I'm betting the family farm on Portland losing tonight. This is sipmly fate, and not even God can stop this from happening. HOU leads 2-1. I see most of the team being limited once again by the stiffling Houston defense. Roy will be lucky to get 20 tonight. He can't do it by himself anyway. I see Artest and Battier being effective on both ends of the court, also hitting irritating 3s. Game 4 may be our best hope. Tonight will be one to forget. Sorry if I'm ruining the surprise for anyone.

Well Mr. McClelland, nobody wants the chunk of land that your family owns, sitting just south of the Hanford Nuclear Waste Facility. With the up and down economy we're dealin' with, 3-eyed-bass is not a valuable commodity. So go ahead and place that bet my friend, I'm goin' with Portland....GO BLAZERS!

Actually, if the first half of the game was called evenly (which the second half was called evenly) I think Portland would have snuck out this victory. 4 different times there was a foul or non-call that the ESPN announcers were even saying that shouldn't have been called, and that T on Pryz was complete BS...thats 1 point right there an in a close game that means a lot. I see Portland taking confidence from this though and taking game 4. Go Blazers!

Mr McMillan, from Spain, I say this just to see the match against Portland houston.the match what you have lost, the person who told you that know or understand basketball deserves to be in hell because you do not have basketball idea, does not deserve the 2 piece of Spanish players you have in your template and it is hoped that more of blake is a base of talent and roy is a good player but has been a 24 años.Rudy MVP played European champions in the Olympic final world and the trust you place in the players with less talent in the NBA, Mr. McMillan leave the basketball team because he deserves, but not a loser

Look it is all about numbers. Nate knows what he is doing. I believe it has to do with what Antonio was saying on 5th qtr. It is all about risking a players' efficiency the longer they stay in. Rudy is not used to playing 30 minutes a game, nor is he used to playing a schedule like they have in the NBA. If you don't believe me, just ask Rudy himself. He has mentioned several times how different it is than the Euro schedule. Even though he was doing great, it is better to make an attempt with the guys who are used to it and lose by 3, then to be with Rudy at only 90% for the next game because once he plays from below 100% at the beginning of a game, his efficiency drops exponentially from there. Next year you will see his minutes increase, but this year they would rather have him able to perform at 100% the next game. Maybe in the next game, the TEAM can put the pieces together and rattle off a couple of consecutive wins. It's okay, this wasn't one we were supposed to win. We only need one of the two. Yao's legs are already tired and Brooks can't do it himself offensively. We still have a window. We just need to take advantage of it.

As for you mister mclelland, don't bother posting things like this anymore. I get that you think you are cheeky and funny ruffling the feathers of Blazer fans, but it just makes you look like a jerk. Go home to your Laker fan sites and leave us alone. We never did anything to you so why bother. Grow up and try finding pleasure in positive things rather than in trying to make everyone as miserable as your lonely self. Maybe, if you could find some positives in daily life, girls might pay attention to you. The fact that you felt you needed to post that, tells me that you are one sad, deprived individual. God speed to you and your other endeavors. We here in Rip City are praying for your rehabilitation and release into modern civilization.

I would have to disagree and say Nate doesn't know what he's doing. He's pretty green when it comes to coaching in the playoffs. This is his what, 2nd time to the playoffs in what, 9 years as a coach? Yeah he doesn't know what he's doing. I don't give a crap if Rudy would be at 90% for game 2 (which I think is a joke because there have been at least 10 games this season Rudy has played at least 30 minutes), especially when Blake and Travis are playing so crappy. Blake's final line looked okay, but his play did not represent his line. And Travis, um yeah you can show up anytime dude.

