Not gonna go crazy Alex, I'd like to know, in your opinion, why we should trade Roy?

Matthews has been stepping it up, with back-to-back, career-high games.  It doesn't surprise me though.  The thing is, in basketball- much like any other sport; when someone gets injured, it gives someone else a chance to step up.  When the star player goes on the IL (inactive list) sure it sucks for both the squad and the community, but for another player on the team, they see it as "yeah our guy is out and it sucks-this is my chance to get more minutes and try to work my way up into the rotation."  Wes has been showing that he can take over in games, and as a guy playing in his second nba season (with Utah last year) I'd say the guy looks promising.

Now on to do I think we should trade Roy?
    No
The team just signed him to a huge extension, which is to say that they trust in the guy a lot, both on the court and off of it.  If Brandon needs to sit out a few games, etc. there's nothing wrong with that, I'm sure you'd want the star player to be playing at 100% and get the best out of him (because I'm believing we haven't seen the last of the "Rookie of the Year" Brandon).  If I were Jay Jensen or anyone else on the staff, I'd say B-Roy is being smart, he knows he has teammates that can take over, while he, himself, rests up so that he can get back to 100%.  Why trade your franchise player?

Those are just my opinions though

I think B Roy is a keeper. Closers are very rare in the NBA. I can see how one would think/say Matthews is playing better than Roy right now. HE IS. Brandon's knee is still recovering, and he is still learning his limits and what not.

I think the current starting 5 has a good flow goin on. Camby doesn't need FGA to be effective out there. Batum just needs to be that guy who hits his open shots. Andre initiates everything. Lamarcus needs his isolation touches and he gets them. And Wesley is similar to batum in that he'll hit his open shots, but he also can be an aggressor and get to the hoop or the line. It's also such a long defensive lineup that they get lots of steals, blocks, rebounds, which can turn into easy fastbreak buckets led by Andre, Nic, and Wesley. This lineup just has good balance. There's enough Ball to go around to maxamize on each players strengths. Whereas with Brandon in the lineup, he needs his touches to maximize on his time on the court; and with those touches, the other player's efficiency rating goes down.

With Brandon and Lamarcus on the floor together, there's just a lot of isolation plays, where the rest of the guys just stand around and wait for the double team to come (to brandon or LMA) and then they receive the pass and shoot. Stagnant. There's more movement when there's only of them out there at a time.

Random thought: Rudy and Nic have good chemistry. When one drives, and the defense collapses on him, the other knows to go to the short corner for the three. Rudy also is very fast on defense. His first step reaction in his defensive slide is so quick. That's how he gets those charging fouls called against opponents. Underrated aspect of his game.

Random thought: andre is the man. His hesitation dribbles are so deceptive. He almost broke ankles last night and all he did was wiggle a little bit. He plays soo slow, it's no wonder he's played so many games in a row. It's his speed changes that make him tough to guard. I think he's got his swagger this season.

Oh I see after 2 decent games from Matthews after his 10 other sub par performances you want to trade Roy, while NO ONE in their right mind is going to give us Curry, Westbrook or ANYONE while Brandon's knees are so uncertain. Some Blazer fans are so oblivious to common sense.

hmm ... i don't agree. Wesley has done some good things, but i wouldn't trade Brandon. as a starter, Wesley had the big game of 30, then 20, then 16. just don't think i can call him better than Brandon at this point

@TomL; the title of this subject is, "Don't Go Crazy, I'm Just Saying".
The kid was simply asking a question, and giving his opinion. There's no need for insults.

@Kassandra; Roy also has games where he drop's 30, 20, & 16. Personally, I wouldn't trade Roy just yet. However, I would gladly sit his busted A** tired knee's on the bench and let Wesley fill his shoe's until management figures out what they're going to do with Roy. Matthews has proven that he needs big minutes in order to be effective, as doe's Roy. I honestly believe that Matthews work ethic could push him to eventually become better than Roy, who knows. You don't see many players that go un-drafted and than come out and drop 30 pts like it's nothing. The guy has something and for anybody to say otherwise would be ridiculous.

    JMO though.

Roy's knee's aren't why we we've been losing to team's that we should be beating, it's the rosters lack of finishing skills & the lack of shooters we have on this roster. Rudy hasn't been able to sink the 3, Batum hasn't been able to sink the 3, we need more shooters. We have a roster full of guys that don't really shoot at a high %, but at the same time, everybody's shooting jumpers & nobody's driving to basket.

It's not a bad idea in theory. The problem is, which franchise is going to trade their young star for Roy, who is currently injured, and the long-term severity of his knees are still not known? Roy is a great player, but given his current contract and injury history, I think the franchise would be better off keeping Roy and hoping he is able to return to form.

When I see consistency from Mathews, I won't think you're crazy, but until then, I'll say you're just living by the hype.  May I remind everyone that when Brandon Roy missed his first game (the game against San Antonio), Bayless had a career night and basically won that game for us.

Bayless plays a lot like Mathews (but I think Wesley has more control than Bayless and more basketball IQ).  He can score on any given night, but he needs to remain consistent.  We have yet to see this,  but you can't base two-three games on how a player is going to end up in 82 games plus the playoffs.  Otherwise, we'd still be looking at Bayless to make our big shots, rather than Roy, and be fighting for the 8th seed.  Roy is too valuable to this team to just trade him.  Besides, we never will unless he demands a trade, which he won't.  He's more loyal to this team than the team is to him.

So if I qualify a ridiculous statement by preceding it with "Don't go crazy" and finishing it with a "just sayin" then it is not ridiculous?
Well don't go crazy but I happen to think that if you want to throw away Roy's substantial career because an undrafted player has one or two good games without knowing the full breadth of Brandon's situation... is asinine!! That is my opinion, just saying.

At least wait and see how the league starts to respond once they figure out how we are using him.

Also LAS I didn't mean it as an insult anyway, it's just frustrating that people want to give up on Brandon so soon and I speak bluntly.
