reached the limit we couldn't get a good look or get lma on the block.

i really think unknowledgeable fans shouldn't speak on what they dont know. especially when they throw out words such as "statistically" come on broski.

"offense was fine when he was in there lma was getting involved.  getting open looks" cause that's statistics, right? smh

Look at the Wins Losses when we had him and didn't. 15-17 with roy this season, 20-12 without him.  They've been doing better as a team without him, period.

That was with an injured Roy not a healthy Roy, if we had the old Roy it would have been different.  Now is the time to see what Roy will become

If he was injured he should have played accordingly.  I like the chemistry we have with Roy out.  Hopefully that's just something that they would've developed anyways.  I hope Roy only adds to the upside, I really do.

But to reiterate, with the crew that we have at guard, I think we need a dominant center more than a dominant guard, especially with the situation we've just gotten ourselves into.

This is  a hard trade for me to swallow, Although; it was the right move to make. You may not want to trust this move but it made us better. It is alot like the camby move last season. Wallace is a beast he plays hard and can do what dante did and then some. And now i hear we are getting tj ford. This will sure up our back up point gaurd. Face it we are not a title contender this year but if we can get a healthy oden or onther center in the draft we could be in the running

Guy's, this is a GREAT trade.  We have our first "scoring" wing since Clyde Drexler.  Gerald has 10 years experience, yet he is only 28 years old.  I love Joel but he will never be the same player he was before his injury.  Cunningham was a loss but don't sweat the two draft picks.  There will be trades made "after the season is completed" that will get one if not both of those 1st. rounder's back.  Blazer fans, we just went from a 5th. or 6th. seed to a "home court advantage" 3rd. seed.

I am in full support of the trade, I believe Cho made a great move, I am a huge Batum fan, I think in one to two years he will be even better, and with a soldier like Gerald teaching him the ways of working hard and aggressiveness towards the basket, I am even more excited for Batum's future. Our teams is going to be so much more aggressive, and tiring other teams out. Even though I am a little afraid about the center position, I believe Camby, and Aldridge will be alright switching with the center position for only this second part of the season. My hope is that Cho will be aggressive this coming summer and get a good quality center. I am not putting my hopes on Oden for next season. I am also in support of TJ Ford coming to portland, (I am not a Mills fan).

    Can't wait to see:

    PG: Andre Miller
    SG: Wesley Matthews
    SF: Gerald Wallace
    PF: Lamarcus Aldrdige
    C: Marcus Camby
bench: Batum, Roy, Fernandez, Babbit, and (hopefully T.J. Ford)
ps please Elliot and Greg, comeback soon!

    lol @ your 20/12 and 15/17

honestlif you get to use wins as stats for just this season than you are biased.

care to take a guess at how many wins the blazers have with roy over the course of his career?
and how many games they've won without roy when he has not been able to play.

blazers are NOT better without roy. that's like saying the lakers are better without kobe. or..
heck the cavs are better without lebron.
please before you start to throw statistics out. think how someone might rebuttle

IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS TRADE YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ANY TRADE.

THE BLAZERS JUST GOT BETTER! NO QUESTION. EVEN CHARLOTTE SAID IT WAS NOT AN EQUAL TRADE BASED ON TALENT.

Solid A for Cho! Considering what he was working with, what he gave up, and what's coming back. Beautiful work. Can't wait to see the new team. Portland is the only team in our division that got better, Utah and Denver got worse. This may be the best move made by a Western Conference team here at the trade deadline.

In this case the rebuttal is with different teams, including past Blazer teams.  Please, before you throw out analogies, realize that they aren't the same.  You can't just say any team that gets rid of their all star is like the blazers without Roy.

Maybe in the past years they needed him, but recently they've been playing better without him.

No doubt in talent(other than two first round picks.  Thought two was a bit much.)  Although the situation we're caught in now is what I'm worried about.

@hurricaneivan - you're not the first person to suggest that the blazers are better without roy. I don't tend to agree with it at all though, and here's why.

What happened in the 4th quarter and OT last night is something we've seen quite a bit this year. When it matters, teams focus on LA and shut him down. When that happens - Roy is EXACTLY what we're missing. He's clutch, and he can get to the basket and the foul line. He puts tremendous pressure on a defense. Roy doing that last night would have got us the win. Instead it was Gosol being aggressive until the Blazers adjusted and Kobe took over. How are we better without that?

I have to admit the Blazers play differently without him. They may even be playing better as a team then they were before. Where Brandon will make us better now is if his minutes can be managed and his opportunities focused on situations where he does what he does. That can't be a bad thing.

To simply say a team is better off without a 3 time all-star, team leader, and rookie of the year is ludicris. That's not true dude.

What I've been proposing to friends of mine is to play him off the bench.  Not significantly low minutes, but still off the bench.  I'm in more favor of the team play and chemistry.  I think with him off the bench, we can keep that chem. and still utilize an all star.  Maybe it might be a fault to say that the teams better without him, but I stand by saying that they play a lot better without him.  Other players aren't use to what Roy is when it comes to the Aldridge pressure you mentioned.  They did have trouble but they had a lot of looks.  It's true that there isn't anybody on clutch without Roy.  I have noticed that myself and it's a damn shame too because that's the only thing I would say that holds them back without him.

Man, yesterday.  What killed us was not scoring in 4 last minutes of regulation.  And Aldridge is anti-clutch with free throws every year.
