    Via ESPN-
LeBron James will return to Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena on Dec. 2 for the first time since the Akron-born James announced he was leaving the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.

And the Cavaliers and the NBA are doing all they can to make sure the emotional and hostile scene does not turn ugly.

The team and the league have been planning for this date since the summer, starting a continuing dialogue since the Heat's first game in Cleveland was scheduled in early August. The Cavaliers, the league and the Cleveland Police Department have had conference calls discussing the proper way to secure the game, which will be televised nationally on TNT.

To ensure James' safety, there will be dozens of extra police officers on hand, both uniformed and undercover. Officers will be stationed inside and outside the arena, and many will be positioned by the Heat bench and at the tunnel where the Heat players will enter the court.

"Honestly, I'm a little bit afraid," one member of the Cavs organization said. "Some people don't care. Their mentality is '‘I've got to get this off my chest.' There's so much negative energy around this game. People aren't excited about the game itself. They're just like, '‘I can't wait to do something.'"

The Cavaliers have been one of the few NBA teams to have metal detectors at every arena entrance since Dan Gilbert bought the club more than five years ago, but they will go beyond that on Dec. 2.

The team has done research on the various crude and offensive James T-shirts in circulation locally, and officials will be stationed at entrances to make sure no fans enter with such shirts or signs that disrespect James or his family members. They'll also be in the stands, authorized to take away inappropriate apparel. Fans who have such shirts will be required to remove them and then will be given a Cavaliers-branded T-shirt to wear instead. All inappropriate signs also will be confiscated and officials will be on the lookout throughout the game for inebriated fans or fans who are preparing to throw things onto the court.

Pretty scary to think how out of hand this could become. I really hope the fans don't get out of control and can limit their displeasure to imply booing him.

I hope he scores 101 pts, with 56 rebounds, and 31 assists and 12 steals, setting a whole new sheet of records.
I mean the dude doesnt "owe" that city anything, he increased the economic revenue by 500 million dollars, he got those people back into their team, brought that team back to life.
It would be like if people become angry at Santa Claus for only stopping by once a year.

Yeah, I do hope it doesn't get ugly. There are definitely people out there who don't care, as the Cavs employee said. It will be a shame - those guys should just stay home and yell at their TV for the good of everyone, but again, it is probably those hot-blooded types who will want to come to the arena and get it off their chest in person.

Malice at the palace..... Brew at the Q.  No but seriously I hope it just turns out to be a good game that goes into triple over time with Cleveland hitting the game winner buzzer beater well actually i guess i don't care much either way i mean who outside of Cleveland follows this drama close enough to truly want one of these teams to win?

Owners trade players all the time, but look what happens when the shoe is on the other foot. Get over it!

Magic fans were booing LeBron in Orlando tonight, every time he touched the ball. Do a lot of stadiums boo him like that this season?

They do it to Kobe.  LeBron is better than Kobe, so yeah, lots of arenas do this.  Especially since a lot of people don't like the whole thought of a "Superteam" with two Superstars without realizing Boston is the best team in the league regardless of what the Heat/Lakers do.  Speaking of the Lakers, their fans are such hypocrites going "it's unfair!" when they bypass the salary cap all the time and players want to play there so they take less money for what they're worth (and make it back by the advertisements they get for getting all that media attention).  I donno people have some of the stupidest reasons for hating on the Heat.

As for this game, don't think I'm a jerk or anything, but for the sake of entertainment, I will be disappointed if something DOESN'T happen.  I mean I love when there are brawls.  I love to hate and be hated.  I love when there's emotions running wild and everyone is angry and wanting to fight.  Makes the game that much better (and makes me hate the NBA that much more.  Like why in the world was Elton Brand suspended for that "Flagrant 2" against Washington?).

I don't want James to get hurt.  James is one of my favorite players to watch, and I loved the Heat even before Bosh and LeBron went there, but I'd like to see the cops using their clubs and beating people.  Wouldn't that be super fun to watch?  I mean, there is a reason this game is on TNT.  It's because everyone wants to see how the crowd will react.

hahah, most of the laker fans, that you see on TV after they win, are not fans of the basketball team. They like the Logo.
    The LA
just like the Dodgers fan base, has really erupted in the past few years, the Dodgers are not that good of a baseball team compared to what the rest of the league has to offer, they had Manny, who maybe raked in a couple extra Mil, but hes gone, and yet it still grows.
Alot of the time its because the insignia represented by these teams are taken and used to rep gangs, or some type of "Crew."
It just ridiculous. It is like the Laker girls, and that whole concept of Women coming onto the court in between timeouts dirty dancing to the latest over played song on the radio.
Has nothing to do with basketball.

But as far as violence goes within the NBA, there should be none. People who cant check their emotions at the door, dont deserve to be at the game, they should enjoy it in their own house, so if they do choose to fight, it will be with "their own son" and if the wreck something, "they will have to pay"
I mean its a professional sport, and when you have a bunch of adults, players or not, acting like children, how is that professional?
It just leads to bad reputations, negative press. And in todays world, the last thing we need to do is add to negative press, they get by just fine.
