What should the Trail Blazers do with Roy?
Rest him for the entire season (47)
     59%
Bring him back after the All-Star Break (12)
     15%
Return for the final stretch run if we are in playoff contention (20)
     25%
Suit up and play now (1)
     1%

    From Twitter-
@: Brandon Roy to be sidelined indefinitely. "I can tell you it will most likely be for an extended period,'' GM Rich Cho says.
No real surprise. Anytime an injury doesn't have a time table for a return, the player is usually going to be sidelined for a while. What do you think? Just shut him down for the season? Or risk bringing him back for a late-season push?

There is absolutely no sense in bringing him back early just to make a push because we have like a 5% chance of winning it all plus you have a high risk of ruining chemistry and a high risk of Brandon just wearing down further for nothing. If he really is never going to return to form then it doesn't matter either, but if there is a chance of him returning to almost being the same consistently by letting him heal and then fully rehabilitate and strengthen things to compensate, then shut him down this year to do that.

Good that somebody finally came out and told us not to expect a return any time soon. Clearly Mr. Cho plays his cards close to the chest; let's hope and trust that, with this made clear, there is a solid Plan B (and Plan C and D) to deal with the situation.

We just have to rely on Brandon and Nate and the medical guys to sort it out. {== shrug ==} What else can we do?

I can only imagine how tough this is for Brandon.

Like I've BEEN saying (and having everyone else contest), Roy is "alot closer to retirement" than any of us realize.  Anyone here still want to argue with me that BRoy is not just "injured"?  I'm waiting...

BIG PICTURE folks...big picture.  What will it mean to PA and this franchise if Roy is unable to return to the floor.  A sizeable percentage of the team's cap space is legally spent on his contract until 2015.  Can the Blazers compete with only a fraction of the money to spend on talent that all the other teams have?  In a small market no less?  BIG PICTURE...

@occassia...absolutely agree.  Roy is a competitor.  I feel for him AND for Paul Allen.

I really hope and pray that Brandon comes back strong!
I couldn't imagine being known widely as one of the most dynamic players in the league, and then shortly after watch my career go down the toilet because of an injury!

To Roy, I hope you find that passion for the game again and come back swinging!

In my opinion, if he is not right by the All-Star Break, it's time to shut him down for the season.

Exactly. I would add that it is unlikely any amount of strengthening will do much for him. He doesn't have cushioning and unless they find a way to get him some (not really viable at this point medically), he's going to have pain whenever he plays for any real amount of time most likely.

They will either sort it out, or he will retire.

I feel terrible for Brandon and am really getting angry at the fans who see this as some kind of bright spot. To me, it's just disrespectful to the guy who has done nothing but work his tail off in pursuit of a dream we all shared.

Roy's career is done. Time to make changes and rebuild all over again.

I'm not the only one noticing how well the team is starting to gel without him. I'm sorry, but the guy has such specific needs that it detracts from the team becoming well rounded due to such a high demand on things like constantly playing at a slower pace for Roy, leading to them consistently being one of the worst fast-break teams in the league. Roy's go-to move was beating his man off the dribble, which is something you can't rely on a guy to do when he has no meniscus in his knees.

However, Roy would be an amazing trading piece. I just can't make sense out of keeping a guy like that while being OK with getting rid of Camby and/or Miller. You just can't replace a guy like Camby, and you'd HAVE to bring in another great PG if Miller's sent somewhere else (Mills and Johnson aren't at that level yet). Fernandez's shooting, Batum's versatility and Matthews versatility and shooting are a little easier to come by than what Miller and Camby bring to the table. Trading Aldridge would be ridiculous, the only younger healthy force to reckoned with on the team.

BTW, if Roy's traded/gotten rid of the team doesn't need to necessarily "rebuild", they just need to make a couple great additions.

Perhaps if Miller's traded, CP3 could be brought in. Who knows. There are a lot of options, and a "rebuild" isn't really that useful of a term when you can salvage almost all of your team.

Right now this is Al(star)dridge's team; he has taken over as the guy as his #s have indicated these last 7 games.

Can't anybody see??  His career is over and it brings tears to my eyes.  I've been a season ticket for three years now, and he has lost at least a step.  He can't drive anymore and he can only shoot jumpers.  I hope he retires soon or he will be in a wheelchair by the time he's 35.  He has no cartilage left if in either knee and there is no surgery that can b done to change that.  It brings tears to my entire soul!!!

I know that Roy can come back anytime and play just as well as he has been in this season. but if we ever wanna a chance of him even getting close to his prime again, we will need to work on him for the rest of the season. thats saying the doctors find something for him.

I vote : Rest him for the entire season,

Don't Panic, just give him rest and let him try to fix his knees, We don't know if this is over and he will never play on hi level or there is a chance to change it ?  Wait for start of next seasaon ! there is always hope that everything will be alright.

This is the way I see it Broy is still viable to the team BUT he has to realize that he cant perform like he used too. I dont think he will be able to make that adjustment this season nor will Nate. Him coming in in the final 5 minutes of the game to close. I think that might be pretty awesome I believe his knees could handle that. As of right now we cant trade him and we cant waive him and he still takes up huge cap space so we might as well rest him and use him where it counts but he has to understand this and THAT wont come easy.

If he's ready after all-star break, and not just him but the doctors, cho and McMillan as well, then bring him back. He's "bone on bone" nothing is going to make that go away. But if all said aren't ready then shut him down.

Grant Hill? Yes he can still produce a bit but not to the level that he used to play at. Same with Roy. I don't wanna be paying a player max amount of money for him to whine and moan about having an amazing player next to him and drag the whole flow of the team.
