What do you guys think about Brooks? Seems like it would be easy to make a deal with Houston who is in rebuilding process if we give up a draft pick and Fernandez or Batum for Aaron Brooks. I think we'd be getting exactly what we need. Young, fast, scoring PG. I'd rather have him than Devin Harris, who we almost got in the Carmelo Deal that barely fell through last weekend.

Who Do you want to see the blazers go after?

To me it seems like a trade just to trade. our chemistry is high and all we need is health! I think the team will be OK for the time that Camby is out. Przybilla is working hard and our bench production is great as of late. Don't get me wrong i like Aaron Brooks but i think he would mess up the chemistry we have built. I hope we can sign him in the off season though!

I have to disagree, the chemistry is nice right now, but the reality is that we aren't beating any good teams. We need more scoring presence and a young quick point guard. Aaron has never been linked to any on the court or off the court problems. Bringing him to the team may make the chemistry better. If we have any hope of winning a playoff series this season we need to make a splash before the trade deadline. I see Brooks as a good fit for our system and I like his game. Being a NW kid, it would almost be a perfect match.

I would love to hear any other ideas. Who else do you guys think would be a good piece to help us get to the 2nd round of the playoffs????

I think we need a big body backup PF first, to keep LMA minutes down and not burn him out before the playoffs. Our bench is too streaky to depend on for the long haul, so we also need another player off the bench that can score some points. If we get the opportunity to pick up a point guard of Brooks caliber we should jump at the chance as long as it doesn't involve trading  LMA, Nick, Wes or Oden,

Batum shouldn't be considered in any trade and if Rudy keeps his game up I wouldn't trade him either. Chemistry is as important as ability at least in my opinion.

Only people i would consider trading  are Dante Cunningham, Armon Johnson, Sean Marks, Patty Mills and maybe Joel Przybilla depending on who we get. Everybody else to me is untouchable it would hurt the team significantly and the people we have that are trade able aren't quality guys so we will just get more player of bad quality for them.

Devin Harris is faster than AB, but Brooks has improved so much over the last couple of years.
But you have to look at the game plan, the way we run the offense.
Is using aldridge going to be permanently adopted? or is it just temporary?
Because harris would be perfect if we wanted to become a running team, a team in transition. However thats not all, his fast moves could provide an explosive new side of portlands ever so slow offense.

Arron Brooks though, is clutch guard who has multiple ways of scoring, ways that do not rely on speed.
He can shoot. ive seen him hit a deep 3 before, crazy stuff.
Him being from the NW, i dont see how that would effect him playing better at all though.
But he has built up a good rep in Houston,  established himself with that team, bringing him here could in fact make him play at a lower caliber than what he is at now. That happens alot.

So basically keep mostly everyone who has been on this team the past few years, and throw out all the new people, but keep luke babbit?

    hahahah

When I mentioned him being a NW guy I meant that he would probably love to play here because he has friends and family in oregon and washington. But ya I agree with everything you said. Especially about how silly Burnt popcorn is. If you wanna get anything good, you have to give up something good in return. We aren't going to get a piece that is going to make us any better by trading away a package of Sean Marks and Dante Cunningham, lol. Batum has tremendous value all over the league. GM's really like him for a lot of reasons, we could definitely get a good Vet for him from a team trying to go younger. And I don't mean an old vet I mean a young vet like a Brooks or Harris maybe even Curry (I know curry isn't a vet but everything I've read makes it sound like Golden State wants to keep Monte and trade Curry but they want a big name for him so I doubt that would work).

Anthony Randolph could be our newest blazer and why not, he's probably better than anything we're gonna get with a mid to late first round pick. We'd probably just get another luke babbit anyway (worst draft choice ever btw).

What Big Guy should we take a shot at? Anyone have a young center that they would like to see in Rip City? like a Thabeet or something?

Marc Gasol becomes a Restricted Free Agent this summer. If the NBA passes that rule this year that lets every team drop one player from their salary cap, I really think we should throw massive amounts of money at Marc Gasol and steal him away.