So I hate to disagree with you RipCityRevival, but I think Rudy would have been fine playing 8-10 more minutes. He sure looked pretty pissed off when he was taken out. Didn't seem like the actions of a guy that was exhausted. Also, while he might have not played this many games in the ACB, he played about 30 minutes a game over there. So I just don't understand why he can't do it here, in a playoff game. Nate just has his mancrushes on Blake and Travis and those are going to take us down. Nate seriously needs to review the tape and tell the players the loss is on him just as much as them because he did not put them in the most successful position to win this game. He handicapped us by playing guys who weren't in a rhythm for way too long of stretches. He needs to grow a pair and make some REAL adjustments, not just go with his stupid drab substitution patterns.

As far as his "9 years" of coaching goes, look where he was at? Seattle, the only thing he got there was Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Granted, two great players, but what about a supporting cast? He had nothing and he still took them to the playoffs after a couple years in his system. Then he has spent the last 4 seasons here. Most of his career has been on terrible teams and making them over achieve. I'd say as early as he is in his coaching career, he has been pretty successful. Hey, I am a Rudy fan, look at my page. I am just saying, if it were me I would have left Rudy in, but I've never played in the NBA. I've never played in the Playoffs, and I've never coached higher than Middle School basketball, and yes 30 minutes a game when you are playing once a week makes a HUGE difference from playing 30 minutes a game 3-4 times a week. It is about your muscle stamina and how quickly they rebuild themsleves. That is something that takes a couple years to get used to. Ofcoarse Rudy was upset, he's a competitor and he was HOT! Anyone would be pissed, and I didn't say he was exhausted, but Nate felt we had a chance without getting him to that point. Obviously we only lost by 3 so he wasn't that far off. Now I missed the game completely, I had to work and my work has no real radio, it only plays a series of downloaded songs approved by the company, so I had to miss the whole game, but from what it sounds like, the team isn't firing on all cyllinders yet. Regardless of the refs, regardless of the coaching, we aren't going to win the series unless everyone steps their game up.

I'd have to say with 2 all-stars you should probably make the playoffs. And before he made the playoffs, everyone in Seattle was calling for his head because they felt he wasn't doing anything with the talent on their roster.

All I'm sayin is that Nate did not put us in the best position to win. He kept Travis out there when he was playing like garbage all night, and pulled Rudy when he was firing on all cylinders. Nate didn't make adjustments, he stuck with what he knows, giving Travis way too many minutes. And for some reason he got Sergio out of the lineup. If I'm not mistaken, weren't we kicking people's @$$e$ the last few weeks of the season, and isn't that when Sergio was playing more? When your starting PG is playing medicore why not sit him for a little bit for the backup that has been proving himself recently? Just sayin.

You're right people need to step their games up, but when they're having bad nights like Travis, Nate being the coach needs to recognize that and put in the guy that is doing well. Tonight it was Rudy. Instead he went to his mancrush and he did nothing, again. It's hard for players to step up when Nate won't let them play and continues to give people minutes who aren't earning them (Travis).

Really? You think that if you surround two All-Stars with garbage you should be in the Playoffs? What about Phoenix? How many "All-Stars" do they have? Remember, the Thunder are essentially the same team as that Seattle Playoff team minus Lewis and Allen. Nate had Luke playing out of his mind! Did you read the box score? Batum played 10 minutes and got straight 0's. Joel had only 6 boards. Tonight's game was lost on the boards and in late turn overs. You add that on top of shooting only 42% from the field you aren't going to win many games with that happening either. Yes, adjustments could have been made by coach, but really the players need to rise to the occasion and play it out on the court. They have to start going after those rebounds.

Name 2 all stars on Phoenix. Nash, not anymore. Amare, out this season. Shaq, too old. But when they were healthy, low and behold they were in the playoffs. What a concept. Yes I do think that 2 all stars can take a team to the playoffs. Especially when Nate did it in Seattle when the West was not very competitive. Name the last team that had 2 all-stars that DIDN'T make it to the playoffs? You can't because it doesn't happen very often.

