Probably the most important game of the season to date. Let's not sugarcoat it, the Trail Blazers are at a bit of a crossroads right now after losing back to back home games to Western Conference teams. Portland heads out on the road for another 4-game road trip and 3 of the games are extremely winnable (NJ,PHI,WAS) and it all starts tomorrow night. We need to set the tempo for this road trip and get a nice win over the Nets.

    Keys-
Find an offensive identity and sustain it for a full 48.
Bring the energy. Portland is a little down after getting handled at home and the IZOD Center isn't the most hostile environment which can make it tough to get amped for the game. This could be where the bench and all of their energy makes a difference.

    Very do-able 3-1 road trip.

All I want out of this NJ game is 100% effort and energy for 48 mins. If they guys can do that I think it will produce a win. (same goes for the PHI and WAS games)

Would like a bounce back game from Batum, the Camby vs. Lopez fight down low should be interesting to watch. Any word on Rudy, Marks, and Pryz?

Joel didn't travel with the group. They fear he might be contagious.

We better hope we are knocking down shots and that Camby becomes a human vacuum cleaner tonight on the boards. Also play a good low post game so we can get some breathing room on the jumpers...and fight under the picks on defence. Very do-able 3-1 trip and that IS what we should walk away with.

    peace out,

Hawes said it best.  Establishing AND sustaining an offensive identity for a full 48.  Points in the paint and an attacking mentality with the ball.  Those are my keys

Pathetic 4th. Who is this team because I don't recognize it. They are wearing blazer uniforms but played with no pride, energy, or passion!!! The nets? This team is taking a nose dive fast.

God, our team sucks right now.  I think that if we want to legitimately contend for a title, or even make it past the first round we need to make a trade.  We have all the right pieces needed to make a blockbuster trade happen, we just need to do something with it now.  It was apparent today that this team really lacks the energy and passion needed to win close games, so we need to go out and get someone who will bring that to this team.
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

also we need to stop taking so many jumpers.  I like Camby and Aldridge but we really need someone who can score better inside for us right now.  It seems like esspecially the past week or two we have been taking basically only outside shots besides Miller.  Its time for us to go out and get a center or power forward who can make something happen in the post.

Anyone remember the poll question from back when Roy's health first went public?  You know.  The one asking whether or not expectations for this season should stay the same, or be relaxed?  I do.  I remember also being one of a very few that voted to relax the expectations.

I'm betting that about now, there are quite a few more fans willing to adopt that stance and point of view.  When was the last time this team was at .500?  Even then, was it following a loss to a New Jersey caliber team?

What I would like to know is why when Aldridge was at the foul line near the end of the game, why was Roy lined up on the left post??? Why did we not have a bigger body down there and look what happened...LA missed and it bounced left??? The Nets grab the ball and call a time out. We are also getting lazy on the free throws...not shooting them but rebounding. The Blazers are to relaxed and not fighting for position. It is the little things that close the coffin lid on ya! I will however say the officiating was pretty darn awful tonight...dang, if ya just brush someone one the whistle went off....

    peace out,
    daddy

I can't believe the plays we run after Nate calls a timeout in the fourth. He might as well just hand the ball to the other team and take 24 seconds off the clock. Plus he calls way too many in close games that could come back to haunt us if we in fact need a timeout for some reason instead of calling a timeout just so he can tell us to throw the ball around the horn and huck up a shot at the buzzer or have it turned over. Also repeatedly going to Lamarcus at the end of the games is NOT gonna make him a clutch shooter all of a sudden.

But at least the Hornets and the Thunder lost!! AND THE LAKERS lost too!!!
I am a fan of comcast and the blazers making deals that keep screwing us over!! woot!

We DON"T need to trade anyone at the moment. ALL they need to do is play with energy every game for the whole game. when they do that they make runs and makes their confidence sky rocket. I've noticed this team has confidence issues, even though they shouldn't have a problem with it. One thing about humble team oriented players they tend to be too hard on themselves. Which in the end hurts the whole team. I would be preaching don't let it get to you! you are a professional for a reason! not because you tell yourself you can't do it if you miss a few shots or not having a career game...

What is all this talk of "passion and energy" it sounds like your trying to sell a fruit drink.

This team doesnt need that kind of "intangible motivation" this team needs to FOCUS.
They lost this game due to some of the same reasons that have haunted them all this season.

The PG position. WE have already shown ourselves that we cant contain good PG's. Williams Westbrook, Paul and Harris, well he is no different. And he ran a muck on us. There was no answer to him like there was no answer to the rest of those matchups, and people still want to go after Iggy?

Defense, where is the defense? Player are just standing out there, and if they arent standing they are doing unnecessary and irrelevant movements around the opposing ball carrier. I mean Harris drove to the rim on a couple of plays and he just passed everybody,......i mean Miller, Dante, Batum, no one was doing anything......past Bowie, and Walton, Everyone!!!!

This team (the nets) had some major problems following thier last game, serious player V coach issues.
So Avery Johnson (their coach) called a meeting/shootaround before the game agaisnt Portland. The team must of pulled something together, because this was a team we had beaten the previous 5 times.!!!!
They havent made any significant changes, or at least any that are threatening to us.
Well now it seems that every team is a threat to us, i think this season is going to result in one of the worst in Blazer History, especially if this kinda stuff continues.

Just like I said... ENERGY! WM said after the game they got too comfortable and let their guard down in the fourth, which lost them the game.

" What is all this talk of "passion and energy" it sounds like your trying to sell a fruit drink."

this team over thinks everything unless they play free and with energy. If they play like that then the focus will come. I think that's what people tend to preach first is focus, but focus comes from the brain and you can't coach that!! most of them have played basketball their whole life and all play differently. If you just tell them to focus all it's going to do is throw them off their game

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