Jas you mentioned some good names to trade for at the point.
But let me ask you this, take what you just said about maybe Batum for a Harris, Brooks or Curry, but put in Batum and perhaps Cunningham for a Center of the equivalent value of those PG's.
But ima ask you to bring up some names for C....

the GS issue with Curry and Ellis is funny, because i feel as if they can totally make that work, with the both of them, but if they have to drop one of them, we should swoop.

Gasol has blossomed nicely, total rocky start, but have developed very nicely.

Devin Harris is the faster human being with a basketball, he set the record for fastest time across the court in 3.4 seconds i believe, right before the all star game in 2009.
tony parker was going to participate but Poppavich told him not to, because he was afraid he would hurt himself.
    So unless
Aaron Brooks holds a record for, fastest person who never set a record, then i do believe it is true.

Brooks is not the answer, neither is Harris. They both blow.
Harris is sloppy, Brooks is injury prone as well as a ball hog.
Yeah that's all we need is another injury prone douche bag. I'd rather keep the Iron-man.
    I'd prefer Deron Williams, he's a free-agent soon isn't he?

oh yeah much more plausable trying to get DMW.
Dude there is no way Williams would leave his spot in Utah to come to Ye Ol Portland.
This isnt a video game yo.
Portland has no incentive to offer an all star caliber player. the fact that Harris was even in the mentions was lucky, he blows because he plays on the least popular franchise in the NBA. The Nets are the lowest attendance team in the NBA. They dont have the capabilities to trade all types of players at any time like Portland does.

I mean are you sure you want williams, lets ask Rondo, or Rose, or Russel westbrook for that matter

    Why wouldn't he leave Utah?
Salt Lake is like one of the smallest markets there is.
No, Harris blows because he blows, not because he plays for the Nets.

And yeah, DWill is cold blooded, as well ass Rondo, Rose, & Westbrook.
But the only one of those players unhappy with their current situation & are entering free agency soon is Williams.

;forget about the market, he has one of the best nba coaches, he has some of the loyalist fans, not to mention he still has a couple of decent players on that team.
i mean how much money do they have, if they pick up a decent SF, to go in and out with AK47, then their game is revitalized.
Millsap is making moves just like Aldridge has this season.

It looks like Brooks and the Rockets are heading for a divorce.
    Via Oregon Live-
Aaron Brooks' frustration finally boiled over, and it will cost him.

The former University of Oregon star left the court, going straight to the locker room, after he was taken out with 6:45 left in the fourth quarter of the Houston Rockets' home game against Memphis on Saturday.

The departure was all the more glaring because the game went to overtime, with Houston winning 95-93. After the game, Rockets coach Rick Adelman was asked where Brooks went and answered, "I don't know. You'd have to ask him."

On Sunday, the Rockets suspended Brooks for their Monday game at Denver, leaving for the trip without him. The suspension will cost Brooks about $22,600 in salary.

I would definitely love to buy low here. Brooks has All-Star talent, is quick, and can shoot the lights out. Not to mention he's still only 25-26 years old. I'm not sure exactly what state the Rockets are in right now though. Are they rebuilding? Still hoping Yao returns? It really depends on what state of mind they arein if we are to become good trading partners or not.

There is admittedly alot to like about the prospect of Brooks as a Blazer.  Allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment though.  With character a prerequisite for future Blazers, with his latest JR Rider-like stunt, would he fit in?  I know his game and like his ability to spread the floor with the threat of the deep ball, as well as his ability to get to the rim, however his size, or rather lack of, is an issue with me.  At 6'0, he's not any bigger than Mills.  His contract is also a difficult one for Portland to match up with.  He's only making a mere 2M this season, a far cry from either Joel (7.4M) and/or Dre (7.2M).

Doesn't looks like Houston is in any rush to deal Aaron Brooks, via Oregon Live-
Adelman said the Rockets have no intention of trading Brooks -- reports of the Knicks coveting him have been rampant -- but there will be a chance for the Blazers to make a run at Brooks this summer, when he becomes a restricted free agent. What's not clear is if he would worth the effort.