As for Batum's minutes, I never said he needed more minutes did I? I knew this was gonna be a crappy series for Nico, the Rocket's don't really have a star that Batum can guard so he's just kinda sitting out there. If McGrady was healthy than I could see Batum needing time, but when Outlaw is playing 30 minutes and doing crap he should be pulled, especially when Rudy only got 20 minutes and was playing out of his mind. This came down to poor substitutions, poor game planning (how many times did we come out of a timeout and dribble around, 3), and poor communication between coach and players. Take Brandon's play near the end of the game. 1 minute left we're down by 4 and he's standing around just doddling. Nate didn't seem to worried about it either, yet that was a time to push the tempo.

Speaking of pushing tempo, isn't that was EVERYONE has said we need to do to wear this Rocket team down? If that's the case then why is the one guy that pushes tempo better than anyone not getting ANY minutes? I don't care how bad Sergio's defense is, it can't be much worse than Blake's has been lately. Nate has gone away from what won us games this season and that's going to lose us this series.

    Amen to that.

First of all Phoenix DID have two all-stars this year, and the only reason Nash isn't still an All Star is because the West is littered with fantastic guards. Shaq may be old, but he has been playing well this season. The only reason they aren't in the Playoffs is because they can't land a coach that can get them there against Western Conference teams.
You are right, it doesn't happen very often. You wanna know what else doesn't happen very often? Teams being continually littered with TERRIBLE basketball players the way the Sonics were. They haven't even had anybody with much trade leverage without giving up the only offense they had to begin with. They still don't. They would be STUPID to trade Durant or Westbrook. Wilcox they could trade but they won't get a healthy player in return worth anything. Green, maybe, but still who could they get in return? So, before they had Durant, Westbrook and Green, their options were Allen, Lewis, Ridnour, and Radmonovic. That team over achieved because Allen and Lewis were THAT good in THAT system TOGETHER and made the others around them THAT much better. The rest of those guys will continue to have journeyman careers at best. I think Ridnour could do well actually here in Portland, but he has to be in the right system with the right coach. Both Blake and Joel re-signed with Portland for LESS money because they believed in what is happening here with coach Nate. They are a hell of a lot closer to the situation than any of us message board chumps. I will take their evaluations over any one of you guys who are so pissed that we've lost a couple games. At the beginning of the season any one of you would have taken 1-4 series as long as we MADE the playoffs. Now our team overachieved and you are getting greedy. Grow up! Nate isn't the one shooting 40% on the series. They aren't even taking bad shots most of the time, they just aren't making them. Fine, question his substitution patterns, but even though we have beaten a lot of good teams by large margins, look at our record against Houston. Something that they do, takes the Blazers out of their regular game. Instead of getting down on Nate, give a little credit where credit is due and put the some of the blame where it belongs. You shouldn't be calling for his head even if we drop 1-4, which isn't going to happen.

I never "bet the family farm" on any of my other predictions. Even the several ones where I was profoundly accurate I did not feel as certain about as Friday's game. I know what I know, and I God damn KNEW the Blazers could not win game 3. PERIOD.

"POR leads 2-1" did not look right to me. You can't defy fate, but I am sharpening my perception of it before it takes place. Just don't be upset when I warn people.

And just as I said, Game 4 was our best hope. We lead by 6 going into the 4th. Unfortunately, it was ruined by the predictable play-calling of McMillan. And Travis has struggled, just as I figured he would. I take no joy in being right so God damn much.

Mike what made us lose that game actually was the inexperience of our players. No one is excused from it. Even Roy in the last play. It wasn't Nate McMillan's play calling was predictable it was the down right lack of execution of our players. Example, Chokelaw (Outlaw) throwing up a three pointer 3 feet behind the line with 8 seconds to shoot. Bad decision.

I agree about the bad execution. But the fact is, Houston knew EXACTLY what play we were going to run when we were down by 2 points in the closing seconds. This is how they got the charge on Roy. The smart play would have been to use Roy as a decoy while finding an open 3 point shooter, especially Blake or Rudy (or even an open Outlaw/Aldridge in the corner). Would have been our best chance. Don't lie to yourself.
